Gimmicks That Should Have Been Dropped

Throughout sports entertainment there have been so many long running gimmicks, that wore out there appeal very quickly. "Creative" on the otherhand, disagreed/disagrees.

Old or New ones- Any thoughts?

Ron Simmons'-"damn", ok funny the first 3, maybe four times. now its getting a little ridiculous and is a discredit to the first officially recognized black champion.

"I'm your papi" storyline was pretty bad. Bringing in horrible "acting" family members is never a draw.(aside from a mcmahon).

Eugene's gimmick should be dropped, it was fine when he first came but since then it just hasnt been s 'good' as it was. (however i still like the gimmick)

1. Eugene's ******ed gimmick. I have a storyline of him "sleeping' with one of the Divas and then he's 'cured" of his ******ation.
2. the King Bookah thing. Booker T has always been a better face than a heel, anyway. Remember a few years ago with him and the GoldDust tag team, that was hilarious.
3. The Viscera "love machine" thing. He's due for a serious makeover. it worked for Rosey/Umaga, why not Viscera.
4. Kane should be re-masked, and made into the Big REd Machine again.

Gimmicks that Could have worked
Chavo/Kerwin White. I know it was dumped after Eddie's death, but i liked the idea of Chavo losing his "Latino heritage" and going with the Kerwin White preppy thing. woud have been funny

The Muhammad Hassan/Davari thing. I understand with the war and everything it didn't work, but i thought Hassan got screwed over. I think having a "radical" faction like that would have worked for a short time.

I agree, I marked huge for Hassan when he was around, kind of sucks how that turned out.

One gimmick that I just never really liked was the Undertaker/biker thing. I just didn't like it. The short red-haired biker who came out to Limp Bizkit just didn't really do it for me.

How can you say that King Bookah needs to be dropped? That shit is absolutely hilarious! I'm lovin every minute of it. Booker plays over-the-top, so well. When he accidentally slips into his Booker T persona, that's gold right there. I say he should keep it at least thru another feud and a half. Maybe Lashley will remind him "who he is", and he'll revert back, but King Bookah is the shit. BTW, they should drop Boogeyman. Never liked it. Never will. Repackage Marty Brown as a sidekick for Kiiiing Boookaah!

Ok I want to make it clear here that you need to give some reason as to why you feel these certain gimmicks need to be dropped. If not this thread will be moved to the Spam Area or closed.

A gimmick I feel should have been dropped was as it still going strong is the Eugene's. honestly Nick D. is a good wrestler as he was a 8 time OVW champion so it shows WWE had something planned for him. But the gimmick is old andnow he being a superhero type is just pushing too far now and its getting really old. But for now that is one that needs to be stopped.

I'm going to go with Eugene's 'special' gimmick (like most others). This is a gimmick that when you look at it, is quite disrespectful to people with that actual problem. It was all fine and dandy when he was shaving 'Uncle Eric's' head and all that, but then the antics just kept going on and on, before we all just stopped caring. This gimmick has been crying out to be dropped and I'm sure Nick Dinsmore has been doing the same. The fact that the WWE actually parade this gimmick around like it's something to be laughed at actually is a little sickening, because it shouldn't be a laughing matter to the families of people like the character.

And not to mention the fact that it hinders Dinsmore's opportunity at a serious, respectable wrestling career. For too long we've been treated to this stuff, and from all reports, Dinsmore is one hell of a technical wrestler, and because of this gimmick, we only see those bloody antics in his matches. Sure, it entertained the crowd...for the first year, then we got sick of it. But it's been kept going for too long, and it's about time the WWE got rid of it. Give the man a real chance instead of this.

The Blue Blazer gimmick, anyone? Not only was it ridiculous having it switch off between Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart, but it was the reason why Owen Hart ultimately died.

Not to mention, it was also stupid.

