Heath Slater.... Where is he going?

Madico_Fs

Australian Heavyweight Champion
To start this isnt a thread to completely criticize Slater im just curious as to where you think he will end up and how he should be pushed.

1. Where do you think he SHOULD be at eventually?
2. Where do you think he will ultimately end up?
3. Can he win a Singles Title?

For me,

1. Should be a mid-carder to upper mid-carder, he has skill on the mic and he can actually wrestle.
2. I think he will be lost into the shuffle and eventually released.
3. Yes, the US Title is right for him if they push him correctly, hell if he gets a reaction like he did with DDP in the ring with him he could be put in scramble/ chamber/ fatal 4 way match's for a tier 1 title.

Now To You.

hand on heart, he will be dropped.

Its a shame thou, kinda like him at the mo.

I got a feelin thou that he will be pushed soon(no higher than us title or perhaps a new cruiserweight title) or perhaps a hated legend will appear "mocking" usa or the fans leading to the one man rock band kicking some arse.

Or the one im REALLY hoping for is

1000th Raw,
Have JR in the ring for any kind of promo, the one man rock band comes to the ring, starts imsulting good ol JR, then SMASH - SCSA comes and saves the day

Honestly, I was always a fan of Heath Slater since NXT, I thought he was one of the better mic workers there, and a decent wrestler.

1. Where do you think he SHOULD be at eventually?
I think he SHOULD be Mid-card status, taking the route of Kane in the case of putting guys over, and getting rewarded with a world title run for his efforts

2. Where do you think he will ultimately end up?
I think he will ultimately end up released, which would be a shame where Heath is gold on the mic

3. Can he win a Singles Title?
I think he has the capabilities of winning the US title, but I am not sure if he ever will with they way they are using him, but you never know

Heath Slater will be cut. His look is dull and while some think he is good on the mic, I think he is too lame and his accent is way too hill-billy. Better rock star type characeters include, Jericho 99-2000, Edge, and John Morrisson. Why do we need another who does not look as cool as the above mentioned?

I see him as a top cruiserweight.

If he wants to be a mid carder or better he needs to put on muscle he just looks like a bean pole right now. He is more then decent on the Mic and he actually got a pinfall over Doink tho Brooklyn Brawler played that particular Doink so maybe it's not that big of a deal lol.

I don't think the WWE has any plans for Slater, except for being laid out by past legends through to the 1,000th episode. I agree with a previous poster that the 1,000th episode will be when Slater becomes the victim of a Stone Cold Stunner. Beyond that, I doubt they have much planned for him. I don't really think he has that much to offer anyway. The whole "One Man Rock Band" slogan is pretty lame, in my opinion.

The One Man Band is being the perfect irritant right now. Being the guy people love to see get beat down isn't a bad thing. If he keeps doing it well:

He has the chance to be a midcard enhancement talent.

Almost everyone gets "let go" eventually. If he has his head screwed on and is professional, he can be around for quite a good run.

He can play the role of the middle-man. Helping to pass the IC Title and US Titles between the rising Stars.

I have a soft spot for Heath, as we come from the same area in WV...I do fear that he may be let go, which is a shame.

1. Where do you think he SHOULD be at eventually?

Heath could easily be a solid mid-card guy. Can't imagine him getting much farther than that.

2. Where do you think he will ultimately end up?

Let go....which is a shame as he is a decent worker and solid on the mic.

3. Can he win a Singles Title?

Yeah, I could see him as US Champ and maybe even IC Champ (the IC title seems more prestigous to me..)

Slater's got potential... but they've got to get rid of that "One Man Band" thing.

THIS is a one man band

That does not remind me of Slater in the least.

What is he supposed to be right now? The delusional moron that runs his mouth before getting his ass kicked? That's a gimmick that's going to get old quick, and once it does, is going to leave him typecast.

I think he needs to end this run of jobbing out to the legends each week by putting a serious beating on someone, taking the mic and cutting a promo letting everyone know that he is not a joke, and not their whipping boy.

He's built up a little heat right now... and it's important he takes advantage of it in the right way.

I can't say I'm sure where he's going as a low-level heel. However at the moment it seems as if they've finally found someone to fill the void (if you'd call it that) of Chavo Guererro. He's got that same irrelevant, small, bad guy thing going on. He isn't important enough to feud with anyone who's in the title picture without coming across as someone who's out of place.

Unless WWE is in the mode of pushing smaller guys for title (Punk, Bryan, Kidd, etc.) then I'm not sure he's really going anywhere substantial. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. You don't have to be in the WWE in hopes to make it to the top. This may come as a surprise but you can actually be content or happy being considered a low-level guy as long as you're enjoying what you're doing.

