Occasional Pre-Show
Looking at a 1942 pamphlet gave me the inspiration for this and I quote "It is every American's Duty to be in the armed military. "In these dark times, we must band together to fight all evil, tyranny and oppression" it goes on to say.
Continuing on this pamphlet, it goes "We must sacrifice all that we have to ensure future generations of success." Some suggestions were, buying only essentials and saving money for higher war taxes in the future. Other suggestions including buying US Savings Bongs and to never cash them in.
In the back, it shoes exactly how to build a bomb from scratch, how to defuse a bomb, and techniques for civil defense. Such as assembling neighborhood watches, training them in marching and firearms in case of war on our own soil, in case of military commanders conscripting.
So... Generation to generation, have we lost something?
Its obvious, none of this stuff would fly. People would be in arms for open conscription, higher taxes and having to buy only essentials.
