Great wrestlers should go out with wins

Flair is Overrated

Dark Match Winner
Sorry, but the Taker's streak should not have ever ended, and the legends in the business should not go out with losses. Hogan should have beaten Rock. Rock should have beaten Cena the 2nd time. And there are countless examples. I know people say you need to go out putting someone over, but come on, this is a fake fucking sport. If we're being honest, Brock Lesnar would most likely destroy anyone in wrestling history in a real match (including Andre, Haku, and Harley Race). The Rock would beat Stone Cold silly in a real fight. Hogan would never last 10 seconds with the Iron Sheik, and Harley Race would make Ric Flair cry. There's no tough guy legitimacy in beating someone else in a scripted match (Kevin Nash once mentioned that Flair could brag about being champ a bunch of times, but it's not real, because Nash would have killed him in a second - and he would have). Maybe in the kayfabe days it was important, but let's be real, no one with any sense believes the outcomes are rooted in reality, so putting people over means nothing.

I'd love for some one to give me a compelling reason why you need to put people over in a fake sport, and I'm certainly open to reasonable arguments, but I really don't get it.

All stories need an ending. Taker keeping the streak alive doesn't end anything. Him losing it does.

"You go out on your back". If you're retiring, you lose your last match. Just like Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, JBL etc. He knew losing on an episode of RAW or at any other PPV wouldn't resonate with fans because as long as the streak remained no one would ever accept his retirement even if he blatantly said "I'm done"... thats why he had to lose at Wrestlemania. Wrestlemania 30 was the perfect time and Brock Lesnar was the perfect guy to end the streak. Now that the streak has been beaten, Taker can finally retire. He still had 21 victories at Wrestlemania, a record which will probably never be duplicated.

This is the only instance I agree with this. Everyone else I feel has a bigger legacy otherwise. Taker with the streak was one of the main attractions at Mania and was pretty much the biggest part of his legacy. It needed to end either to Kane or Cena if it had to even end at all.
