Daniels & Kazarian are the *NEW* TNA Tag Team Champions

The Dragon Saga

Whale in a Teardrop
Surprised there was no IDR or Jack-Hammer thread discussing the sole title change at last night's pay-per-view. It's okay, I can fill the void.

Daniels and Kazarian defeated Samoa Joe and Magnus after a pretty entertaining opening match last night at Sacrifice. Despite Joe and Magnus getting two very close near-falls it was a High-Low from the former Fortune members that picked up the three count and secured them the TNA Tag Team Championship's.

Personally I wasn't all that interested by the pairing to begin with and saw this as a simple filler match for Magnus and Joe to easily retain the belts, but alas I was incorrect and they created a pretty solid pairing. Their post-match promo was gold, never seen so much personality from Daniels in his career as I have in the past few weeks. I'm hoping this is just a title change to continue the feud for the belts, Magnus and Joe solely aren't of any interest to anybody it seems, together they're relevant and what's better is they come across very strong.

What are your thoughts on the title change?

While I haven't watched the match it seems like a decent idea.

Magnus and Joe have held the belts for a while and this mixes it up a bit. Whether they did it to split Magnus and Joe remains to be seen.

It gives the other (two?) tag teams to have a go because Kaz and Daniels seem like less of a threat than Joe and Magnus.

It also helps with the AJ fued somewhat by having them win gold and he hasn't, making it seem as if he's only won because of his involement with Dixie.

Not really digging it to be honest. I thought the pairing of Joe and Magnus was brilliant, and even better once they got the straps. I can see them getting a rematch as this week on Impact, yet I can also see both of them vying for either the TV or HW title. The only thing I can say about Kaz and Daniels getting the belts is the potential for future feuds with the Machine Guns. Maybe even pair up Bully Ray and Gunner to take the straps at some point (likely won't happen though).

I both love and hate this move for a few reasons:

1. Love because it solidified Daniels/Kaz as a viable tag-team for me. I too saw them as a bit of a filler pairing, despite the history the two men share with one another from Fortune (Fourtune?) and dating even further back to the X Division heyday's.

2. Love because it gives me more and more air time for Christopher Daniels — a guy I've always felt was unjustifiably maligned and mistreated by TNA and it's fans, and quite easily the most underrated performer in the company's history.

3. Love because it adds depth to a fledgling division that desperately needs warm bodies.

4. Love because it'll shut up all the "wahhhh WWE rejects" assholes who infest this place with their ignorant, misinformed regurgitated philosophies and outlooks on the TNA product, as all four men involved in this are "TNA originals", and guys a lot of internet fans have been demanding to see more of.

5. Hate because it's continuing to push this trend of WWE'ing the tag division into mash-ups of random, underutilized singles performers who creative/TNA have run out of options with.

So much more love than hate, really.

Kaz & Daniels as tag team champs is something that really needed to happen. If Joe & Magnus were to defeat them, than there would be no one for Joe & Magnus to take on as they already defeated MCMG. Besides, Joe & Magnus weren't clicking for me. At least Kaz & Daniels would have some good chemistry with each other and hopefully they'll be awesome champions.

I'm Absoultey fine with this decision I thought that Kaz & Daniels made an excellent team before and now by winning the titles it solidifies them as a legimate team and Daniels has been fantastic for months now and he has really shined, the match I thought was really good and JoeNus looked good defeat, I also think Daniels & Kaz can set up some interesting feuds and matches they can continue to feud with JoeNus they can start a feud with MCMG or what I think is most likely going to happen given last nights results is a feud with a team of AJ and Angle which could be very good giving the talent of all Four men, So all and all I really like this move.

i thought this title change came a little too soon i thought for sure joe and magnus would pick up the victory here then drop the belts at slammiversery but i hope the rematch comes at slammiversery instead of on open fight night let a different title get defended there. i like daniels and kaz as a team though it gives two pretty talented mid carders something to do i just hope this doesnt lead to them facing angle and styles for the titles

It doesn't really bother me but I have to say that it doesn't really interest me either. All in all, the entire situation is something of a mixed bag.

