Different GM every championship.

What would you guys think of having a different General Manager in charge of the Championships instead of actual shows now that there is no brand split. For example.
The Authority in charge of booking the WWE Championship.
Edge and Christian GM for the tag championship - coming up with contenders and creating tag teams.
Sting and Shawn Michaels GM of the US & Intercontinental Championships.

I'm not saying this is a great idea, just something that could be played with and to think about. I quite enjoy this idea because of the diversity of each segment.
The Authority would be as they are now, Edge and Christian would bring a lot of humor, Sting would bring a lot of prestige back to the US Championship and Michaels who would have the work horses and the "smaller wrestlers" compete for the title.

Cheers.

Doesn't do it for me. It convolutes an already redundant and flat out tired gimmick that's been done to death: the on-air authority figure.

We've seen everything from "presidents" to "commissioners" to "general managers" as regular, on-screen characters since the 90s and this would make the gimmick even more redundant. It'd be like an executive having 3 or 4 different secretaries where one of them would type, one to answer the phone, one to get coffee and one to staple documents together. to do the job that only one is really required for Plus, it's ultimately just a cheap, flimsy way of getting certain legends on television just for the sake of them appearing.

Also, depending on the time of year, Vince's level of interest in whomever happens to be champion or in the middle of a push to be champion and what event is coming up; some championships are always going to be a lot more attention and prevalence than others. I agree that WWE does misuse its champs and titles sometimes, as does every other wrestling company, but it wouldn't be long before you'd have complaints that the IC & US titles aren't being "used" enough or defended enough, more tag teams need to be added, they're tired of wrestler A as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, etc. Even though those same complaints are lodged almost on a daily basis by someone, it'd probably only be enhanced if a beloved childhood legend was the "General Manager" put in charge of a championship because they're not on TV enough or something.

Nah, don't like the idea either. I don't mind the idea of a single GM, maybe in today's case working as a babyface in opposition to The Authority.

Nah.. they need to be pairing back the GM/Authority roles not adding more... Frankly they need someone like Jack Tunney... neither face or heel, rarely onscreen and only brought out for major developments or an edict "from the office of...". Look at it in reality, he was probably the best GM they had other than Regal... Mark Calloway would be perfect for this without the Taker gimmick.. Steve Borden without Sting likewise...

Nope, no honour and no prestige will be restored in the title based on who is making the matches. What matters, are the wrestlers fighting for the titles, and more importantly, the storylines that are written for them. Only these two things can bring honour, prestige or interest back to the midcard titles. Sting or HBK announcing Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz won't make the match any more interesting.

Not only do not think it would be entertaining, take for consideration that the WWE is trying to cut costs. Why would they pay people to be on tv sporadically just to be title GMs?

Definitely not a fan of this idea. They hardly even need a different GM for Smackdown let alone a different GM for each championship tier. If they can't find a need for having a different GM per show, then why do a different one per championship tier? The Authority are all we need right now in terms of the onscreen authority figures. There's nothing that all of these extra unnecessary GM's would do that Trips, Stephanie, and Kane cannot do. The Authority should remain in charge of every onscreen aspect of the show until the angle ends, and if a GM is needed afterwards then the traditional format of one GM per show (one on Raw, a second on Smackdown or just one for both) would suffice.

but the Authority would still have way more power than the GM no? unless the GM is someone like Vince i dont think the GM would go over the Authority's...authority.

the Authority also being on the show would make the GM useless, so no i dont think its a good idea because of that, and because honestly the GM angle has been done past death by WWE

This ideal is almost like a crappy Christmas present"It's the thought that counts." At least you tried unlike WWE creative. Icons, Legends & HOFers should be used sparingly. Q:Why was the opening of Wrestlemania special? A: Because Hogan, Rock & Austin were in the ring at the same time and thats something we rarely see plus Rock & Austin rode Hogan's @$$ for not knowing where he was. Ric Flair(as much as we love & respect him) and Hogan need to go away and only appear at Wrestlemania since they don't really add anything to RAW or Smackdown.

I see what you're saying. You mean people in charge for each division. I think it could make for some good TV.

WWE Championship- Triple H
Diva's Championship- Stephanie McMahon
Intercontinental Championship- Ric Flair
United States Championship- Booker T
Tag Team Championship- Arn Anderson

I think that could work, but only if they use guys already under contract. There's no point in hiring guys just to do that. It's better if it's like occasional Jack Tunney-type of appearances. There's no need to have Arn Anderson out there every week to handle the tag title scene, only a few times.

This sounds like a bad idea..I just feel we would be getting way to many authority figures in too small of a time frame. I'd much rather prefer that WWE goes & finishes the authority figure in the coming months by having Vince return and play the same game that HHH played on him by going and saying "The BOD doesn't think you should run WWE shows anymore, I love you son" than introduces the NEW authority figure - Hulk Hogan.

The WWE wants Hulk & Hulk wants WWE. It's simple, both sides are happy. Plus we know Hulk won't be turning heel (unless some outsiders show up) so he can be the good GM that just calls the shots and does NOT get PHYSICAL.