Ok a solution for the damn eugene gimmick! I have seen dinsmores matches from back in OVW and i say they were better than any of eugenes matches ever!!! it was perfectly fine when Bischoff was around and the Evolution thing but since then it has been a big screw up! They should make Eugene have a heel turn ( that one a while ago screwed up because he was still retarred ) since Regal is now on RAW they should form a team and say Regal is helping Eugene get rid of his problem! so then Eugene is all not retarted and turns on Regal and fueds with him! Regal is a great wrestler but dont use him well enough and so is Eugene so they should do what i said and get Eugene and Regal in a major Feud!

I don't mean to defend the Eugene gimmick, but such "I'm too stupid to count to 2" gimmicks have worked. Look at George The Animal Steel, The Missing Link, Kamala, etc. But it is entirely too stupid to go on.

The gimmick that I think should go is pretty much "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels gimmick. Now before any of you go an tear my head off, let me explain. For one, Michael is devloping Hogan Symdrom. By that, I mean that he is growing one of the biggest, most visible, bald spots that I have ever seen in wrestling. He also looks like he wears dentures. So having him call himself "The Heartbreak Kid" is a little tedious. And while I know that there are gimmicks that have been driving into the dirt for much longer, his gimmick is old and has run it's course at least 4 times over. He's not a kid and damned near has a worse loooking physique than Flair. I mean, at least Hogan keeps himself looking muscular. It's over dude, hang it up.

And as far as Viscera's gimmick comingto an end, let me say this. I would rather watch the World Largest Love Machine than watching a porn star that looks like a cancer patient. I mean why is Val Venis even still in the ring with this gimmick? He aint sex and looks more like he may get sympathy sex than anything else. Hell, I liked him more when he was "The Assistant" Sean Morely. At least he was a bad ass and his cockiness transcended into his ego perfectly.

hi guys, first time poster here...i'm still going with the kane gimmick...i can't explain in words how electrifying it was to have any random match stopped with red lights and the organ intro to his theme, listening to jim ross go bazerk in fear as the big red machine came down to destroy everything in his path.

this thing with the shaved head and the fact that he's actually losing matches might have been okay if his gimmick didn't start off the way that it did...the old kane would have mopped the floor with mark henry and the great khali (who is one of the worst looking wrestlers i've ever seen, btw...not to get off track), who i believe were his last two losses...

again, not to get off track, but on the flip side of that, i LOVE what they are doing with randy orton right now...he was getting to "easy" for a while.

Boogeyman: Watching worms, the crappy costume, his limited wrestling skills, the little boogeyman,just everything about him. It wore out fast.

King Booker: All the jazz about him and championships, yeah that's true but the gimmick is just lame. Go back to being just plain old Booker T with the cool entrance music. I used to hate the Spin-a-roonie but now I miss it.

Eugene: It's pretty obvious. We all know he's not related to Eric Bishoff. We all know he isn't mentally challenged. He's boring and serves no purpose.

Umaga: Anyone ever heard of 3 Minute Warning with Jamal, Rosey and Rico? Yeah that about explains it right there. Besides the fact that it's stupid.

The Great Khali: His promo's are great, but all his matches are pitiful. There's just no point in having someone like him.

Kevin Thorn: They should've just stuck with Mordecai.....NOT! A vampire wrestling? It's just no interesting.

I have to agree with the post about HBK when you start to get old you have to admit that you are no long a "kid".

Mind you recently i have not been glued to my seat as often as i have before often fast forwarding through some matchs as there seems to be nothing new anymore and will someone please take the title from cena i do not dislike him but its getting boring now with the same person winning

I agree that they should at least let Kane grow his hair and eyebrows back...

I gotta be honest I like the Kevin Thorn gimmick and i loved Ariel its a shame they let that one go

Viscera is due for a change and i think they are gonna re-package him over on ECW

But the Deuce and Domino thing has to go, i that thats whats wrong with smackdown too many crappy gimmicks...i mean look what they had the bogyman, deuce and domino, the miz (he just needs to be fired) hopefully smackdown can turn it around soon
