Having not played either GTA 4 or GTA 5 and none of the Saints Row's. What is more preferable. I've heard that GTA 4 was a chore and Saints Row 2,3 and 4 are awesome. I know GTA 5 is supposed to be great but I'm poor so that's probably a no
Most of it comes down to what kind of game play you prefer. If you prefer realistic game play and character driven story then GTA is the way to go. If you prefer a more wacky fantasy style that includes beating people with giant *****s, then Saints Row is the way to go.
Of the games you mentioned Saints Row 2 is definitely my favorite.
I only played a couple hours into Saints Row The Third before I got bored with it and I'm not buying 4 because the idea of playing against an alien invasion doesn't interest me.
I really liked a lot of the GTA games but I felt like SR2 was better than GTA IV. I haven't played V yet but I've been told by almost everyone who has played it that it's a must buy.
I guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a game. If you can find Saints Row 2 for cheap somewhere though I would suggest picking it up. It doesn't have the same level of graphics as GTA which bothered me at first but once I actually got into the game play it became one of my favorite games.
GTA all the way. I like Saints Row and all but the characters, stories and overall gameplay of GTA is superior. There's certain things Saints Row does better but overall I don't think there's much comparison but really it depends on what you're looking for and truth be told the Saints Row games are great sandbox game.
I like both of them quite a lot, but I'm far more attached to Saints Row and it's characters than I am to the GTA ones, probably because we really don't keep with any of them from game to game. Tommy Vercetti defined GTA for me until GTA V, but we never got to see him again. It might have gotten more ridiculous post Row 2, but the character relationships still held strong.
You haven't played either GTA game from this gen yet you're expecting someone to tell you?
GTA IV &V are miles better than any of the SR games, they're longer, more detailed and with a better AI. There's a reason GTA sells so damn well. GTA IV was certainly no chore to play through.
