I wonder how many people will call me gay just for the title lol, but i know theres people who like Leonardo Dicaprio and ive never seen a bad movie from him. This isnt a thread saying titanic sucks or is the best i dont want it to turn out like that and if you arent a fan of dicaprio or havent seen a movie you like from him dont comment simple as that, and i probably want to make this a series naming actors/actresses and we discuss what movie they have done is our favorites. Bearing in mind like i dont get in trouble or if wrestlezone forbids it but ya getting started, my favorite movie of leonardo dicaprio would have to be The Departed. This is actually up there in my favorite movies of all time. I love gangsta, Mafia type movies the double turn this movie took with both dicaprio and damon being "rats" in each others opposing sides (dicaprio with costello, damon with the police department) really made the movie suspensful and i was wondering the whole movie who would get found out first if either of them. Granted dicaprio died (again) lol, but I really felt this was one of his best performances because of how he portrayed his character billy costigan especially with the sort of boston street style accent that he developed. He really made you feel for him throughout the movie going through his anxiety issues and made me think "shit what if i was in the situation, i couldnt handle that pressure" just knowing they could find me out at any moment. But thats really why it is my favorite movie by dicaprio, I love movies that put me in a kind of situation where i can imagine putting myself in the main characters shoes.

So what is your favorite Leonardo Dicaprio Movie?

The only one that I've seen is William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, and I watched it for school. It was kind of confusing, with them talking in Shakespearean while in a modern world, but after I got used to it, it really was a great version of Romeo & Juliet. He pulled off the love struck puppy of Romeo awesomely, and Romeo is a hard part to play.

I am torn between "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and "The Departed" and "Catch Me If You Can" on this one. For those of you who have never seen "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" it stars Johnny Depp, and DiCaprio plays his mentally challenged younger brother Arnie. Many who have seen this movie have said that DiCaprio steals the show with his performance as it is spot on, rivaling Dustin Hoffman's performance in "Rain Man" and I would have to agree on that.

"The Departed" to was an especially stand out role of his to me because of the Hollywood Heavyweights he acted alongside. Not only was it a great movie, but DiCaprio at no time is overshadowed by the performances of his co-stars. When you are acting next to Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Mark Whalberg, and Matt Damon, that could easily leave you looking like shit but DiCaprio was solid and actually carried the movie rather well. It could be argued that his performance was only perceived as being so well because of the great actors he had to play off of and there might be some truth to that. But, in this movie his character was the focal point and the lead which put the weight on him to deliver which he did.

The other real heavyweight contender here "Catch Me If You Can" very well could be his absolute best performance ever. Now he did have Christopher Walken as a supporting character, and the "Archduke of the Academy Awards" Tom Hanks as his co-star which might take away from his role with some. I thought this was an amazing leading performance from DiCaprio and an all around great movie. Once again as with "The Departed" I felt that the fact he was working head to head with Tom Hanks GAVE more credence to his performance as Hanks can act a lot of people off the stage if he wants and often times seemed to go for the jugular in that respect in this movie. To even be able to pull that off is an accomplishment and this movie proved that DiCaprio could be an effective leading man, making it also a top candidate for his best film ever.

The other candidate I would expect some people to name would be "Gangs of New York". While this was a good movie, I personally didn't think this role was ideal for DiCaprio. He did it well which is a testament to his ability, but the above mentioned movies I think just show him off much better.

I have heard mixed reviews of his latest hit movie "Inception". Those that could follow it have all said this is his best role, one of the best movies they've ever seen, and can't wait to see it again. On the other hand there have been a lot of folks who simply couldn't follow the movie and have thus rejected it and his performance overall so the jury seems to be out on that one still.

I think the only movies of his that I have seen are Titanic and Catch Me If You Can. Even thought those are the only two I have seen, I love CMIYC.

Based on a true story, its a really fun, smart, and interesting story of a con artist. Walken as his father and Tom Hanks as the always pursuing FBI agent make the movie even better. Add in the great character development that goes into Leo's character and it makes it a great movie. It pulls you in and its a movie that you can never get tired of watching.

Gangs of New York. Probably not his finest movie but it is my favorite film that has featured him. He did a great job of putting the world of cinema on notice that he would someday be one of the biggest stars in the world. It didn't hurt that he had the legendary Daniel Day Lewis to work with and learn from to help him craft that role into what it was. I thought his role was great because it was something a little different from from Leo then his previous films. He played a vengeance seeking killer instead of the pretty boy that he was considered, at least in his early days. And like I said, Gangs of New York may not be his finest performance but it is my personal favorite.

