While the Divas as a whole are more relevant than they have been in quite possibly ever, there's still a LOT, LOT, LOT of work to do before the Divas are at the level where giving them their own Elimination Chamber match doesn't sound like some sort of April Fool's joke. We've all speculated that whatever the reason may be, Vince McMahon doesn't believe that women on the WWE roster can be, should be or some combination of both as relevant as their male counterparts. Historically speaking, women's wrestling has never been any real significant draw in the United States; this doesn't mean that women wrestlers aren't talented, that they don't have the ability or aren't as passionate about it as male wrestlers, but it's more of a societal perception than anything else.
While the view of women in terms of physicality is slowly changing, it's still a common perception to view women as the "weaker" sex and therefore are uninteresting to watch in fighting, or even mock fighting for that matter, when compared to men. It's not just a point of view in American society, but in pretty much every other society around the world. When it comes to contact sports, boys are supposed to play them, but not girls. When it comes to fighting in the military, men are supposed to but women aren't. When it comes to displays of physical masculine prowess, it's "unnatural" for women to participate the way men do. Now is that outdated nonsense in my opinion? Sure I do, but it's nonsense that's not gonna change anytime in the near future. Someone that's sorta changing perceptions regarding women is Ronda Rousey; after all, she's an Olympic medalist in Judo, is undefeated in her pro MMA career and is the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. However, at the same time, I think it's fair to say that part of the reason why she's become such a sensation is not only because of her prowess as a fighter, it's also because she's pretty damn hot; it's not the only reason of course, but it's a valid one. If she had a mohawk, a less than svelte figure and a face that could derail a freight train, she wouldn't be as popular as she is even if she was just as good of a fighter.
In pro wrestling, the view of women being "inferior" to their male counterparts is alive and well as a whole. While WWE and TNA have female wrestlers on their rosters who're quite talented, a big part of the reason they're on the roster in the first place is because they're pretty and look good in skimpy and/or skin tight outfits. It's also a factor to be considered for the women in NXT, though the sexual attractiveness isn't nearly as heavily pronounced. Other well known or established wrestling companies like ROH, New Japan, All Japan, Noah and some others don't even have a women's division.
Anyhow, I've sort of gotten off track. As of right now, I don't believe the Divas on the main roster are viewed with anything close to being "serious enough" for people to expect an all female EC match. Until/unless they're booked and portrayed with the same degree of respect and relevancy as the men on the roster, an EC match would be wasted because they're not viewed as "competitors" in the same light as the men are. IF Triple H was the one ultimately in charge, IF he could do things his way and IF he overhauled the Divas on the main roster with a year to build them up & rebrand them, then I think fans would take the notion of a Divas EC match seriously and be interested in watching it. Otherwise, the feeling I get would be a match built on a bunch of outdated "sports entertainment" segments and various "sports entertainment" nonsense aimed at being comedic during the match itself.
