bad experiences with that...in that i can never work out how to do it properly

Be it a 6 hour tape, or an 8 hour tape.. its really simple. Two logical ways to do it. (assuming you can't work the "set to record at this time" issue)

1. The Pay Per View is under 3 hours. So simply start recording blank air whenever you go to bed, but make sure the tape won't run out before the Pay Per View is over.

2. Stay up until it at least starts, then hit record. When you wake up, it should be finished.

And if your bad experiences are the tape randomly shutting itself off, or the V.C.R. randomly kicking the tape out.. :disappointed: I've had those issues myself. I'm going to suggest the new wave of digital quality in recording. D.V.R. Its quick, its simple, its easy, it won't kick your tape out when you want to record something thats very important.

You just click "record" on the show you want. It'll start and finish. (word to the wise -- if you're recording a show that either starts early or finishes late.. alter the start/stop time on the recording feature. I had an issue with that for E.C.W. It stopped at 10p.m., my time, and the Main Event still wasn't over)

the setup of my VCR was weird and kept being set to the wrong channel etc...or else my dad would change to watch golf and i'd get tv marketing all night instead of the wrestling. I think i can manage the DVD recorder, but I don't trust it either. i'll just sit up to watch it i think. Not as if i'm paying to watch it

You get it for free? :( I'm paying $50.00 for HD...

Man, no wonder my ass hurts. The satellite company just fucked the shit out of it. :disappointed:

the joys of the UK. Some are PPV though - Summerslam, Armageddon, Rumble, No Mercy and WM usually. but the others are usually free on satellite

Thats the weirdest group of "pay" shows I've seen. I understand the Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania & Summerslam ones.. but No Mercy & Armageddon?

I mean, only recently were they even tri-branded, before they were just Smackdown only. Who'd (outside of me) wanna pay to watch that?!

And Survivor Series is free there.. wow, interesting. I'm pretty sure it won't go over well, or at all, but this is a great excus.. errr, idea.. to move to England. :lmao:

Here, it's the joys of being a former English territory...I have no idea. The local stations here just play them...all of them. Last year, they stopped for some reason. Continued this year, Wrestlemania, every single PPV. Only disadvantage, is the sometimes crappy signal, but I'm getting shit free, I won't complain.

I'm not even sure if the Caribbean gets PPV....o.O

There's a reason...They used to have Rumble, WM and occassionally Armageddon as PPV, and then decided to add in No Mercy so you got the four in a row and they took a bit off so you felt like it was a good deal

i can't afford to throw down the money for the ppv. At barely making 140 a week and variably getting paid to umpire little league games, I may have to give up the blast area excursions, too.

Didn't you just quit a job?

As for Polley's question, why don't you just go to bed now, then when it comes on get up, and watch it, and then go to bed when it's over

I did, but I got a new one that is only part time. My problem is that no one will hire me because I will only be around the area through August.

I actually had interviews for some pretty decent jobs, but the employers grew sour when they learned that I was only available through August. Turds.

Well you don't tell them that, when Aug. comes you just quit

That's not very virtuous. I like to go the honest route. Plus, if you do that, then they can give you a bad recommendation for any future employment. I don't really want that looming over my future.

You know they have laws against that now, the only thing a former employer is allowed to tell your potential new employer is that you did work there, and when you started and when you finished working there, they may also be allowed to tell them how how much you were making too, I'm not sure
