Houston Rockets Fire Head Coach Kevin Mchale

After a 4-7 start, the Houston Rockets have fired Kevin McHale as the team’s head coach.

It really drives home that old saying that players win and coaches lose because this, IMO, is bullshit. Since McHale was hired as head coach, the Rockets have improved each and every season. They’ve been a playoff team and one of the elite teams in the West. Last season they had a 56-26 record and made it to the Western Conference Finals. They may have started off slow this season, but they do have some new pieces that need to become acclimated. Most notable of which is a new point guard that’s running the team on the court. I just think that it’s too early into the season to determine that McHale is not capable of coaching this team or that McHale is to blame for their poor record.

What do you guys think? Should they have fired McHale? Is it his fault that they have a 4-7 record? Let me know your opinions.

After 11 games? Man, that is harsh. It's not as if McHale suddenly forgot how to coach, is it? It's not as if he hasn't been successful in Houston and in Minnesota, has it?

I would think there's more going on than just the team's record.

Did McHale sleep with the owner's daughter? Worked for Phil Jackson in L.A., didn't it?

I have disliked Houston since The Dream left there. I never liked the team's strategy to attempt to "build" around James Harden. Harden is the worst defender at the 2 in the entire league, mix that with a ridiculous trade that brought in Ty Lawson who isn't a mesh with Harden and the problems go beyond McHale - he just had to be the one to take the fall.

There's a reason Harden was coming off the bench in OKC. He's our modern day Jamal Crawford I refuse to consider him the best SG in the game or even in my top 3.

Harden's lack of defense mixed with Howard having to rest every 2-3 games, terrible free throw shooting and locker room problems was the issue.

It was a harsh move to fire him so early in the season but I feel they need to trade Lawson.
