His initial idea was for Reigns to have Undertaker beat in epic match, but gets caught in hells gate for the pass out. Undertaker basically gave it all he had, and won. After match offers handshake but Reigns kicks him low and leaves to chorus of boos.
Next night on Raw, Reigns comes out to apologize. Calls Taker out, saying it was a heat of the moment thing and he wants to apologize. It was a heat of a moment thing, and he's not a bad loser. Samoa Joe (debut) answers his call and they have a massive brawl. This continues over the next few weeks, culminating with a last man standing match.
Over the summer Reigns calls Taker out for the rematch. Every week he calls Taker out with personal insults. Taker eventually relents, and they have a match at summerslam. What happened at mania this year, would have a happened at summerslam. Now most see Taker as finished. Reigns ended him etc
Instead, Cena wants Taker to have one more match. Calls Taker out to go out on a high at wrestlemania with the one man he should have faced etc. Then you have the taker vs cena match this year, as his swansong. Everyone knows it's Undertakers last match and the hype is huge.
