Like I did for Snipes I couldn't pick just one movie so I picked 3. Luckily the 3 movies I picked are a Trilogy. I've seen a lot of Matt Damon movies and these 3 are by far my favorite and IMO his best work. I love a good spy movie and these have everything I look for. Awesome plot, great cast that worked well together and they were loosely based off 3 of my favorite books.

having just realized there is a 4th Bourne movie in the works (Set to come out July '12) I will be waiting with baited breath all year and i can only hope it's as good as the first 3.

Um, I will go right along and agree with you. But first, there's no way the 4th Bourne is going to be anything good. Matt Damon, according to IMDB, isn't on the film. And according to IMDB, the set release date is August 3, 2012. While it may be an ok movie, Damon not being on the film pisses me the fuck off. Especially when the Bourne series are my favorite set of movies of all time. Bullshit I'll tell you.

Also, ... writer Tony Gilroy said "the film will not take place in a new canon; it will not be a reboot or prequel in any way, but more likely a "sidequel" or full spin-off with a new character in the mold of Bourne dealing with the ramifications of the Treadstone conspiracy." Just had to include that.

So yeah, my favorite Matt Damon movie would probably be the Bourne Ultmatum. The movie features a lot of action, suspense, and closure to the rest of the franchise's history. Bourne is just so cool in this fuckin movie. Like in the air port scene. Bourne calls a journalist to meet him there after reading articles about him in the paper. Bourne brushes by him and puts a cell phone in his pocket. Since the government is tapping the journalist's phone, when Bourne calls them the government flips out and says, "Where the hell did he get another phone from?". Just so cool in my opinion. And Moby helps a lot with the film's soundtrack.

It was a phenomenal movie. Great action movie with lots of fights and hilarious outsmarting the people who are chasing him. This movie out does every spy thriller ever made.

And yes, this is my favorite movie ever.

I'd say Rounders is probably only just my favourite Damon film, edging out Good Will Hunting only slightly.

Rounders is about a guy who has vowed to stop playing poker as he loses all his money at the start of the film and then tries to resist the temptation to get back to the tables, especially when his friend (Ed Norton) is released from prison and needs to make some cash. The supporting cast of this film is terrific, Famke Janssen, John Turturro and John Malkovich only have a few scenes in the film but do their parts well. Malkovich's hammy Russian accent is worth seeing alone!

I think this film maybe came out just before GWH but has nowhere near the same amount of recognition. Despite that, it's a well made film with a simple story and several engaging characters that is well worth tracking down and checking out.

This is an easy pick for me. The story for this film is pretty solid, and this film is well written. Also, Good Will Hunting is loaded with some outstanding performances.

Matt Damon was this cocky and rebellious genius, but he was afraid to take his gifts to the next level. Damon's character had all the tools to become a very successful man, but there were times where it seemed like he was in a shell. He didn't want to open up. Robin Williams and Ben Afleck had to push him to become a better man. Afleck's passionate speech towards the end of this film managed to open Damon's eyes, and he decided to pursue his love interest, Minnie Driver. Damon started to push Driver away, as she began to take the relationship to a serious level. Although, Damon turned himself around at the end of the film, because he realized how much he cared for Driver.

Also, the verbal duels between Damon and Williams were just great. They were full of intensity and emotion. During these therapy sessions, Williams was strong, and he refused to let Damon break him. There were times where Damon was a real dick, but still, Williams refused to back down. Williams actually managed to bring Damon to tears, and this scene is kind of shocking, because it brings that "Oh my god! He's actually getting through to him!" type of reaction out of you.

Good Will Hunting takes you on a journey. Damon's character can be a real jerk here, but I always want to see Damon succeed when I watch this film. I always find myself rooting for him, because his character does have that Average Joe feel, and this is the type of guy who you can root for.

Mitch got it right. Good Will Hunting is by far his best film and my personal favorite. He did both a phenomenal job in writing the film and acting in it. His role is one of my all time favorites in any film. Considering the fact that he was still considerably unknown when Good Will Hunting came out, this movie did wonders to jump start his career as not just a comedic or serious actor, but as a writer as well. Obviously he has primarily done acting since then, but he showed a lot of range. Will Hunting is both a smart ass but also an incredibly complex character as well. It gave us our first look at the wide range Damon has as an actor and his abilities as a writer.

