Could AJ be brining back the Women's Title?

I hope she does.

Cut a promo saying,

"After last night when I be the "Divas" of WWE, I showed that I am truly not in their league considering I am a woman. A woman deserves something a lot more classy than a butterfly title." *laughs Big E takes the title out of the bag and it's the Women's title.* This is the title that needs to be showcased, not some pretty glamorous bratz prop." *Big E takes the Divas title and starts to bend it in half*

Or something along those lines.

I think that would be awesome I've always liked the Women's title more than the Diva's title and it fits in with her story. Also just as an aside, I think the Women's title would look a lot better on AJ's waist than the Diva's title. The one problem is right now IMO only her and Natalya are worthy of the Women's championship.

It WOULD make a lot of sense. If she brought back the Women's title then she WOULD be divas champion "til she was old and gray" because no one else would be. Also, claiming she wasn't a "diva" like the others, that she was a real woman would give her perfect justification to bring it back. And it's entirely possible that WWE finally realized that that butterfly is ridiculous.

You guys are seriously deluding yourself if you think anyone gives a shit about AJ. The Diva's title should now be nothing more than a storyline prop for Total Divas. E! should make renewal of Total Divas contingent on putting Divas booking into receivership. E! network is run by a bunch of idiots, but they're MacArthur fellows compared to the imbeciles booking the Divas division right now.

Or it could of just been a photo shoot also.

Looking at the background, that seems to be the case.

Either way, I wouldn't put too much stock into this photo. So what if she actually brings back the Women's Championship? Do you really think that's going to lead to WWE giving women's matches twenty or thirty minutes?

And if you didn't catch last night's pay per view, it's not like AJ has that much to work with. She's just the better of a terrible bunch, and AJ being the savoir of the division is nothing more than a fantasy. WWE is just trying to promote that God awful reality show, which means they have to throw the entire cast of Total Divas into this feud.

Although, IF AJ brings the Women's title back, it would be cool if WWE mimicked an Alundra Blayze/Medusa moment of AJ throwing the Divas title in the trash in favor of a "real" women's wrestling championship. Since WWE seems to be hell bent on blurring the lines of kayfabe and shoot now a days.

No I don't think they give them longer time...but I'm just interested to see where they go when they have some talented girls on the main roster and 3 or 4 in NXT that should be showing up soon. I think the Women's Title and Diva's Title could be used as "props" as well (let's face it...EVERY title is a prop to get someone over)

It's just another "faction" for this seeming Gang War that they are building. You have several male stables and now you have the Diva's versus AJ - no doubt Mickie will be in shortly to join with AJ and Paige would fit with her anti-Diva gimmick... Seems to me this might be the first "old school" Survivor Series for a long time. Diva's aren't going anywhere as it's a successful trademark for the E but they have a hard time justifying their pushes over the more talented women... so it might be a passable feud.

i would love to see mickie james return with the women's championship.
and say im the womens champion. while aj's just a diva champion.
then they have a feud at wrestlemania aj vs mickie for the world diva championship. the womens championship was good. but please listen it wasnt the name. or the look that made the womens championship awesome. it was the people who holded that belt. and diva championship aint the problem.
the design has lasted to long so with this it would bring a new title. a fresh look

Hmmm.... This could actually work. She definitely looks like more of a champion with the Womens Championship than the Divas Championship. WWE could have her further show her frustration with the divas and show her dislike for them by throwing away the title Alundra Blayze style, then bringing back the Womens Championship stating it is for women who can WRESTLE not divas. It would be a good line to use against the divas on that stupid divas show if she is to continue feuding with them. "WWE Womens Champion AJ" also has more of a ring to it than "WWE Divas Champion AJ" does. It is what it is though. The Divas Championship is what the federation currently offers female wrestlers. I support bringing back the Womens Championship belt/design and if they do, AJ is the perfect candidate to bring it back.

Here is the problem though. Bringing back a classic design & name to a belt is not going to magically improve the division. AJ, Natalya, Kaitlyn, and to a lesser extent Layla can all work matches worthy of the title. The rest of the girls all suck. Mickie returning could be good for the division if she chooses to, but the division still has plenty of improving needed in order for the fans to be interested in it again. The WWE should focus more on trying to help the girls improve in the ring and on the mic rather than worrying about what belt design is on the champion. AJ needs to be champion regardless of what belt design is used, feuding with the top tier female wrestlers, while the others are given assistance in improving. THAT will help the division far more than bringing back the Womens Championship. I'll admit I wouldn't mind it coming back if it did though.

I've seen some cruel comments before but saying AJ Styles is a woman is just taking it too far. Yes, he's small and dainty. He hasn't done much with any men's title. He also has a somewhat feminine hair cut currently but calling him a woman is taking it too far.

Oh, this is WWE. That AJ. Sorry. I don't really care what belt she carries around. She's a decent performer and the women have their place on the show but I don't see how changing the title changes anything. Plus why change your title when you are trying to promote a show called Total "Divas"?

If I were WWE I would add AJ to Total Divas in backstage segments but I would blur out her face. Talk about how AJ won't agree to be on a reality show. See if I can get some of the Total Divas audience to Raw by making them want to find out who this AJ girl is. Not a huge story but something that can help connect the products.

