Bobby Eaton was a serviceable veteran to say the least. But he in no way compares to Bruno Sammartino.

Taking nothing away from Eaton as far as achievements go, but he was basically a great Tag Team Wrestler. Sure, he won his fair share of singles matches and some singles' Titles as well. But his main claim to fame is being one half of the Midnight Express.

There is no way any "Tag Team" wrestler ever defeats Bruno Sammartino!!

Sammartino was pure shit... I've watched his matches... and he's more personality and look than wrestling skill. Eaton is a veteran of ring wars, and lest we forget who could potentially be in the corner of Eaton... PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY... or JIM CORNETTE!

If EITHER decided to be at ringside for Eaton's match, I have to give the edge to Beautiful Bobby after an Alabama Jam at the 17 minute mark.

Bobby Eaton was a pretty big deal in tag team wrestling, but Bruno Sammartino was the main guy in wrestling for about 10 years. Sammartino bridged the old school and modern eras and basically dominated that bridge. When he showed up in the 80s, he was immensely popular still, and his pop at WrestleMania I is probably only second to Hulk Hogan, about 20 years after he first won his title. Sammartino would win here.

I am not really too much of an old school wrestling enthusiast, so I don't really have a lot of familiarity with either of these guys to formulate an informed opinion regarding either of them. However, the reputation of Bruno Sammartino is legendary, more so than Bobby Eaton, who I have barely even heard of. With the way people in the IWC rant and rave about the prowess of Sammartino in the ring back in his heyday, I simply cannot imagine him exiting the tournament in the first round. In a vote out of ignorance as much as anything else, I give the nod to Bruno Sammartino.

Bruno all the way. Bruno was WWWF champion for I dont know how many years. He was the main guy in WWWF before Hogan came along. Eaton on the other hand is known mainly as a tag team wrestler as part of the Midnight Express.

Bruno all the way here in the first round. Nothing against Eaton, who was a great in ring worker, but just on sheer impact on the comapny now known as WWE, It's hard for me not to vote for Sammartino. Lariat was correct in saying that Bruno was not exactly a scientist in the ring(pure shit, I believe he called him), but Bruno could brawl w/the best of them, possessed crushing power, and had legendary endurance in the ring. That combined with the fact that Bruno's 2 title reigns amounted to over eleven years of his near thirty years in the ring, he was SO over during his first title rign that he sold out MSG over 200 times puts him over the top for me. The icing on the cake for me is that Bruno's physical toughness in coming back from a broken neck at the hands of Stan Hansen after only eight weeks to rematch Hansen, an absolutely incredible feat, seals the deal.

I like Bobby Eaton much better, he was a great tag team wrestler but there's no way he goes over Sammartino here. Sammartino was THE guy for Vince Sr. for the better part of 20 years. Even when he wasn't WWWF Champion, he was still the biggest star in the company.

Sammartino wasn't that great in the ring, but he was a powerhouse, too much of one for Bobby Eaton to overcome. That plus Sammartino's accomplishments and star power, no way Eaton goes on.

Bruno Sammartino was THE MAN in wrestling for so long. He held the world title for over a decade in just 2 title reigns. Add all Edge's 11 wins together and it doesnt even equal one of Bruno's reigns.

For that alone he goes through here. Eaton was by all accounts very good, but a tag-team specialist is used to spending half the match out of the ring, and with his better stamina, Bruno would win this quite easily.

When WCW first started showing in the UK, 'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton was one of the most featured wrestlers. He wasn't 'Beautiful', he had a less than impressive physique and didn't talk - yet I thought he was class. In ring the guy was great and I legitimately marked for him when he beat Double A for the TV Belt.

Bruno Sammartino is the only wrestler who has a more legitimate claim to a HoF place than Randy Savage and no-one will ever beat his title reign length(s). But having watched matches of his, I'd watch anything featuring 'Earl' Robert ahead of the original 'Living Legend'.

All very well says you but how can you find a justifiable way for Eaton to go over? Harley Race is in this grouping and is likely to be facing the winner of this bout. Now when Race was managing Vader and Luger, he had a working relationship with the Dangerous Alliance so I can see a deal being struck. Arn, Rick and Steve are all tied up in matches elsewhere so Bruno's old protégé 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko accompanies 'Beautiful' Bobby to the ring. After an 'accidental' ref bump Zbyszko hits Sammartino with a piledriver, and chokes the dazed Bruno with the Larryland Dreamer before reviving the groggy referee who only witnesses Eaton dropping from the top rope with the Alabama Jam and pin for the 1-2-3.
