Heat on D'Angelo Dinero?

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
According to a PWTorch report, there's some heat backstage on D'Angelo Dinero right now that's stemming from his recent push "getting to his head" — something that has reportedly rubbed a few people the wrong way. It's also noted that when he was wrestling int he WWE as Elijah Burke and began gaining notoriety he began referring to himself as The Black Pope (out of the blue) and that also didn't sit well with other talents/officials.

To add fuel to the fire, the report also notes he cut a 15-minute promo at a recent house show and that also has soured the view on him backstage.

Thoughts on all of this? Could it all be a work heading into Bound For Glory? Why or why not?

I think it's just a work... There were no problems with the Pope before he joined up with Sting and Nash, now all of a sudden he has backstage heat?

And who really cares if he cuts a promo at a house show? As long as he's not boring fans, then there really shouldn't be a problem... It's not like they have a TV time limit or anything like that...

I think Pope will keep on Pimpin...

I agree with JCool doesn't this seem very convent that this report has come out now that he is alligned with Nash & Sting. I think that this is either work or a false report. I know people that have met the Pope and they have said nothing but good things about him.

Ok, let me be a little off topic first. D'Lo Brown's in TNA!?! when did that happen? Ok, npw on to the Pope. I dont think that this is anythingg that is serious to him. I mean, come on, hes the Pope. This is not major in my opinion and jusy some heat thats on him. Hes not gonna get in big trouble, but he made a little mistake. Thats all there is to it

The thing that lends it credence though is that this has happened before back in the WWE. Par of the reason he was let go was that he got heat for being very cocky and rude to his betters while still a small fry. You cant get a cocky ego no matter how much the company love you or you get in trouble (until you break through into main event level)

I'm taking this report with a grain of salt. Besides being the only one of the Fatal Four to not qualify for the BFG main event, Pope has been riding a pretty good push. If there was any heat on him, he would be buried. In addition, he would also more than likely be left off the BFG card. Now granted, he's not on the card as of right now (to my knowledge) but there's still a lot of time between now and 10/10/10. As said earlier, there is no time limit at house shows so Pope cutting a 15 minute promo shouldn't be a big deal. I guess we'll have to see where he goes from here to really be able to tell but right now, I think this report is false.

I am going to agree with what Rulk25 is saying about being too cocky especially when he jumps from company to company. Now am not saying I believe this report is true, but The Pope needs to realize that he has something good going for him and can't afford to screw up right now. Because if he do, then he going to make a mistake that's going to pull him off the spot light

DaBlackPope "The Pope" wasnt born until TNA, kinda hard to say "The Black Pope" in 3rd person, 15min promo Toledo,OH? LMBO. Thanks 4 da publicity~ PHS

Looks like Pope is saying it's all bullshit...

So, who knows...

It is probably a little bit of both like most things in TNA. He may have been a little cocky in general and/or cut a promo that was a little long but I am sure that has been worked out and the timing is purely to fuel BFG and current storylines. I like how TNA takes these real things that IWC and others are bound to discuss and does not hide them. Instead they integrate them into what they are doing. Makes you wonder if they would ever delve deeper into the angle-jarrett situation. I doubt it. I suspect the reason that what TNA does works is that they are smart enough to stay away from the real touchy stuff like that and instead work in the not so important stuff that the IWC loves to fixate on.

I don't think this is a TNA work, why say he's got heat when TNA posted that video where AJ interrupted the meet and greet and The Pope confronted him.
Also if it was TNA work, Pope would not respond like that.

It's either a complete fake by outside TNA, or it's real that people backstage aren't pleased with him. I can't prove it, but the things being said about the Pope I have kind of figured. He seems like the type of person who if you give him the spotlight, he's not going to give it up. Like he's not going to job and he'll always want bigger and better.
This is just my opinion.

For one thing, Elijah Burke lied about The Pope being born in TNA.
This is from wiki, and it's been up there

Burke later resurfaced once again in 2008 with a new "Black Pope" gimmick defeating Stevie Richards, Kung Fu Naki and Jamie Noble in dark matches.[16]

^That was in WWE. So he came in acting like the black pope in wwe and was released not longer after. All seems pretty much what the story said.

Whether he's face or heel, the guy is arrogant, obnoxious, etc. That's his actual personality. Another thing Elijah admitted was b/c he was a boxer(with a record of 103-1 lol) he was stiff throwing punches.

The Pope D'Angelo Dinero was a guest tonight on Right After Wrestling with Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas. Highlights:
- Talking about the evolution of "Da Black Pope" in the WWE into "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero in TNA, and how the creative sides of WWE / TNA are different
- How his amateur career in boxing caused him problems early on in pro wrestling, particularly with "worked" punches
- Working with Mr. Anderson, and thoughts on him as well
- How he's excited about working in TNA since day one (and recollecting on his first night)

INTERVIEW EXCERPT:
"TNA (script) says, 'Pope walks in, Pope cuts a promo, Pope leaves'. It's that simple. That makes it fun. It doesn't say, 'Pope enters, Pope says "I'm the Pope, who are you, this is why I don't like you"... no! TNA says "go be Pope". Can't no 40 year old white dude write a promo on how a black guy from Harlem, New York is supposed to act! They never been in black skin! They don't know where this gimmick has evolved from, so kudos to TNA for giving me that freedom."

Any idea at what live event this may have happend at? I was at the live event on September 16 and I was in the backstage meet and greet that D'Angelo was signing at. D'lo Brown was actually back there and I met him and right after that D'lo tried to get Popes attention that it was time to go because the meet was over. D'lo called out D'angelo a few times by the name "Pope' then even called him Elijah.

Finally after a few attempts D'angelo responded with something like, Don't be mad that Pope has more fans here to see him than you have had in 15 years. My friend and I just looked at each other and laughed. My point is if something happened before that night with Pope getting heat from D'lo for a long promo, maybe that explains why they seemed a little bitter towards each other backstage when I was standing there. Whatever it is I hope it blows over because The Pope has too much talent to be held down for something as dumb as a long promo at a live event.

Yeah I saw Pope write that last night. So now it does make you wonder if Pope really does have heat with management. He has been sort of vocal the past few days about the rumor of where the Pope character was made up and the whole Deception thing he has been talking about.

I love the pope gimmick and the freedom they give him with it,. in the ring, he's very talented, and great mic skills, but i hope two things dont happen-
1. he gets fired for his backstage heat
2. tna makes him world champ. yet. like the miz, i love him, but he needs to be built up before being world champ. have the pope enter a meaningful feud, and give him the tc title or some other title, but he's not ready to be world champ.

Having his twitter taken away just confirms to me that its a work. He was talking about the Deception stuff than gets banned from twitter... def a work in my eyes.
