All I can think of is having him as the leader of a Mafia type stable, despite being Mexican. I thought he looked badass strangely, in that gold-plated wheel chair, when he was injured.
Have an over face superstar "injure" him e.g. Orton. He vows revenge. For two weeks he is wheeled by Ricardo to the stage to watch the face superstar's matches. Simply staring. Then at a PPV, the face superstar has a match just to be jumped by Hunico/Camacho (or Primo and Epico), and Cesaro as second in command.
Thus Del Rio is wheeled out each week watching his team dominate over the face superstar and his allies, and just when the faces begin to turn the table, he surprises everyone by stepping out of the wheelchair and unleashing a brutal attack. Thus you have a great gang wars scenario, and you make people care about not only Del Rio, but Cesaro and one of the two tag teams I suggested... giving more flavour to the tag division, midcard, and main event divisions.
I just think the thought of Del Rio in his black suit, Ricardo in his usual attire, Cesaro in a suit, and Camacho / Hunico in ripped suits still with their bandanas etc would look so bad ass. Plus you'd get cheap USA heat at least!
