Savior of Silence

Occasional Pre-Show
I'm unbelievably bored down here in the dungeons and I need something to take my mind off the smell of the other prisoner's rotting corpses. So we're going to have a little tournament to determine the greatest movie villain of all time (or the greatest movie villain of the 16 that I've selected).

I have no way to seed these filthy bastards so I'm going to be doing a random draw. The first rounds will be posted tonight at 8 pm EST. There will be 2 days of voting in each round. In the event of a tie, both participants will move on to the next round.

The nominees - in no particular order - are....

1. The Joker (The Dark Knight)
2. Darth Vader (Star Wars)
3. Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter)
4. Commodus (Gladiator)
5. Calvin Candie (Django Unchained)
6. Alonzo Harris (Training Day)
7. Bill "The Butcher" Cutting (Gangs of New York)
8. Edward Rooney (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
9. Magneto (X-Men)
10. Ivan Drago (Rocky IV)
11. Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th)
12. Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm Street)
13. General Zod (Superman)
14. Biff Tannen (Back to the Future)
15. Agent Smith (The Matrix)
16. Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs)

How did you come up with your selection of villains? It is a well rounded group but obviously we are missing Kahn (Star Trek).

I just kind of came up with some villains really. I tried to pick iconic people that are easily recognizable to everybody. I honestly completely forgot about Khan. If you had to pick somebody to be taken off the list and replaced with Khan who would it be?

Do me a favor though...try and spread the word about this tourny a bit for me? I'd really like to see a decent amount of voters here. If all goes well I can keep doing things like this at least until I'm finally let out of this Hell.

Nice roster there. Some fan favourites, some guys with no chance of winning, and some others that might just pull off a surprise. A tournament of iconic heroes (not necessarily superheroes) at some point would be cool too.

Agreed. I plan on continuing these types of tournaments. Should I ever get released from The Prison, I'll probably move them to part of the spam section with higher traffic than here. 7 or 8 votes in each thread is not a success imo.

While the finals of this one are going on, I'll likely post another poll with ideas for the next tournament to be voted on.

So far I'm thinking, Best Movie Hero, Best 90's cartoons, Best Video Game Heroes/Villains, etc.

You missed the leatherface and ColonelNathan R. Jessup .
I will go with Voldemort, man he was twisted evil and ready to kill anyone at any place. Hell he even murdered his grandparents, father , responsible for maternal uncle and may others without any reason just to prove his superiority.

For me its a tie between Voldemort and The Dark Knight Joker. Probably going to say Voldemort because man that guy did some fucked up things.

Honorable mention to Alonzo Harris

(On a side note. I understand that you want to get out of the prison but remember the bit where they said no complaining? They may view you as asking people to direct traffic here as complaining)

There has to be special rules for each encounter or, like Nightmare implied, Magneto would obliterate every opponent.

Maybe, if you have the time and patience, let us vote on what type of fight they'll have. I'm assuming that this isn't just a popularity contest and we'll be expected to debate the strengths and weaknesses each character would have in a particular encounter.

Throw a few joke options up there like "Jello Kiddie Pool Wrestling" or "Plain Old Chess" or "Presidential Run" where you have to assume that both men are the nominees of a political party of your choosing.

I love your selection, I just want to make sure that some of the more aloof villains get a fighting chance against the most homicidal villains. Maybe bump it up to 32 villains before the whole thing is finalized.

*AHEM*

Magneto's telekinetic power over all magnetic compositions of metal is a natural ability, and therefore couldn't be countered with sorcery. Magneto can also effect magnetic objects just through awareness of their existence.

Magneto would only need to drop a satellite on Voldemort. Most structures are reinforced with the type of steel that contains iron, Magneto could turn Hogwarts to rubble from a hundred yards away.

But Hogwarts is reinforced with magic.

I am not talking who is more is more powerful in that case Galactus, Sauron or Doomsday are most dangerous.
Voldemort is just evil even more than Magneto who loved , married and is father but Dark lord never loved anybody apart from himself and he was ready to murder from new born child to 70-80 year old man .

I get where you're coming from but I'm not really complaining. I just want the tournament to get some exposure. Like I said, 7 or 8 votes in each thread is not really a success imo.

I like where your head is at. SO 16 more people will enter the fray at the end of this first round so that 16 more villains may enter in the second half of the first round.

The entire first round will be standard rules. I won't let you guys vote on the type of battles they'll have in future rounds as people will likely vote for whichever they feel will get their person the farthest. All future rounds will be decided by random draw.