Great actor, I love watching his movies. I found a site where you can see completed Matt damon fimography. You surely love this site.

I just got done watching Rounders a few days ago after not watching it for some time. Damon's narratation of the film and how underground poker worked was phenomenal, as was his interaction with John Malkovich and Ed Norton. This wasn't a flawless film, but Damon was phenomenal here.

Still, Im going to have to go with The Departed. Screw Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon as Sgt. Colin Sullivan of the Boston State Police was the true villian of this movie, and he pulled it off flawlessly. Whether it be his tipping off of Nicholson that his place was going to be raided, his deception of his Psychiatrist fiancee, or ultimately killing his mentor and "father" in Nicholson, Damon did the impossible for me: He made me truly want to see him get his. Damon is easily one of my favorite actors, so for me to want to see him get what was coming to him required a phenomenal performance. Damon did just that. He played both sides brilliantly, in essence fooling everyone for years as to his true identity. With no disrespect to Rounders, Good Will Hunting and the Bourne Trilogy, The Departed was Damon's best film. Damon playing the soulless villian was a step out of his usual character, and he was brilliant in doing so.

Watched Dogma recently, wasn't too shabby

Loved the little bit in the beginning where he's equating he Walrus and The Carpenter poem to christianity

I'm inclined to say Saving Private Ryan, but my choice is more because I enjoy everyone else's performance so much.

As good as Will Hunting was, abraxasdeux is bang-on with Dogma. Great film, great role.

I think I am going to have to go with True Grit. I never really liked Matt Damon until the Bourne series as he always seemed a bit stale when it came to his acting skills, however lately he has proven me wrong by performing well in a variety of genres. I have enjoyed the Adjustment Bureau, Hereafter and Green Zone and have been really impressed with his versatility. Despite this True Grit wins it for me. Damon showed he can perform with someone like Jeff Bridges and not get overshadowed by his greatness. He was able to portray both brutality and kindness as well as stupidity while making you care for his character which is really important in a movie like this.

While I have never seen the original, this movie is the best Western I have ever seen and I feel Matt Damon performed at his highest level. Would it have been as good with someone else in his role? Probably, but Mr Damon still did a great job.

Finally 'The Departed' was good but infernal affairs is way better IMO.

The Bourne Trilogy is amazing when you look at the scope of it. In the first he didn't know what was what and was basically acting on instinct. The second he is a bit more calculating and intense. In the third is where he is at his fully best. He is acting on pure skills that he has remembered. The man is do close to figuring it all out so he throws everything into finding the truth but he isn't so narrow minded as he is also a key figure in exposing Treadstone. The trilogy came full circle. He started out with one self obsessed goal and that grew and grew until it was about more than just himself.

I recently watched The Adjustment Bureau and that was a great film also. It's strange both he and Affleck started together but in acting ability Damon is by far the best.

Team America

In all seriousness, I'd have to go with The Departed. I haven't gotten around to seeing the Bourne Trilogy yet, and quite frankly, I don't like The Departed just because of him, I enjoy it because of everyone involved. Though, some of my favorite parts in the movie involve him in some form or another, be it the scene on the roof with Leonardo DiCaprio, the scene in and out of the elevator immediately following the previous scene, or the final scene inside Damon's characters apartment.

A close second would definitely be Dogma. Absolutely hilarious all around, really ingrained it into my mind that if I ever see Matt Damon in person, and he sneezes, I must say "God Bless You" to him, for fear of my own safety.

I'd have to go with Rounders. Good Will Hunting is a great movie no doubt and it was a hard choice. But what actually puts it over for me is not only a great performance by Matt Damon, but also Edward Norton. Another great actor.

Glad to see some Dogma mentions - gotta give props to that.

My personal favourite Damon movie is The Departed. But it helps having Nicholson/Scorsesse/Leo all working with yea :P
