HHH, Mania 12, & The Curtain Call

The Brain

King Of The Ring
Attention Everyone

At WrestleMania XII Hunter Hearst Helmsley was squashed by The Ultimate Warrior in about thirty seconds. This took place on March 31, 1996. At a house show in Madison Square Garden Hunter Hearst Helmsley broke character to say goodbye to Diesel and Razor Ramon as they headed off to WCW. This incident is known as the curtain call and took place on May 19, 1996.

My point in posting this is to make people aware that Helmsley jobbing to Warrior had NOTHING to do with the curtain call as the curtain call had not yet taken place. I'm not trying to come off as a know it all as I'm sure most of you know this. I guess it’s just a stupid pet peeve, but I constantly see people post HHH was being punished at mania because of MSG and I can’t help myself from correcting it every time.

If what I've seen on DVD's and read in books is true, then the most significant amount of punishment Trips recieved was being taken out as the next KOTR winner. He (supposedly) was scheduled to win the same year Austin ended up winning and we all know how that turned out with Austin cutting the now infamous Austin 3:16 promo on Jake "the snake" Roberts. All in all, while it certainly slowed HHH's inevitable push, I think it worked out for all parties involved.
