Daniel Bryan Frustrated w/Short WM Match, Speaks on "Yes"

Martin Gabriel

Pre-Show Stalwart
During a recent interview conducted for GQ Magazine, former WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan had the following to say about his match at WrestleMania 28, and the subsequent "yes" chants:

I was World Heavyweight Champion for four months. I wanted to go out there and steal the show. I was trained by Shawn Michaels, and that's what he's notorious for. I've always had the mindset that my wrestling is as good as or better than anybody out there. I was really looking forward to going out there and showing everybody what I can do on the biggest stage of them all, and then I just wasn't able to do it. There wasn't much of a conversation. This is my job, you know? You have to do something, and even if you don't like it, that's what you do. But you go out there and do the best that you can. I went out and did the best entrance I could possibly do. You just do your best; that's all anybody can do.

I would like to have a more aggressive side to my character. Losing the World Heavyweight Championship in 18 seconds, storyline or not, is going to anger somebody. If you've been champion for four months and you lose it in 18 seconds on what's kind of a cheap shot, you're going to be a little bit angry. I'd like to amp up the more aggressive side of my character in that sense. But as far as what happens from here, who knows? I'm hoping that the fans keep getting behind me. Even if they do the "Yes!" chant in a mocking sense, I want them to see me in the same light that they've seen me before, as one of the main event guys on Smackdown.

This man is simply awesome.

Regardless, he could have shown WWE why he's there, why he should be taken seriously as a wrestler and show what he can do that got him so many indy fans around the world that dubbed him Best in the World. There was no reason for him to lose it that fast for the fact that even if he beat Big Show and Mark Henry by luck, he did legit keep his title in the Elimination Chamber. The only thing that I could think of, storyline wise, was for Sheamus to say that karma finally got him for what he did to Big Show in making him lose seconds after he won the WH Title. But nope. It happened "just cause'". Marks were at WM like they always are and it was a dumb move for WWE to do that. Marks were at the following Raw and he was over, without even coming out til' after the show went off air. But the Yes chants still happened on this past SD. So he does have a following. People are actually treating Sheamus like a tamer Cena with just as much boos as there are cheers. He does need to be more aggressive so that he can really be taken serious by the fans that don't like him and at least accept him. But I don't think WWE even knows what the hell they're trying to accomplish now with anyone.

It's CM Punk's patented brand of kayfabe. You know, the one he used to convince people that he didn't sign a new contract until eight days after Money in the Bank. Bryan's learned well.

Punk never said that someone told him what the finish of a match was going to be.