The old belt is much nicer looking and less bulky so it would be easier for AJ to carry around. Maybe they are gonna have both, the old belt for the actual wrestlers and the sparkly brothel belt for Brie Bella and eventually Eva Marie to fight over.

Well, if you want to be technical about it, the belts WERE unified some time ago and that would make AJ the current Women's champion as well as the Diva's champion... Just a little thought for you.

But other than that, I think it was just going off of what Michael Cole mentioned at the ppv about the titles being unified at NOC some time ago. I wouldn't get too overjoyed about it.

Or you know, it could be her way of sticking up the bat symbol and calling for other women's champions who are also considered the "Anti Diva"...

It makes sense. She is against the idea of " divas" in wrestling and this Womens Championship looks far better. However, I don't think they will want to rebrand the title especially with a show called "total divas"

that picture was with her Womens title she had in the picture they used for the summer slam Then/Now thing, it still had the WWF logo on it and everything.

Trish Stratus said it best that retirement of the womens title ended an Era that she and Lita were a part of and moving forward the Divas title represents these women who are now vastly improving their own division in their way. AJ got over by being in the men's storylines and most of the other Divas have total Divas which is resulting in more time for the Divas on TV and now a feud between AJ and Natalya which I hope can be up there with the Taryn Terrell/Gail Kim feud that had a last Knockout standing and a ladder match in it.

I saw that picture, which I think was taken last Monday at Raw, and it had me wondering this too. Depending on where WWE wants to go with this thing, it's something that MIGHT work.

As of right now, when you look at AJ's character and her remarks during commentary & promos, it's almost as if there are two kinds of "Divas" in WWE at this point, or at least there MIGHT be two kinds at some point. You have the Divas who are part of the Total Divas show and AJ gives the idea that these Divas are more interested in being reality show stars than wrestlers. Then you have AJ, the wrestler who covets and continually puts over the importance of being Divas Champion as the ultimate sign of accomplishment in WWE.

IF, IF, IF WWE wanted to, they could easily take the storyline in a direction in which the term "Diva" is almost a slur. The slur in this case would be applied to women who are viewed as untalented women who get by on their looks in wrestling rather than their wrestling.......ummm....well.....I guess maybe it kind of already is a slur when you consider how accurately that applies to many of the women on the WWE roster? However, you get the point I'm trying to make.

While the term Diva is sometimes used to describe a glamorous, highly successful, talented & beautiful woman; it's also applied to describe women who are self-centered and pampered. So WWE could use this storyline to abandon the term as it pertains to the women on the roster, but I doubt it.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that WWE is ultimately going to go down the road of revealing that AJ is merely jealous because she isn't featured on the show. Cole, JBL & Jerry Lawler constantly try to insinuate her jealousy whenever she's done guest commentary despite the fact that she has vehemently and repeatedly denied it.

Wow, some people really do care about that. Personally, I couldn't care less. I don't see any difference whatsoever between the Diva's Title and the Women's Championship. Don't tell me the Women's Championship has x decades of tradition whereas the Diva's Title has only been around since the day before yesterday. It's the same damn thing. It's the title the girls fight over, no matter the design or the name. Yada yada they coexisted for a while. It's still the same damn thing.

Sure, the Women's belt looks like a normal respectable belt and not like that hideous Jeff Hardy custom TNA Barbie belt, but either way it's about a title I don't give a hoot about. More often than not I consider myself fortunate in that I watch the shows not live, but recorded and I gladly skip those damn diva matches, no matter how glitzy or "normal" that stupid belt looks they're having horrible matches over.
Just saying. In a morally bankrupt division does it matter how ugly the belt is?

From my perspective, a title changing appearance / name is not in so much importance to me. Seeing as a title represents a certain group of people (especially the Divas title), changing its appearance and/or name won't do much. It will still represent the same people (the Divas), still be carried by AJ and still the same Divas will be there to compete for it. Of course, this is not entirely true, seeing as many of you said, the current title looks like a toy for little girls (pink with butterflies) and also it is a tad big for AJ and this means that the old Women's championship would fit to her waist a lot better. That aside though, I can't see how changing the name and appearance of the belt would make such a difference, since the WWE doesn't give that much attention to it anyway. When the Rock changed the belt in February, it was something new and refreshing, but apart from that, it still remained the most prestigious title and the one that the main event Superstars compete for.
As far as a scenario is concerned, they would develop one using the play on the Diva-Woman words to distinct the "superior Women" like AJ to the "inferior Divas" like the Bellas, Eva Marie etc. But the important thing here is that there has to be a distinction made, otherwise this whole thing will just seem like an attempt to bring something new to the Divas division without any real impact.
It might bring some interest the first couple of weeks, but I can't see how it can keep its buzz afterwards, pretty much the same as the WWE belt. If they want to create a big moment for the Divas, make them compete for the title in an Extreme-rules type of match, maybe a Ladder match, Steel Cage, even 2 out of 3 or Iron(Wo)Man 30 minute match. As long as the Divas are there to show off their bodies and fill in programs, no one will take them seriously. The interest has only picked up the past months because of AJ and her ability to wrestle and most of all cut a promo. Make the interest go on and evolve by putting on a great show, as mentioned above.
