Day 1 of the inaugral WrestleZone International Cup begins with tag team matches that pit Team U.S.A against Team R.O.W in randomly assigned matches. Who will gain the early advantage in the Cup and who will let their team down? Let the debate begin!

Boards are open for 1 day for discussion and then polling will begin in 24 hours. Polling lasts for 48 hours afterwards. The winning team gets the point. In the event of a draw, teams will half a point each.

But match, this. The kind of match that will decide this tournament over the course of time. None of these guys were near the top of their respective seeding lists but they are all supremely talented and it really go either way.

I think, if I am being honest with myself, I have to give it to Angle and Sting. When it comes to a straight shot between Eddie and Kurt, Pro Fight DB says that Kurt is only just ahead 5-4. And realistically, in his prime, Sting would beat Nakamura. Don't get me wrong, I think that Nakamura and Eddie would make a slightly better team. But I can't look past Kurt and Sting for this match. They're just too strong.

Eddie Guerrero was good. Like, really good. Like, I've got a spare twenty minutes, why don't I just throw on a random Eddie Guerrero match good. But he was world champion for a short time during a historic lull for WWE.

And Shinsuke Nakamura might yet come good, but as of right now, he's a cheque that hasn't cleared. Right now, his place in wrestling history is as a highly decorated Japanese wrestler who came to America to demonstrate he was slightly better than Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin. He's at a bad point in his career to be in this match.

Against Kurt Angle, a man every bit as Eddie Guerrero, but who was a multiple time world champion while Steve Austin and The Rock were still genuine contenders, and Sting, the man who carried WCW on his back, it's an easy choice.

I came in fully supporting Angle and Sting. I believed the bravado between Nakamura and Eddie would be detrimental to their fight and cost them. But then I looked up something interesting about Kurt teaming with Sting. He had before. And were Tag Team Champions no less.

But Kurt Angle betrayed Sting midmatch, costing them the titles to Pacman Jones....

Would Sting try and seek retribution? Would Kurt cost him again? It is hard to tell. With the pride of America on the line I'd like to think they would work together but previous history makes me think that might not be the case. If Kurt is willing to give up the titles to Ron Killings and fkn Pacman, why should I believe he'd play it straight against a team far superior than the ones he dropped the belts to?

I can't decide outright, but I'm considering Nakamura and Eddie due to them not having beef with one another.

    Interesting match up.

If I'm weighing the strength of both teams as individuals, then I'm leaning Angle and Sting. Both were bigger stars than Eddie, and both have had more international success than Nakamura. As for which team I think would work better as a cohesive unit, I'd say Eddie and Nak. Eddie probably has the most experience working in tag team of the four, and is a proven specialist, and Nak is quite accomplished tag wrestler as well. I think their styles of wrestling would blend well together. Angle and Sting were tag champs together before in TNA, but their reign was short lived. They lost to a novelty team with Pacman Jones of all people on it.

Angle and Sting have the superior star power, but I think Eddie and Nak would make the better team, so I'll vote for them.

How would Eddie and Nakamura be a better team than the guys who were tag champs together and in a stable together for a good while? Angle and Sting are the bigger stars and that combined with their experience as a team is enough for me to give them my vote. Vote for the Main Event Mafia.

Because Kurt betrayed Sting and dropped the titles to a celebrity.

That's a different situation than this. The Olympic gold medalist isn't gonna turn on his partner when defending the US and Sting being out for revenge sounds like a terrible excuse to vote Eddie and Nakamura.