I also loved Gangs Of New York for a lot the reasons jon said, but I'm going to have to go with The Departed. Leo was fantastic in this one, and Jack Nicholson was a great choice to play the sadistic crime boss. Leo always brings a great amount of intensity with his performances, and nothing was any different here. DiCaprio did an amazing job portraying the nervous and tense undercover cop. This is also one of the very few movies where I can tolerate Matt Damon.

This is a tough choice. He has done so many great roles in the last ten years.

Keeping in mind I have not seen Inception yet, I'm going to go with Shutter Island. I know a lot of people don’t' like it but I thought it was a pretty good movie.

Maybe I should rephrase this by saying it's one of my favorites in the last year. Now that I think about it, Gangs of New York, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Catch Me If You Can, and Revolutionary Road all were supreme acting jobs.

I will say my favorite movie he's starred in is without a doubt The Departed. I fucking LOVED that movie. It had everything you could ever want in a film: suspense, drama, funny moments, great dialogue, etc.

However, his performance in The Departed is nowhere near his best. His best performance.... man, it's damn near impossible to pick. But I'll run down what I feel are his top 3, in this order.

3. Blood Diamond & The Aviator - Shit, I already have to start this off by cheating a little bit by making 3rd place a tie, but his accents in both these awesome films were incredible, and he was still able to nail all the dramatic scenes perfectly carrying the accents. I was blown away by both performances.

2. Revolutionary Road - His most underrated performance and I'm still pissed he didn't get nominated for an Oscar for this role. The scene where he and Kate Winslet are preparing for guest and he tells her about his infidelity... the aftereffects of what that scene caused is some of the greatest acting I've ever seen. Not just from Leo, Kate, and Michael Shannon (who is phenomenal), but from anything I've ever seen, period.

1. What's Eating Gilbert Grape - Just an unbelievable performance. If you had no idea who Leonardo DiCaprio was and then watched this movie... you would swear you were watching a real handicap kid on screen. That's how good he was in this movie, and it pisses me off to this day that the Academy awarded that overrated hack Tommy Lee Jones with an Oscar for his shitty role in the shitty film The Fugitive over Leo's amazing performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

Personally for me, I would have to say 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' is his best movie. JMT hits the nail on the head. If you didn't know who Leo was, you would believe he was truly mentally handi-capped. It was an amazing performance and an amazing movie. Just not much more to say other than if you haven't seen it, watch it, it'll jump up on your lists of his best movies.

It seems JMT and I have similar tastes in movies. I loved Aviator and Blood Diamond too, amazing movies and Leo's performances are top notch. He brings a lot to the big screen and it was hard for me to choose my favorite, because to be honest, I've liked all of the movies I have seen in.

I'm a huge Leo fan, and he might be my favorite actor of all time. As for my favorite movie of his, it would have to be Catch Me If You Can and closely followed by Blood Diamond. I thought his chemistry with Hanks and Walken in CMIYC was the best he has ever had with any actor. He played the role so well that I actually felt sympathy for him when he wanted Hanks to stop pursuing him so he could settle down. As for Blood Diamond, his accent was perfect and I thought the movie portrayed the children armies in Africa perfectly but I have noticed that Leo seems to die a lot in his movies just like in Blood Diamond.

Hey Yo!

Im going to go with Shutter Island just for the shear fact that it had me thinking about it for days. I couldn't get my head around if that type of scientific testing is actually practiced or not, and when you think about it, it kinda makes actual sense and seems like a probable problem. But hey what do i know.

I fully agree JMT. Hands down some of the best acting performances ever. the movie really showed me that sometimes in life we have to put aside the things we love most in order to be steady. Even our dreams (spiderman 2 quote FTW lol). This is actually one of the films ive seen in which i think is extremely overrated. I guess a lot of people looked at it like "oh great dicaprio and winslet again" pertaining to titanic (which is one of my favorite movies, call me gay but ya haha).

I like Leo in lots of his movies. I am waiting to see Revolutionary Road with my sister who wants to get it from the dvd place. But to this day, my very fave movie is What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He is just so amazing as the boy, and your heart just breaks seeing his family situation, knowing that its the older brother raising him, and also taking care of the invalid mom. Leo did so good as the disabled brother. I still get teary eyed when its the birthday party and he goes up to see momma for his birthday song, and he realizes she's no longer with them, and its just heartbreaking, and to see the family decide what they have to do to save the mom's dignity and also save their family from breaking apart from the watchful scrutiny of the town. I still did like Titanic, but however, Gilbert Grape is the one that I always go to for the one that has every side of Leo, happiness, sadness, confusion, innocence...just a terrific movie in my view. :)
