Do you read spoilers?

I usually end up reading the SmackDown spoilers on Tuesday nights and read Impact spoilers too when they are not live. I usually read them just because I can and I'm impatient I guess.

Do you read spoilers? Why do/don't you read spoilers? How does it affect your enjoyment of the shows?

No I don't because I want to see everything happening while I'm watching it. It just isn't as fun to me knowing what's going to happen before the show plays out

I usually read all the spoilers, but knowing the matches and stuff does not mean anything and I learned a lot about it. I read the day that Christian lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Randy Orton and I was really excited to see that happen, I knew that something was going to happen in booking wise, and it did and I still love that match. I am a fan, I love the business so knowing what will happen doesn't affect me at all. Watching it really happen is a whole new thing.

The only advantage for me in a live show his the audience being much more alive. I hate the fake pops on SmackDown, I really do.

The only spoilers I will read is Smackdown. I don't read Impact because it is TNA's only show and I like to see it happen for the first time on tv. After watching Raw live I tend to want to see what is going to happen on Friday asap. It does not affect how I watch Smackdown or my enjoyment of it. Honestly I just kinda skim the spoilers to see if anything outstanding happened, and I am so busy the rest of the week it's almost like watching the show live anyway. All in all the spoilers do not affect the product at all for me.

Back when WWE was more popular and I just couldn't wait to see what happened next, I did read spoilers. I rarely read them anymore because it just isn't the same knowing what is going to happen before it does. This is why Smackdown needs to be a live show. No one can debut on Smackdown without it being leaked on Tuesday night. That tends to make the event itself less impactful.

I prefer to not read the spoilers. The show is more enjoyable for me if I do not know the results. If something HUGE happens on Smackdown such as when Edge or Swagger cashed in their Money In the Bank contracts, then those spoilers generally get tagged at websites as "shocking spoiler" or "massive spoiler" rather than the typical "Spoilers: Results for Smackdown" caption. If I watch a show that isn't live without reading any spoilers, then it's almost like watching it live anyhow. It feels more unpredicatable and even knowing the matches of the night without results takes away a little of the enjoyment for me.

Unless results are tagged with "shocking/massive" spoilers, I avoid them. If it's something as huge as a new World Champion then it does not take away enjoyment since it's something I want to see even if it got spoiled, kind of like when WCW spoiled that Mankind won the WWF Championship, like many others I wanted to see it anyhow! Same applies to modern title wins or other important events that get spoiled.

I read the Impact spoilers when they're not live. Its just something that I've been doing for over 10 years. Used to read the Smackdown spoilers when I was still watching WWF/E. It doesn't ruin the show for me per se; sometimes it makes me want to watch even more depending on what's happening. At times, the spoilers aren't very thorough, as some parts are omitted. Those who post the Impact spoilers usually only do the quick results, so some of the backstage segments are missing.

I tend to read the Smackdown spoilers because I am a father of three girls under 5 years old ... I just don't have time to watch all this shit every week.

When I know I have the time, I stay away from spoilers because I like to see what is going to happen.

It is tough right now to keep from clicking on all these damn RAW 1,000 spoilers!

Like Dagger Dias said, I tend to stay away from spoilers such as new champions or new number one contenders. I will usually read the smackdown spoilers if nothing big happened. But if it says there is a new champion or some big angle, i will wait to watch it because i want to see it happen. My big thing is i watched brock lesnar return live, so i thpought about if i had read that before watching it, it would have ruined it for me, so i tend to watch raw live and read the smackdown spoilers.

I do everything I can to avoid them, at all cost, for two very important reasons:

1. Context. They lack it. 99% of spoilers are not simply informative reports, but rather write-ins from often obviously biased fans who give little to no context about what they are reporting. When you read "Samoa Joe def. James Storm", you think "cool, now I know the outcome... no point in watching", but what you have no information about is the psychology during the match. Maybe a small hint was made toward a heel or face turn? Maybe the announcers brought up some important note during the broadcast that related to the match itself? There are literally dozens of things that could have happend during it, and because of it that matter that you are now dismissing based on a completely lackluster "report".

2. They're called spoilers for a reason — they spoil, as in ruin. What's the point in reading a book if you know the main character dies after falling down a mine shaft 100 pages in? What's the point in watching a television series if you know the janitor is the killer because you read it before you even watched the first episode? Extrapolate — it applies all the way up the ladder. Spoilers destroy the enjoyment of watching a program.

I try not to read the spoilers, but sometimes i can't just help it. Sometimes it is hard when you are on a site, and then all of sudden, you see, "Sycho Sid is returning tonight on Raw!!" I had to read it, when I see something that pops up to my attention, i got to read it. I told myself, couple weeks ago, to not read the spoilers because i want to be surprise to see what legend returned. It didn't work, cause my friend told me anyway that Bob Backlund was returning.
