How is Witch Doctor?
I've heard he's recently had trouble both doing damage and sustaining mana.

Honestly, it's hard to say definitively because Blizzard just recently implemented a patch in which the number of monsters was buffed, and the health of monsters was buffed. Before this patch, every class could kill everything very easily and without use of any potions. In fact, in my first playthrough as a Barbarian I didn't use a potion once (health orbs drop from creatures) - it just wasn't necessary.
The Witch Doctor doesn't have a free missile attack like other classes, so it makes it a bit harder on them. Think of the Sorceress from Diablo II, for the first few levels you had little mana and little mana recovery, so you could firebolt for a small period of time and then you would have to melee attack them - it's the same for the Witch Doctor. Once you get runes and some passive abilities though those troubles are mitigated a lot.
Honestly, Witch Doctor feels a little underpowered compared to the rest of the classes, but they're all very fun. From what I understand, the Witch Doctor's potential just curves differently than the other classes. The classes start off strong and just get better, whereas the Witch Doctor starts a little weak, but as you gain levels it matches the other classes.

Wizard is great, he/she is more of a Harry Potter-esque wizard than a Diablo II style sorceress. Bonus points for your spells actually coming out of the wand as well.
I've seen Median XL and I know a lot of people who have played it and loved it, but it wasn't for me. I preferred to play the game classic, even though I knew I was missing out to a degree.