On one hand, it was nice to see Joe & Magnus actually have something going on for a change. Both guys have been floating around TNA for a long time, Joe especially, without any real direction. At the same time, I kept getting a sense that the tag titles and the team of Joe & Magnus weren't a priority, given how little time they got on tv and how little build & hype their match at Sacrifice got.

As for Daniels & Kazarian, as I said, it doesn't really bother me that they won the titles. While it was good for Joe & Magnus to have something to do, I can't say that I was ever overly thrilled by the team. As IDR pointed out, it looks like TNA's strategy for the tag scene is basically WWE'ing it by randomly pairing guys together. That's not necessarily a bad thing if the teams work well and they're given enough attention, but that's not been the case here. Putting the titles on Daniels & Kazarian might seem like a waste of time right now in my eyes because of their current feud with AJ Styles. With Styles' "secret" revealed last Thursday, this continues to be the storyline that won't go away and I believe it'll be where Daniels' & Kaz's primary attention is going to lie rather than being used to rebuild & reestablish TNA's tag team picture. I expect Dixie Carter on television sometime in the coming weeks, which will only put even more attention & focus here. If it potentially leads to something bigger for Daniels & Kazarian a little bit later, then a meaningless title run might not be bad for them. Still, it won't help the tag titles or the tag team picture.

Or considering the ending to the AJ/Angle match at Sacrifice, maybe... just maybe, they'll put AJ/Angle together as a team to get into the mix for the tag titles?

I know they tagged here and there years back, but it'd be tremendous to add a team of that caliber to the mix as well. Would also give two somewhat floundering singles guys a greater purpose.

i agree making them tag champs would make them more revelvant.....plus we know from the direction their booking its going to be kaz/daniels vs styles/angle at slammiversary...joe/magnus will get rematch on impact and lose. (may have magnus or joe turn on each other and start fued to have joe put magnus over more and build him up)

back to kaz/daniels aj/kurt...this could set up an aj heel turn....only pay off i see with this angle...or kaz/daniels lieing...but that woulnd make sense cause aj was shocked to see the pic in the first place. so will have to see where tna goes with this

Honestly I was liking the team of Joe and Magnus. I wish they would have held the titles a little longer before dropping them. If they were going to lose though I think Kaz and Daniels was the best option. They have been getting a lot of time, and can put the title in the spot light again. I like the idea of an AJ Angle team to feud with them.

The thought of the TNA tag division being led by Daniels/Kaz, Joe/Magnus, AJ/Angle and the MCMGs just brings a big smile to my face. What matches we will see in the coming months!!! This almost looks like the Smackdown 6 ... very exciting times ahead I think. We are going to see some awesome matches come out of these pairings.

Kaz and Daniels were the best team for Joe and Magnus to drop the titles to. Not saying I'm particularly happy with that since I was actually enjoying Joe and Magnus as champs and I was hoping to see them hold the titles for awhile longer. However, if this leads to Styles and Angle joining the tag team division then that will definitely take away from my disappointment. Not to jump the gun or anything but I do think TNA's tag team division just might see brighter days in the foreseeable future.

i like this for many reasons. some will likely say this team was thrown together, but really they werent. they were in Fortune together, they have been friends for a while and these two have been feuding with Styles for a while and of course they both have in ring talent. this team should have good matches with the Guns and Joe and Magnus and likely the team of Styles and Angle will face them which should be a good match.

With Slamiversary coming up, I don't mind Kaz/Daniels being champions. It looks like they are building Aj Styles and Kurt Angle to be the match for the titles. Think about it, if Joe and Magnus retained the titles, who were they going to face at the event? They ran through Crimson/Morgan. Beat MCMG. At least this way the tag team title match has a story attached to it. I'm sure Magnus and Joe will get the titles back at some point, unless the face team of AJ and Angle win. AJ kinda has to win at this point to be honest. Daniels and Kaz have done everything they can to make his life a living hell (grant it, he brought the Dixie thing on himself). Doesn't the good guy overcome the adversity? Eh. A cheater is the hero in all this? What has wrestling come too. lol
