Real Name: Joe Reuter

Gimmick Name: Hiro Kota Koji

Nickname: “Blue Fang”

Height: 5'11”

Weight: 238 lbs.

Hometown: Woodstock, IL

Billed From: Chicago, IL

Appearance: Look at the picture. Think Ultimo Dragon, about two inches taller, and dressed in blue.

Alignment: Face

Main Gimmick/Brief History: Hiro Kota Koji is a Caucasian, Chicago-born professional wrestler that fights to preserve the dying luchador-style, infused with Japanese culture that is slowly fading from modern day pro wrestling. Although he himself is not Asian, he was taken in by a Japanese couple as a young child, after his parents died in a car wreck, and was raised in their culture. When he started wrestling, he took on the name “Blue Fang” Hiro Kota Koji to honor his adopted roots. Because of the severe emotional trauma he suffered as a young boy, a darker persona, which his foster mother referred to as the "Blue Fang", can some times emerge when his senses are extremely heightened – for instance, he has been known to snap near the end of the match if he can't seem to beat the opponent, and brutally finish him off by any means necessary.

2 Characteristics of Gimmick: (1) Fan-Favorite – children love his colorful masks and ring attire, and love him despite his something questionable persona, and (2) Obsessed with cherry blossoms. As the national flower of Japan, he carries a bag of them with him wherever he goes, and has been known to sprinkle them over his opponent after he has won the match.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
-Deceptively strong: You won't see Hiro lifting up Super-Heavyweights or anything, but for his style he is incredibly strong. One would think that his lucha-style training limits him to cruiserweight competition, but as an average American he also has the size to match some of the middle-weight talents pound-for-pound.
-Diversity: Again, his Japanese lucha-infused style, but traditional America size allows him to fly with the X-Division, grapple with the middle-weights, but also take more of a beating than most lucha-wrestlers.
-Kicks: Hiro has been known to end a match with a single kick to the temple, especially when his dark persona has taken over, and has trained his strikes to quickly take down just about any opponent.

Weaknesses:
-Impure: He may have the advantage of diversity, but match him up against a true cruiserweight and he may a bit slower. Match him up with a pure mat-specialist, and he's probably going to tap out. His diversity is a blessing, but can also be a curse.
-Easily distracted: He fights for the fans, and plays to them a little too often, some might say. Tricksters have been known to roll him up with moderate ease when he is distracted.
-Too focused: On the opposite end of the spectrum, if he has entered that “rage” mode, he is incredibly focused on ended the person his attention is on. This leaves him unacceptable to attacks from behind, by managers, other opponents, or surprise attacks.

Sample RP:

They say I've lost my mind.
That the trauma I experienced as a boy has hallowed my soul, and underneath my mask is nothing but a sea of darkness.
They say I have an emptiness that can never be filled.

You ask me why I lay the cherry blossom on my opponents after I beat them?

Sakura – the cherry blossom – is delicate. It is beautiful, and full of color and life.

When I was young my foster parents took me to their home country of Japan during the blooming season, and together we looked upon the fields of sakura. Amidst all of the darkness that was brewing in my heart, they were the subtle light that shined through. You see, the sakura bloom for a short time, display their beauty, and die. Their life is fleeting, but in that short time they display such passion! There is something about them that saves me, that calms me when I look upon them.

Before leaving Japan, we visited the Tokyo Dome to watch the wrestlers perform. I had never experienced a match before in my entire life, but something about it drew my attention. It wasn't the flashy performers, the dramatic presentation, or the fireworks...

It was the people.

The fans that day reminded me of the sakura. Individually they are small – inconsequential. But together, with their voices as one they resemble that of the great sakura fields, painted with the beauty of the newly blossomed flowers. Their presence in that arena was brief, but in that small time they were filled with passion.

The fans are the cherry blossom.

So you ask me why I cover my opponents in the sakura after I defeat them? It is because these people have healed me. They have touched me with their passion, and subdued that darkness inside. And although my dark persona...who my foster mother used to call the Blue Fang...although it may creep in within the heat of battle, these people will always bring me back to the light.

I cover my opponent in cherry blossoms, because of the people. My victory is their victory, and it is a symbol that together we can cover anyone – beat anyone that stands in our way.

Together we can heal this world, as this world has healed me.
