Excellent New Jersey Restaurants

D-Man

Gone but never forgotten.
So, tDigs asked that I create a thread to honor some of my state's wonderful eating establishments. Now, since we never narrowed down a category, I'll try to spread my first post between a few different cuisines.

Italian - Nicola's Restaurant - Totowa, NJ
We ARE talking about New Jersey, ya know, so we need to start Italian. Nicola's just opened a little over a year ago and the place has been packed ever since. It is a comfortable, large restaurant, with a traditional Italian menu and weekend specials that will knock your socks off. The prices average about $17 per plate, so it's not super expensive.
(I suggest: Veal Osso Bucco)

Sushi - East Toyko - Mahwah, NJ
You can thank IC25 for this one. I'm hooked on this place because of him. It has a quiet atmosphere with an extremely friendly staff. Thursdays are 1/2 price sushi night!!! Now, while that may scare a lot of people off, please know that this place has gotten a HUGE stamp of approval, even before they began these Thursday specials.
(I suggest: Spicy Scallop Handroll)

All-American Pigout - The Hot Grill - Clifton, NJ
Yeah, I said it. As far as I'm concerned, this is the greatest All-American pigout joint in northern New Jersey. Jack Swagger would approve. They are famous for their Hot Texas Weiners; hot dogs ordered "All the Way", which means they are topped with mustard, onions, and their famous chili sauce. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, they've got burgers, sandwiches, fries, steaks, chops, and even salads!
(I suggest: Anything topped with chili sauce)

Feel free to add to the list, my fellow residents of New Jersey!

Lava Bar and Grill in Wayne. I have residency there with a couple of my artist friends. Also if they get their act together Cafe Arabica. It's a hookah lounge with Grade A food.

LOL... ok, you've got a point. But believe it or not, Dirty Jersey has some clean eateries.

Bobby Flay Steak - Atlantic City, NJ (Borgata Hotel Casino)

I had a friend recently take me there one night for dinner, and it was amazing. Granted, the prices are kind of expensive. But the food is great. The spicy southwest ribeye is in a class of it's own. I need to thank her again for taking me.

Granted, not all of us can afford something like that. So, I'd like to recommend a couple other places.

Best Food In Town - Somers Point, NJ

Sounds like a very presumptuous name for a Chinese restaurant, but they're not lying. Haha. I've been ordering from this place for almost 4 years now. Hell, they even know me by name and have my order memorized. Their prices are extremely affordable, and their portions are crazy (in a good way). I've put so many people onto this place, and not one of them has hated me for it.

White House Sub Shop - Atlantic City, NJ

Every time my relatives come in from out of town, that's the first place they want to go to. They're famous for their sub rolls, and rightfully so (freshly delivered every hour). My only complaint is that the place is usually packed...so expect to wait a little bit.

*I'd also recommend Vic's Subs in Absecon.

Tony Boloney's Pizzeria - Atlantic City, NJ

Don't let the name fool you, this is place has great food. Mainly known for their pizza (which is probably some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life), but their wings aren't bad either. The staff is very friendly as well. Definitely try the Ducktown Melt if you go. It's hot roast beef, with bacon and melted mozzarella cheese on toasted garlic bread. Or try the Sweet 21 (honey BBQ chicken with melted mozzarella).

Do they still have that Fuddrucker's on Route 4 in Paramus?

Love those burgers.

Yes and the one on 23 is still there although I personally think it's shit.

Oh, ho. Them's fightin' words, Mr. Crashin.

It's you vs. me on 23 for a Burger War.

Rolling Rocks are on me.

I'm sorry but every time I've been there the burgers tasted like shit.

All right...if Fuddrucker's is the best New Jersey has to offer, then it deserves its reputation as a a piece of shit.
