It is said that in every era there is a Dovahkiin (Dragon tongue for “Dragonborn”), an individual with the body of a mortal but the blood and soul of a dragon. This gift is bestowed by the gods, and allows the Dovahkiin to accomplish tasks that most mortals could hardly comprehend. By slaying dragons and absorbing their essence, the Dragonborn is arguably the most powerful fighter in all of Skyrim.

For the sake of argument, this Dovahkiin is going to be the one that appears as the Skyrim mascot, a Nord that is clothed in iron armor wielding a sword and a shield. However, it is safe to assume that these are hardly the only weapons at the Dragonborn’s disposal. The Dragonborn is capable of using one-handed and two-handed weapons as well as a bow, crossbow, and even magic. However, it’s the Dovahkiin’s shouting ability that sets him apart from the rest of Skyrim’s warriors.

Shouts are really dragon shouts, which combines three words in dragon tongue to create a powerful effect. Perhaps the most well known shout is Unrelenting Force, created by uttering the words “Fus-Ro-Dah.” This shout has the power to send foes flying through the air as if they were just knocked off their feet by a powerful gust of wind. This is, of course, not the only dragon shout. Other shouts allow the Dragonborn to breath fire or ice, slow time, move at extreme speeds, or call a vicious lightning storm.

With the years of training and the compliment of his dragon shouts, the Dovahkiin will be a force to be reckoned with. Whether it’s close quarter combat or a shoot out, the Dragonborn can adapt to any type of battle.

Powers
  • Dragon shouts- The Dovahkiin has the unnatural ability to learn and master the use dragon shouts almost immediately after learning them. These shouts vary in effect, some of them are used offensively, some of them are used defensively.
  • Magical ability- The Dovahkiin is able to cast magic spells. Destruction spells allow the Dragonborn to use fire, ice, or electricity to damage his opponent. Alteration spells allow the Dragonborn to make physical changes to the battle environment. Illusion spells can mentally manipulate the Dragonborn’s opponent. Restoration spells allow the Dragonborn to heal himself and protect him from magical attacks. Finally, the Dragonborn is able to conjure allies, often time from beyond the grave. Typically the Dragonborn can create a ghostly wolf or raise a skeleton to help him in battle. These creatures are weak, but provide a useful distraction for the Dragonborn.
  • Enchanted weaponry- The Dovahkiin’s weapons are often enchanted with various abilities, including health absorption, fire damage, or the ability to induce paralysis.

Abilities
  • Expert soldier- The Dovahkiin is an extremely proficient soldier. He is able to wield any weapon successfully and use it to destroy his enemies. Swords, axes, maces, hammers, shields, bows, crossbows, great swords, and battle-axes are all familiar weapons to The Dragonborn.
  • Sneaking- The Dragonborn is also highly successful in the ways of the thief. He can sneak around unnoticed if he utilizes the proper techniques, pickpocket enemies, and create and utilize powerful poisons.
  • Resist Cold- Because this Dovahkiin is a Nord, it means he is resistant to cold. Nords are natives of Skyrim, a country that is subject to long, bitter cold winters, and their Nordic blood has grown used to this weather. As such, ice attacks are less successful against the Dovahkiin than they would be against other races.

Assets
  • Enchanted Weaponry- The Dovahkiin is likely carrying around all sorts of weaponry with various enchantments suited for his battle style.
  • Iron Armor- The Dovahkiin is cloaked head to toe in iron armor.
