The Diva match was a cluster, but it honestly wasn't nearly the disaster I was expecting. I gave it about 1.5 stars just for being mercifully short and for the lack of utterly mindless chaos that most of us figured it'd be.
Considering how Taker was hurt during the match and obviously not all there, I'd give it a 2.5 to 2.75 stars for the effort. I was also surprised at how restrained Lesnar was because, like a lot of people, I figured Lesnar would just be supremely stiff on Taker. At the same time though, I can understand if people were disappointed, especially given that Taker lost.
I'm a little surprised he rated the six man tag match as well, but maybe he did so only because The Shield went over in such a dominant fashion.
I agree with the rating for the battle royal. Battle royals can be hard to judge as far as ranking or grading. It was better than I was expecting, it didn't just plod on forever as I figured it would and Cesaro winning was a nice surprise.
Cena vs. Wyatt was about a 3.75 stars for me as I thought it featured some damn fine storytelling and Bray Wyatt's character is just so damn fun to watch. It was able to balance out Wyatt losing in a way that didn't cause him to lose any momentum, which was what I was worried would happen.
The tag title match was a lot better than I expected, but he rated it too high in my opinion. I thought it was a 3.25 star bout that could've been better had one or two stronger teams been in the match. For instance, subbing Harper & Rowan for Los Matadores and Goldust & Cody Rhodes for Rybaxel. Had that been the line up, I could see it as a near 4 star bout.
Bryan vs. Triple H seems pretty right to me, maybe 4.5 stars. A lot of action and I like that they didn't try to make the bout look one sided due to Bryan's injury. Sure, Trips got in a lot of offense, but he didn't dominate the match from bell to bell with Bryan only getting in a very brief flurry of offense from time to time.
As for the title match, I'd have to go with 4.75 to 5 stars because of how things were set up. Given that the streak had ended, I honestly had no idea how this match would end. After all, if Taker loses at WrestleMania, then there was no guarantee at all of Daniel Bryan walking out as champion. As a result, every near fall had me on the edge of my seat. Bryan taking the combination RKO/Batista Bomb through the announce table, being stretchered out, climbing off the stretcher, winning the match and leading 75,000 people in a huge "Yes" chant was exactly how the show needed to end. They needed a huge high point in order to balance out the huge shock of Taker's streak ending.
With a total of 8 matches on the card with 5 of them being 3 stars or higher, I'd say Meltzer thought WrestleMania XXX was a success. I'm not at all surprised he ranked Bryan's matches so high. Not that I disagree with him as they were both killer matches, but Meltzer has been a Bryan Danielson mark long before he came to WWE.
