Hey folks,

Please excuse the shocking levels of ignorance that will more than likely be on display in the below post: in my defence I'm quite a newbie to wrestling having only watched it on a consistant basis for the last year or so. (for reasons i shan't go into, but they involve females!)

Anyway, what I was wondering the other day was, has anyone ever, on live TV done any of the following things:

1/ Accidently, while in the middle of a heated promo, called another wrestler by his real name? ( I assume that Mrs Sting doesn't call him "sting" at home - he must have a name! same goes with, say Kane, punk etc..)
I seem to recall an evolution moment where HHH called Batista "dave" which kinda threw me a little.. but has there been any big scale cock ups?

2/ Has there, on live TV, been a wrestler/manager/commentator etc grab the mic, and really lay into someone for real, unscripted and meant it?
I saw the Joey Styles thingie - i guess i mean like that, but actually real??

3/ Bit of a silly one here - has anyone split their trunks on live TV - in the ring, with camera's on?

4/ anything else that would fit into the theme of this thread??


If you can supply youtube clips, that'd be great too =)


Sorry if this is a bt of a dumb thread for you veterans, but i'm just a curious so-and-so!!


Btw.. if no-one HAS done this, or it's happened very infrequently, then big kudos to the performers to work 52 weeks a year with no balls ups!

Happens all the time. If you're interested in this sort of thing, a great book to read is "The Death of WCW." It goes into great detail on the many gaffes, flops, screw-ups, and other epic failures of that promotion.

Here's a sampling:

- There was a wrestler once in WCW who changed his gimmick to something called The Shockmaster. He had some ridiculous costume that featured a spray painted stormtrooper (yes, from Star Wars) helmet. Anyway, WCW decided to introduce the character by having him "burst" through a set wall. Well, the wall didn't burst completely, and since Shockmaster couldn't see very well in the Stormtrooper helmet, he tripped over a section of the set wall that was still intact. He fell on the floor and his helmet came off. It was so funny, the other wrestlers in the angle busted up laughing on camera.

- Vampiro once did some ridiculous thing where he could somehow summon blood to fall on his opponent from the ceiling. So there he was in a match and the time came for the blood to fall, but the wrestlers were out of position, so the blood landed 10 or 20 feet away from them.

- WCW once did some angle where somebody -- I think it was Jericho -- was supposed to be locked out of the arena. So they had cameras on him in the alley, banging on doors and acting frustrated by being "locked out" by "management." Well, evidently no one told the jobbers in the locker room, because one of the jobbers heard Jericho knocking and came and opened the door for him! Jericho had to act like he didn't see him, and the jobber had to quickly close the door again.

I could probably go on for days with stuff like this...

One Word Good Sir: Botchamania. Look it up on Youtube. Every time someone fucks up in wrestling, it gets on there eventually. They're hilarious, best thing going on youtube to me. The guys who posts them youtube name is MaffewJapaneseTable. I can guaranttee you'll join the Maffew World Order in no time.

I don't think I've actually seen split trunks, but more than once someones gear has been pulled down showing either just their butt or the whole Monty. Rick Rude comes to mind getting his pants hauled off by Jake the Snake, but I don't recall if he was wearing a cup or anything. Other mentions would be Ric Flair, Jericho, Shawn Michaels.. On a Botchamania, there are clips.

One blip that does stand out in my mind was when Kane and I forget.. Might have been Muhammad? Went thru the stage and when the cameraman ran over and zoomed inside, Kane was chuckling and asking the other guy if he was okay.

its a great question. Scott Steiner would routinely do shoot interviews blasting Flair, WCW management, and the like. Low Ki (Kaval) said his shorts got ripped off and his balls were exposed in some tag match in the indies but maybe ROH.

Booker T called Hollywood Hogan a ***** once live in WCW.. I have seen Kane try to make flams but the ring posts didnt do anything. could had been a reference to him losing his passion though SO IDK. Melina has fallen doin the splits.

I'm glad I'm on a weeks hols cso i've been chuckling away to it for the last two days!!

Defo my fave moment so far was mysterio going for a 619 and forgetting to hold on to the ropes and going flying! OH, and anything from CZW... them guys are umm... interesting...

Was suprised that RVD makes so many appearances (should I be?) but not suprised at all that Sabu and Steiner are regulars!

1) I'm not sure if the Beaver Cleavage thing with Mosh was a work or shoot, but it seemed legit to me at the time.

2) The last year of WCW was full of epic unscripted moments, especially with Steiner, Goldberg and Russo

Flair says a lot of crazy shit in TNA too when he's dealing with the ECW guys. Actually I noticed that he wasn't given a mic last night, coincidence?

3) Someone in TNA had their nuts out not too long ago but it happened at a taping and didn't make it on impact. WWE is famous for female crotch shots, happens pretty often when Maryse is in the ring, rawr.

There was one ECW PPV, where Sandman came out near the end, butt-naked and started running around the ring. The guys tried to calm him down, but in vain. I've seen a picture of Triple H about to pedigree Stephanie and one of her knockers had popped out of her dress. The most recent failure I can think of that involved something like that was when Consequences Creed threw up in a match last year on iMPACT! after a hurricanrana by Amazing Red. Stuff like that happens all the time and it's funny, but there are moments I really wish I haven't seen in the long run.

1. I don't think HHH calling Batista Dave counts...the WWE acknowledged that his name was Dave Batista numerous times...HOWEVER, a few years ago, when the lighting fell down on Vince McMahon, he called out to "Paul"...obviously referring to his son in law, Paul Levesque, aka HHH.

2. Steve Austin. ECW. Best. Shoot. Ever. His true feelings towards WCW and Eric Bischoff in particular are made quite known...lol

3. I don't remember any actual split trunks, but we have seen full moons because trunks got pulled down too far, and on occasion there have been a few "oops" pop out moments with some of the divas. Lita's live sex show nip slip comes to mind, as well as Miss Jackie's.
