Does This Mean The Triple Threat Is On?

On last night's Raw, during the highly energetic six man tag team match, Seth Rollins surprised me by ultimately leaving Ambrose & Reigns high and dry in their match against The Wyatt Family. I liked the storytelling with Rollins ultimately getting fed up with trying to keep things cohesive amidst the childish squabbling of Ambrose & Reigns. During the match, for instance, Ambrose's temper got the best of him and he ran around to the other side of the ring, with Reigns in tow to try and keep things cool. At the same time, Rollins made it to the corner to make the tag only to find it empty. Initially, I thought they were gonna continue down the road of making it seem like that Ambrose's instability was ultimately gonna cost The Shield another victory. He "disappeared" at the Rumble, with the presumption being that Wyatt was able to lay him out backstage somewhere, and I looked for some screw up on his part to cost them. Rollins, after he jumped off the apron, told Reigns he was tired of being the glue that held everything together. He didn't go to the back, but watched with what looked, to me at least, like an torn expression of wanting to go back but also feeling that Ambrose was getting what he deserved.

Generally speaking, Rollins really has been the one in the role of peacekeeper while Reigns & Ambrose's egos have started to run wild. I thought it was a nice change, especially when you consider how strong Rollins is inside the ring. I'm thinking that last night was the start of Rollins essentially saying that he's as important to the group as Reigns & Ambrose and that he's got a lot more to contribute to the business than simply making sure Reigns & Ambrose don't kill each other. As a result, I'm thinking that WWE is going forward with a triple threat match between them at WrestleMania with the US title on the line.

A triple threat is possible, yet I wouldn't be surprised if their split isn't as official as it seems. Perhaps we'll see them as a team again on Friday night, or next Monday, ready to burst apart at the seams but not quite there yet.

If that's the case, I'm wondering if the official breakup of the group doesn't come at WM30......because if it comes earlier (or has happened already) what do these guys do at the big event? If they're fighting each other now, there isn't enough time to build proper feuds against anyone else.

Of course, one thing that could lead to them fighting each other is the surprising defection of Seth Rollins. As the peacekeeper, he's the last one I would have thought to leave first, but events dictated it; that was a fine piece of writing by Creative. Before that, all the internal heat was on Ambrose. As the loose cannon, he was the one on whom Reigns and Rollins might have ganged up. That would preclude a three-way because Reigns and Rollins would have no reason to go after each other.

Now, anything goes, which makes the whole scenario interesting. Even if the split hasn't officially happened yet, it's coming fast.

When a group as tight and influential as Shield breaks apart, it should happen with an explosion rather than a simple parting of the ways.

I liked that change from last night. Always thought its Reigns who would walk away from Ambrose but now I see that Rollins is perfect solution. They can create good story around it without even having heel/face in it. Just who is the best of Shield. Ambrose has claims as US champion, Reigns as powerhorse and perhaps most dominant being that he set record on Survival Series eliminations and RR eliminations and Rollins as someone who is overlooked in this whole thing and wants to prove that he is better. Just have them compete in that tripple threat as who is better and would be awesome storyline and match. :)

To be honest I wasn't overly interested in a Shield triple threat as I did (and still do) feel there is more that can be done in their feud with The Wyatt's. However Rollins actions on Raw took the angle in an interesting direction as he finally got more of a stake in any potential match between the 3.

I'm not completely sure WWE will go with a triple threat although I don't see many other avenues for them at this juncture. If they do I maintain that it should be a TLC match, however either way the storytelling is coming together now and continues the run of The Shield being the best booked set of up and comers in many a moon..

^ yeah the chemistry between the Wyatts & Shield is awesome and made for some great matches

it would have been nice to have seen the Shield win last night, even with Rollins walking out on them .. as that would have made the series 1-1

but with the WWE seemingly set on Bray Wyatt vs John Cena at WM XXX, it's probably more important to try to split the Shield up by Mania time

curious to see how it concludes, as it's definitely a well developed interesting storyline.

Agree on the booking of the Shield, as yes they do win a majority of the time, but their matches are still fresh and interesting to watch

I agree, last night's twist with the Shield was a welcome one. I always wondered how they were going to bring Rollins into it as someone with his own axe to grind against the others. So far, it's always seemed like Reigns and Rollins in tow Vs. Ambrose. Now, Rollins has staked out a side for himself. BTW, OMG what a great performance last night by Rollins and Harper. Everyone did a great job, but those two really stood out. The only downside to this Wyatt/Shield feud is that it's nearing its end.

I could watch this all the way up to WrestleMania.

looking like Triple Threats for the WWE Title, IC Title, US Title and Tag Titles at this rate.
ORTON VS BRYAN VS BATISTA
BIG E VS CESARO VS SWAGGER
AMBROSE VS REIGNS VS ROLLINS
USOS VS OUTLAWS VS MATADORES

I doubt it. It just shows development on how the division in The Shield is going. If anything, it'll make the unit stronger. It's too early for their split. I'd like to see them get another go at the tag team titles again

We will either see a triple threat or we'll see reigns vs ambrose with Rollins as special guest ref. They could play him off against each other, making him pick a side until mania when in a final statement he tells them he's made his decision. He counts the winner then basement dropkicks them, and hits the blackout for a full face/heel turn depending on who wins.

Rollins has won me over as my favourite member of The Shield. I think his mic skills are underrated. Whilst maybe there's some work to do on the mic, I think he holds his own. But in my opinion it's not even a question that he's the most superior in the ring of the three. Definitely in terms of uniqueness and athleticism. I think it would be a great twist if they were to have Rollins win the title at Mania instead of Reigns. To me, it would set up an Ambrose vs Reigns feud which could take us through Extreme Rules and Payback, and then you could have Reigns have his big singles moment at MitB.
It would also mean Seth Rollins could pull away and make a name for himself as a singles competitor. I'd love to see matches for the US title between Rollins/Ziggler, Rollins/Cody, and even Del Rio or Sheamus.

Anyway, that's my opinion on the outcome. On whether we'll see the match, I absolutely think so. I still have doubts that Bryan is going into the ME. To me, they're going to run with Trips/Bryan. Which means The Shield Triple Threat is a given.

The IWC wants HHH Vs Bryan, but the thing is, HHH won't want to job to Bryan, his ego is too big, so when Daniel Bryan promptly gets handed his ass at Mania, the IWC will then go on a rant about their boy getting buried by the Authority again.

As for The Shield, I would rather they go with Ambrose versus Big E to unify the IC and US belts, and Rollins/Reigns against Harper and Rowan of the Wyatts, which leaves Bray Wyatt against John Cena.
