Danica Patrick Wants Big Bucks For NASCAR Ride

According to several media outlets, Danica Patrick wants a ride in NASCAR next year, but is requesting huge money to do so. A few months ago, the idea was brought up to her, and she said that she would like to start in truck racing, and then slowly work into a full time ride on the Sprint Cup circuit.

Apparently, money has changed that. I'm not sure it's a good move. The NASCAR season is much longer, and more grueling than the Indy series, and it's much harder to have success. Instead of racing in a pack of 14 cars doing 220, she'll be racing 42 other cars, all doing 150-160 (on average).

Of course, she would be the first full-time female driver, and would attract a ton of fans, as well as a lot of attention, so it's not like she has no right to demand big money. It's in her ebst interest to.

While it's smart for her, I don't think it's smart for NASCAR to take a chance like that, and offer her money in what could end up being nothing more than a publicity stunt if she doesn't succeed.

Aside from being a female driver, what has she done on the track? Nothing. So why risk paying big money so you can say she is the first female NASCAR driver? I honestly believe the novelty has worn off. It was a huge thing to start with but began to wear, more so as she wasn't winning a lot. Maybe it would kick start again if she jumped to NASCAR, but I don't think its a risk worth taking, especially with the economy hitting NASCAR hard. If it didn't work that would be a huge blow.

I dont think it is smart for nascar to give her the big buck just yet. She has to prove to everyone that she deserves the big bucks. The transition from Indys to Nascar is not an easy one. I dont think she knows that.

I think shes playing the woman card too much. Sure, she would bring in a lot more revenue and fans for nascar, but if she doesnt live up to potenial, Danica and Nascar will get a lot of scrunity for this move. Nascar should be about the best racers in the world competing and giving it their all for what they love. It shouldn't be about publicity.

As far as I am concerned, she is just a medicore driver with what, one win in Indy car racing.

If she is going to come next year, the best thing for her and nascar is for her to go through the ranks. Truck racing, nationwide, then finally the sprint cup. If she makes it big, then she'll get the BIG BUCKS.

All it would be is Patrick trying to cash on her name. Pretty lame. She would draw a lot of money to the sport, because afterall, she does have boobs. But I heard something like a million a race for 8 races. That is ridicolous. I think she might struggle to begin with with the bigger cars, with more of them on the track, as all people do coming up from the indys. So wasting that much money on her when she wouldn't be used to it until at least the 4th race is a waste.

It's really a good move for both parties, even if it isn't exactly the best for the fans. Danica isn't winning in Indy and likely won't win in NASCAR, but why not get a lot more money/exposure by jumping to the big leagues? Makes sense to me.

As for NASCAR, I'm sure they could give two shits if Danica "deserves to be there." She would be in a ton of money and publicity that the sport desparately needs. If she is actually good and makes a chase for the cup, that'd be a huge bonus.

1 mil a race doesn't sound so bad, WHEN YOU CONSIDER all the money and media attention she would bring. T-shirt sales alone would probably cover the 8 mil, then add in exposure on shows like good morning america, the view, oprah, etc and increased sponsor interest from co's that have no interest in racing would be a boom.

She could be sponsored by MaxiPads, Planned Parenthood or Breast implant co's. The possibilities are endless and could be funny.

Personally I think Danica would do better in a porn studio then she does on the race track. And Nascar? Well she will be creamed! She is hot but lol she does not deserve any more then already proven Nascar Drivers like Johnson and all. The woman gets on my damn nerves at times...

She doesn't deserve that big money. While she will bring new fans to the sport, make them money, and become instantaneously popular.. She might not be able to hang with the veterans and start to bitch. There's been very few Indy drivers who made the successful transfer to NASCAR. It's a huge difference, maybe get her to settle on a short period of time for a little bit of money.. like a test run if you will.. if she pans out, hand her some cash.

I am all for Women in the Workplace, but she shouldn't make a premium off of being the First Woman. We already had a woman as President (Hillary Clinton... Sorry Bill.) She didn't get special treatment, nor should Danica.

JR Motorsports / Team Earnhardt would make a killing off of the limited action they would see as a team together with the GoDaddy connections and so forth. Montery-wise, great move. Overall, a bit of a bull in a China shop. I'll wait for egos to collide before race day and Danica shoots for a win over her 'boss.'
