Fighter Specific Merchandise

I know UFC is going to be bringing out a toy range, and some fighters creat their own merch. But the UFC is really missing out by not making as much crap as WWE does. Which is currently the more popular? I don't have numbers, but I'm certain it's UFC. Yet which promotion is making a killing off merchandise? There are lots of shirts that realte to UFC, and each show they put on. But why don't they sell Rampage chains, foam fingers and other stuff? I know people might point out that some of that stuff is for kids and WWE is more of a kid friendly promotion. But you'd be surprised what adults will buy.

Where are the cool shirts that say Iceman, The Axe Murderer, The Dean Of Mean? Each fighter has fans, so there would be a market for them. If the fighter makes shirts themselves then it would still be in their intrest to have UFC make some for them as well. They'd get a percentage, and the Official UFC ones would sell better anyway.

I know dana loves to have his fighter under complete contract lockdown there for i don't think many fighters would want to sign over their name. But i completely agree with you i loved the figures they released a while back Round 5 World of MMA. The rampage one was probably the best done one also they are releasing more a series 2 with Anderson,Franklin,Wanderlei(yay),and sherk. Sherk one surprised me also in December they are coming out with a frank mir limited edition one that i look forward to get.

Also i cant find it but i saw recently a ppv buy rate of last year and this year and ufc beats all of wwe ppv except WM by around 200,000-300,000(except their over sea ones) i think most ufc ppv where around 500,000 to 600,000. Their was a decent gap between the two with ufc in the lead after adding all the ppv up but not a huge one since WM drew around 1000,000. So its safe to say ufc is more popular and if they did ****e merchandise they would be even more loaded.

You know what I desperately wish the UFC would sell? "Best of" DVDs. You know, a documentary along with the fighter’s most impressive fights. The one time they did make a DVD like that (for Liddell), it sucked balls. The documentary was crap and there were no fights on there whatsoever, just lame ass highlights and fucking pictures.

There have been a few DVDs I've bought just because so and so had a good, big win on it, but sometimes, it ends up being a waste of money because the rest of the card is crap. "Best of" DVDs would solve this problem and I personally think they would sell extremely well, especially since the UFC doesn't sell DVDs before something like UFC 45.

But yeah, t-shirts and all that is another thing they really need to look into. Tapout and Affliction make great business from what I understand, and I think the UFC could do ten times better then them with a clothing line.