This is exactly what the WWE wants... they WANT you to think he's a loser. They WANT you to dislike him.

He's SUPPOSED TO BE LAME! I mean seriously... "I RULE THE WOOOOORLLLD" A couple weeks ago??? You think he just made that up?

I genuinely believe that Heath Slater is on a fast-track to the unemployment line. And to be honest, if Linda McMahon's campaign agenda to try and work her way into the Connecticut senate position is addressing "creating more job opportunities," I genuinely believe WWE's typical "Spring Cleaning" session would have resulted in Slater's addition to the unemployment line. I mean, I'll give credit where credit is due. Slater is quite capable in the ring, however, he's got no real mic skills, albeit he has some charisma and is comfortable on the mic. Unless WWE found a certain comedy role for him in which he was used very sparingly, I see no real purpose in keeping him around. He simply doesn't have the mic skills to make it past the lower midcard, nor does he have the look of a superstar; even a midcard talent.

There's nothing that really stands out about Slater, other than the fact that he's an annoying ginger, and that will hold him back immensely. Regardless, I have no problems with being proven wrong, so I hope he does something to win me over and do the same with all of his naysayers. However, regardless of what I hope for, I doubt he'll be around long.

Yes I do fear for Slater after the 1000th RAW as I don't see much else for the 'one man rock band'

I personally think he has been great since his days at NXT. Once he split from Gabriel and went on a singles run, he became that guy I loved to hate.

I have an idea for Heath Slater if they were to keep pushing him as a mid card heel - this might be crazy but hear me out..

Get the mouth of the south Jimmy Hart to return and start managing Slater! He could do it on the 1000th raw and turn on the legends?
Just a crazy idea :)
This could help him in being a top mid-card heel and even a u.s title run?

I don't think he's heading out the door just yet, He been getting a pretty decent reaction from the crowd everyweek, I don't think he gains anything by pinning doink last night, if anything he gains something from being on the receieveing end of the diamond cutter, he didn't wrestle DDP but it comes off that DDP can waste some of his time to shut him up.

I don't think he will be released come next spring cleaning he wasn't released in the 2011 edition when he wasn't really doing anything then, and his position in the company has obviously there is other people in the company that was of no importance that could be taking the job of jobbing to the legends(Curt hawkings, Tyler Reks, Jinder Mahal). I say he would probably be around for another 2 years or so if nothing comes out of this even after the legends stop coming by just to be a jobber, they would release development contracts before somebody that has a little bit of heat(more than ADR it seems) and sales move excellently.

I think he is capable of a mid card title run or a top mid card heel, maybe 6th man in matches like the elimination chamber or other multiperson main title matches never really having a chance to win but just saleing others moves with getting minimal offense in if kofi isn't available for that.

1. Where do you think he SHOULD be at eventually?
2. Where do you think he will ultimately end up?
3. Can he win a Singles Title?

1. Well, I think he should eventually end up a mid-card champ and maybe eventually a world champ.

2 and 3: Well, I think that Slater's not going anywhere. Jobbing to legends doesn't happen to just anyone. I think there's more to this. I think Slater's going to start getting a push and become the U.S. Champ.

I've always been very high on Heath Slater and I believe that he has the potential to be a consistent mid-card wrestler.

I've always wanted to see him have a chance, and it seems as if WWE is somewhat giving him a chance. After not really being used after his suspension a few months ago, he's been able to generate some heat from the crowd which makes the segments hes in a lot better. The WWE has plenty of heels they can use for this position but for some reason they decided to go with Slater which hopefully (and with the win vs...err...doink) means that they'll give him a mid-card push sooner rather than later. He has the look of a cocky/funny heel like 2002-2005 Christian and imo is above average in the ring. If he's given the chance, he'll take the ball and run with it. He's alot better now than he was before his suspension.

Hopefully he will have a few IC/US titles under his name. I feel as if he could be a good mid-card champion. Not sure if he is main event caliber just yet, but then again we didn't think Miz was.

Yes, I cant quite put my finger on why but I do like Heath Slater.
Maybe some of the following can help me understand my thoughts.

He has a pretty decent moveset from what I have seen so far, his neckbreaker looks pretty good and should be his finnisher although I have seen many kick out from it before.
I remember him doing some corkscrew type spot move back in Nexus/NXT which was a really good highflying move.
His look is annoying, his Mic work is just as entertainingly annoying. And his Gimmick is so Pathetic and again "Annoying" that it works.

