I'm sure you fellas have heard that Gina, like Rampage will be taking time off from fighting to shoot a movie. She has been cast to star in Steven Soderbergh's Knockout. I would love to see her in an action film, but this is not going to help her career. It wont do female mma any good if the top star is not around either. Sure, it could add to her star power, but that wont do her any good if re-shoots interferes with her training when ever she gets ready to make her return to Strikeforce. Any thoughts? How do you guys see this move affecting her career in the cage & female mma in general? Does she really need another year or so away from the cage? Will she leave MMA behind if the film is a smash? Or, is it really not that big a deal?

Well, she's been in movies before. She was in a film called Ring Girls (which I have on DVD, but unfortunately I don't have a Region 2 DVD Player to watch it on), and just next Tuesday in fact, there's a movie called Blood & Bone starring Michael Jai White (who I'm a huge fan of) coming out on DVD that she has a major supporting role in. So she's by no means a rookie when it comes to acting. One of her long-term plans while in the sport of MMA was to take a step in the field of acting, so after she's done fighting she would have something to fall back on, and I definitely don't have a problem with that myself.

But yeah... I'm excited she was cast in the new Steven Soderbergh film. He's one of my favorite filmmakers, and the fact he got such a highly praised performance out of a porn star in his last film, makes me believe he's one of those directors that no matter who you are, he'll make you look good on camera.

I'm definitely looking forward to Knockout, and anything else Gina does in the future, whether it's acting or fighting or something completely different. I support her regardless.

Ring Girls was a reality series on Oxygen where she appeared as herself & she only had one scene, a fight scene in Blood & Bone. She wasn't the main star in those, which means there will be more demands on her this time around. Shooting American Gladiators caused her some cage rust, this project will do the same. She also wasn't the biggest female star in the business when she first did those projects. Her star only really started to shine after she appeared on American Gladiators. Taking that role at this time just seems like a step back to me. She should be setting stage for a rematch with Cyborg. Speaking of Blood & Bone, here's her fight scene:
