Did you find anything wrong with Predator 2

Alex

King Of The Wasteland
So I was wondering why do people dislike Predator 2. When I bought it I was expecting it to be crap to mediocre because of all the shit it was being given. However I really like it, I liked how it moved to a city instead of being in a jungle, I liked how it gave a bit more insight into the ways of a Predator (not hurting pregnant women or children) and I especially liked the ending where you found out that they had been coming to Earth for hundreds of years before.

Is the reason people not like it is because Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't in it because that's the only thing I can think of, the plot was pretty much the same (Predator hunting humans and the protaganist trying to stop it) and the only main difference was the setting.

First things first, you bought a Movie thinking it was gonna be shit?

I'm not sure but I think the main problem people have with it as the fact that in the first movie you have the Predator taking apart a highly trained group of Commandos, and in the second on you see an everyday Cop going after the Predator, that's the only reason I can think of for why people didn't like it

No I bought it to see what it was like, but heard how much it was supposed to be shit

I didn't actually think of that, but don't forget the Predator was kicking all sorts of ass in 2 (warring gangsters, cops and special operatives) and one could argue the reason Danny Glover had a slightly easier time defeating the Predator was because it was using the Predator's weapons against it.

When Danny Glover is the biggest name on the cast list, you know a movie is going to struggle to gain attention, Predator or no Predator. The acting for the most part throughout that movie is atrocious. Especially that cop who keeps making wise cracks the whole way through. God i wanted to punch him every time he spoke because his acting was soooooo bad. Hell, maybe that's how we was told to portray the character, but seriously, it was shit.

I literally remember very little about this sequel, whereas i could probably quote Predator 1 word for word.

Predator 2 highlights how inept the Predator actually is. In the first one he takes out a squad of commandos and only falls foul to the biggest action star of the 80's. In the 2nd he falls foul to Danny Glover.

Predators are easy to kill, as every film involving them except the first has shown. That really makes you question their ultimate hunter label.

It was also better when you knew nothing about them. It's obvious that they're big game hunters in the first, no need for anymore to be said other than that. Training? Respect for opponents? Won't hurt women or children? So basically he's an action hero only presented as a cool villain.

Fuck YOU those parts of it were awesome. You downtrodden english.

The movie was just shit, plain and simple. Cheesy, shit acting, extremely cliched for the times (although it makes it tough to not be given it takes place in the city). Also, like Jake said, the Predator gets whipped by a simple street cop. Shit.

No they were, Norcal. The Predator didn't not kill women & children because they weren't in his league. He didn't kill them because of a moral code. Which is a stupid thing for an alien to have.

The only reason Ripley doesn't get killed in the first 30 minutes of Alien 3 is because the Alien knows she's carrying alien spawn. If she'd been pregnant with a Hicks' baby then she would've had her head punctured.

Why is it stupid for Aliens to have a moral code? do they not have female and pregnant Aliens whom they care for I imagine? So then why wouldnt they be able to understand such things on earth?

Why would they show disregard for adult male humans but not females? It's not like it's ever been established that the Predators in each film or male or female. Maybe they're asexual.

The idea of chivalrous aliens really harms their bad ass status, in my opinion.

Also, as established by Aliens vs. Predator, they won't harm people with bronchitis. I mean, the list of things they won't hurt just gets longer and longer - makes them seem less threatening. Seems like not having a gun is an effective get out clause at times.

Anyway, I don't really mind Predator 2. It's been a while since I watched it in its entirety, granted. The only stand out bit of the film - as in, the bit I most remember - was the Predator's portable stove he carried round with him. Most odd.

Er the same way adult human males show disregaurd for adult human malers, but not women or children?

I dont think being chivalrous and having a code of honor makes something less badass, if anything, it enhances the badassness. Makes them more complex.

Hey man. Sometimes, ya gotta cook stuff. He cant exactly just walk into burger king and order a whopper.

Wait, why did I just defend this movie? its shit

Well I'm fairly sure (may be wrong) but the biggest star in Alien was Ian Holm and I don't think he was that well known in America anyway and Alien was good. The cop making wise cracks was Bill Paxton, who I'm pretty sure does that in most of his movies.

I didn't hate Predator 2 but it was a lot weaker then the first film and definitely hurt the credibility of the Predator as the ultimate hunter. As previously stated, one Predator killed a bunch of marines, whereas the next Predator is bested by a cop of no real esteem. Maybe it was because that particular Predator was a lesser caliber one. However, I don't hate Predator 2 at all and actually quiet enjoy it. It's a fun little film.

However, I will not stand for this Bill Paxton trash talk. Mr. Paxton not only played the cop in Predator 2 but he was also Hudson in Aliens, automatically making him a badass.

Personally, I didn't care for Predator 2, and it's my least favorite Predator movie. I'm not saying it was bad, but I just didn't care for it all that much. My main problem with this movie was the Predator's foe in this movie, Danny Glover. How I'm I supposed to beleive that a regualr cop can take on an alien killing machine like the Predator? In Predator, we saw Arnold and friends, who were all fierce warriors/soliders by the way, literally struggle to take down the Predator, but then in Predator 2, a cop and a ******** special forces agent(Gary Busey) are able to give the creature a run for his money? Come on now.

Also, the whole "Predator reeking havoc in Los Angeles" storyline was kind of silly to me. It kind of reminds me of the T-Rex running around the city in Jurassic Park: The Lost World. The Predator is supposed to hunt people who can "challenge" him. That's why I loved the first Predator film, and I also liked Predators(2010). I'm sorry but after seeing a pack of tough and mean soliders fight the Predator, I just can't buy into Danny Glover and Gary Busey being able to stand a chance against him. I just can't.

Apparently people have misunderstood who the Predator will and will not kill. It has nothing to do with sex. He would've killed the female cop if she wasn't pregnant. It's a sport for it. If it's not competitive game it doesn't see it as sport. Hence, the reason it tried to pass by Weyland in AVP because he was diseased and not challenging sport. That's also why Dutch kicks the gun out of the girls hand in the original Predator. She was the safest one there being that she wasn't a hunter of some sort. *Classic Arnold voice*: "He didn't kill you because you weren't armed. No sport." And frankly I think that makes the Predator much cooler. Why have an alien that just kills to kill? How many movies have already been m ade with that plot? Giving the Predator a code like that gives it character.

Anyways, as far as Predator 2, I liked the movie just because it introduced you to more of the cool stuff it has and does. Maybe a little much, as part of it's mystique was that you didn't know much about it. Yes, the movie itself isn't very good if you wanna be a real critic, but that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. The first one hit the nail on the head with placing the setting in the jungle, so naturally the best contrast would be moving the second to the city. By that measure alone it was doomed to fail. But the kicker for me on the movie is the end where we see their trophies and the proof that they've been doing this for hundreds of years. It really made you want to see them make and Alien vs. Predator and it showed their experience, adding to the character. Now as far as how they did on the AVP movies, that's another story...

The original script had Dutch being in the Gary Busey role... in charge of the guys tracking the Predators and the cop being his brother, setting up a big reveal of Arnie in the middle of the film... When Arnie balked money wise in favour of T2, they downgraded the role and got Danny Glover instead...

The film itself was fine really, a good 2nd part to what could have been a strong trilogy... Arnie signing for Cameron killed what could have been an awesome film

I never found anything wrong with Predator 2 but I do understand why some people hate it because it hurts the aliens credibility as a killer and also because they become a bit friendly at the end but then again I'm not one to look into everything wrong & right about films. I just enjoy what is given to me. But after watching Predators, I kinda wish Predator 2 was never made now or that Predators was a prequel because to see em killed by a cop in part 2 then go back to being a killing machine in Predators ruins their credibility even more but it still doesnt stop me from liking Predator 2.
