Friday Night Lights is coming to Sky Atlantic

One of the best and most under-rated shows of the past decade is coming back to UK television. Yes, coming back, as it was previously shown on ITV4 at times that did it no favours whatsoever, 1.25.

Hopefully this will mean seasons 2-5 will be coming to region 2 DVD in the future too as we've had season 1 out for years without any follow through.

Sky Atlantic, Tuesday, 8pm. Watch from the beginning.

I'd say so. There's 2 actors from the film who are in the series, and both of them are brilliant; Connie Britton as the coach's wife in the series, (who I also think played the same role in the film) and a guy who plays Buddy Garrity in the series played a similar role in the film.

The tone of the series follows the tone of the film, perhaps sometimes it seems to go overboard on the emotional aspects but it includes a lot more outside factors that were hinted at in the film; pressure from past team members, the restrictive nature of small football towns, peer pressure at school, familial responsibilities and societal/economical tensions.

Tim Riggins, Matt Saracen and coach Taylor are probably the standout characters. From the first season at least.
