Life's A Bitch, And Then You Mosh
Call it a media stunt, call it a darkhorse campaign, call it whatever you want...Lane Kiffin has been running ads, billboards, and radio spots pushing for his star safety, Eric Berry, to win the Heisman Trophy this year. No other defenseive player not named Charles Woodson has ever won the trophy, and it doesn't look feasible this year.

Berry is by far, the biggest star on his team, and is also the best defensive back in college football. He's also in consideration as one of the best defensive players, period, in the country. That's a lot to live up to, but he's quietly done it over the course of his college career at Tennessee.

When all this was announced, everyone was basically leaving the argument to Tebow, Bradford, and McCoy. They're all QBs, they're all on teams with championship aspirations, and all attend schools with much more power than Tennessee currently has, or has had since that guy Peyton left longer than a decade ago.

With Bradford getting hurt, and missing up to a month, he'd have to have a rather stellar season to get into consideration. This could move Berry to 3rd by default, but it still is a reach to call him a contender.

While I think he's certainly in the conversation, I don't see him receiving any first place votes, and will finish a distant 4rd, maybe 4th. What about you?