Problem is I can't see him getting past these silly segments, and I dont see him as a Midcard champion anytime soon, or even a challenger.
It looks to me like Slater is destined to remain a comedy Heel jobber to anyone who needs it, and if he is ok with that so am I.
If not, future endeavoured once he is no longer of use.

Slater has potential. He's good on the mic and can wrestle. I definitely can't see him winning a World Title (at least not at his current state) but I could see him winning the US Title, maybe even the IC Title. He just needs a good feud to get him rolling.

1. Where do you think he SHOULD be at eventually?

Eventually? Where he is right now, the mid-card.

2. Where do you think he will ultimately end up?

Mid-card.

3. Can he win a Singles Title?

He'll probably have a few shots at either the US title or IC title, but I don't see him winning either for a long time.

There's nothing wrong with where Heath Slater is right now though. I personally find him entertaining now than before. When he was with the Nexus, I hated him 'cause he looked stupid. When he was a Tag Team Champion with Justin Gabriel, I still wasn't buying it. He has a solid moveset and his mic skills are okay, but there's something off about him that doesn't exactly scream the future of WWE. However, when he's working programs with compatible elements such as what he's doing right now with all these so-called "legends," then it can be quite entertaining and I'm not against that. He doesn't exactly need titles to pull that off. Maybe in the future he can have a few meaningful feuds with former Nexus members or even enter Money in the Bank matches once in a while just to toss things up. Sometimes I miss the WWE when there were guys that never held titles but were still successful to a certain degree.

To the unemployment line?

Its pretty shocking that he still even has a job there, and should be lucky that he is on TV at all.

His gimmick as a clown is the best he will ever do for himself, but he is so awful in every way that he will probably outlast many ex Nexus guys, its one of those "so bad its good" cases.

Its sad because the guy grew up with wrestling, is a big fan, dedicated his life on it and the only reason he gets up for work each morning is...to be bad? I know its work and a paycheck but i rather be the janitor at WWE events than Slater

I have never cared at all for Heath Slater until these last few weeks when he keeps getting his ass kicked by returning legends.

I would be surprised if WWE release him after the reactions he has been getting but since Nexus he has never really been given much to work with. I think he is a useful guy to have on the roster, you always need jobbers who are over with the fans, and I think Slater could do this role very well.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in a tag-team with Santino at some point, that could be pretty entertaining. He won't ever be World Title material, but that doesn't matter, he could be a solid mid-card talent.

wasn't he champ in FCW? I wouldn't be surprised to see him as IC/US champ in a few months. wwe is obviously trying to get the crowd to react to him and as we all know, you can't have a face beat a face or a heel beat a heel for a title - that might blow up the wwe universe. but i could see him challenging Santino for the US title, lose a few times and then pull off a freak win. but that will probably be the highlight of his career. i don't see him becoming World or WWE champ. his character just isn't right for it and wwe doesn't do the dramatic changes to people like they used to. remember when Triple H was Hunter Hurst Helmsley? quite different than he is today. or when Jeff Jarrett lost his hair and went from that neon cowboy gimmick to a more believable one? i don't see them having Heath buzz his hair and drop the one-man band gimmick. i wouldn't be surprised if he became like Golddust - win the odd title but eventually mostly there to lose.

Were is he going? Out the curtain, to get his ass whipped by another fat, old guy, likely.

That said, Heath Slater is motherfucking wonderful. Play his role beautifully and hilariously, and is very solid in both offense and bumping around for people. The bottom line in this industry is entertainment, and I have never even come close to not being entertained by a Heath Slater segment.

Say what you will, but few else from the initial Nexus group get multiple weekly segments on WWE tv, including the main shows. I could absolutely see a US / IC title reign in store someday, maybe even a rehash of Santino's majestic "Honk-a-meter" which would be great as well.

I've never liked Heath Slater personally, I've held a grudge against him for winning the tag titles with Gabriel from Santino and Kozlov when I was there and wanted to see Koz get a win. That said I've come to realize how useful he is in the past months and now realize what a good thing he is to have around. He is basically one of the best jobbers out there, he can take a hit and he can sell like there's no tomorrow. Luckily for him everyone is noticing it and I could see the WWE continuing this with Slater and maybe even turn it into a decent story line where he wins a mid card title in the end. For now he'll keep doing what he's doing but I do believe that he will be kept around and rewarded for his work with some decent mid card success, maybe a few tag runs. He'll never get anything bigger than that but considering he was the ugly duckling of the Nexus that ain't bad.
