Could a Daniels/Gunner Feud Give the TV Title Some Credence?

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
At the start of iMPACT! when Daniels came down to aid AJ in getting his hands on Bully Ray, Immortal's Gunner—the current Television Champion—came out to attack him and the two battled to the back as AJ and Ray continued their work in the ring. Small event, but it could be a pre-cursor, no?

Considering how great of a worker Daniels is and how well he's capable of getting a great match (or at least a good one) out of lesser talented workers, presuming he does go after Gunner for the title, could we finally a decent program going for the ever-abscent Television title?

Y'know what would give the TV Title some credence? Getting rid of it.

But it all seriousness, I've been very impressed by Gunner recently and he deserves that title. I havn't been watching enough to find out what happened to Murphy, but Gunner's got enough talent to be carrying around a belt a little more prestigous than the Knockouts Tag Belts. That being said, having such a legendary TNA name like Christopher Daniels fight for the title is the best thing to do right now. It gives Gunner the huge push he deserves, it gives Daniels a great "Welcome Back" warm-up feud, and most importantly for the company, it gives people a reason to care about the TV title.

Dude I hope so. They need to do something interesting with that title and soon or they just need to hand it over to Orlando Jordan so he and EY can both carry non important titles. They can call them selves the Worthless Title Duo or something like that.

I can see Daniels helping restore it's credibility though especially if he won the title for a bit and then dropped it back to gunner.

I certainly believe that a Gunner and Daniels feud could be pretty good and help out the TV title a bit. Daniels is a Awesome in the ring and could have some good matches with Gunner, and I think that if given the chance Gunner will prove that he is a very capable in ring competitor and I know this because I've seen him in person and his work on the indy scene as Phil Shatter. I am all for a feud between Daniels and Gunner.

This is one of those "we're gonna have to wait and see" situations for me. The TV Title is worthless and, truth be told, it's always been worthless since the moment of its inception.

When AJ Styles held the title, we were all hoping that it was the beginning of something great and meaningful. After all, it was AJ Styles. Former 4 time World Champion in TNA, one of the guys that put the X Division & thereby TNA itself on the map, the heart & soul of TNA itself. But the title meant as little when Styles lost it as it did when he won it.

It really would be nice to see the TNA Television Championship come to mean something but I think that ship has sailed. I'd like to see a program with Daniels change my mind and help make Gunner even remotely interesting. I don't think it'll happen but if anyone can prove me wrong in this instance, I think Daniels has a chance.

This alll depends on how both of these guys are being booked and isn't Gunner suppose to defend the title weekly?? I thought that was the reason for television title. It would be great for them both to feud but knowing how TNA is when comes to booking feuds especially when it comes to Daniel and how he been booked in the past. Just like jack-hammer said we have to wait and see where this is going to go from here

Gunner looks good. good in the ring, good image.
personally I think it's unfortunate how Gunner got started in TNA being security and then teaming with Murphy.
I think Gunner needs a last name. just "Gunner" doesn't fit for me for someone who should be a champion.
be nice to give some use to the TV title.

Any feud has the potential to add credence to any Championship. It's all about booking in the end. The ball is in creative's court, all Gunner and Daniels need to do is sprinkle some emotion and sense into this thing [which Daniels can do, I haven't seen much from Gunner other than drooling on the TV Title], and have a good match in the end which will elevate Gunner even if he drops the belt to Daniels. Either way, whichever man goes over will be good. Personally, I want Gunner to win because he needs it more than Daniels, and Daniels could disappear into ROH land again.

As others have said, any feud can make a title important. It just depends on the booking.
Gunner is good in the ring, but he lacks a personality. One of my main issues with TNA is that they rarely create good new stars as of late. Robbie E? failure, Arnequia (is that how you spell it?) just randomly interfered in a match and has no back story, Rosita? I give TNA that she atleast has a back story being that she is Sarita's cousin, but again she lacks personality.
Hopefully this feud will help Gunner develop a character because he sure needs it.
As far as the TV title is concerned, it technically is a joke. The only credible holder was AJ Styles in my opinion. TNA never utilized the importance of the title, and not to mention it changed names 3 times. The title should be used for midcarders and upper-midcarders.

What I'd do is have Gunner come down to the ring alone next Impact & talk about how he's the only title holder in Immortal, yet he gets no respect. He wasn't on the team at Lockdown, he hardly wrestles, he's basically never even mentioned. Have him talk about how he'll take on anyone to prove that he's a worthy TV champion. Then have a face come down, maybe Daniels, maybe Samoa Joe, & have the face talk about how Gunner was handed the title by Bischoff & isn't a worthy champion. When challenged to a match, Gunner would back off, but maybe offer him a non-title match, which if won by the face would earn him a title shot. I think Gunner is better than he's given credit for, he just needs a chance to shine.

This is actually a really really good idea, I like the fact that Daniels could be working the mid-card again. He brings so much experence into this to me lack luster devision atm. I haven't seen the newest Episode yet, but I'm sure this will be something that excites me.

I said a few days ago that Ray should take both Gunner and Murphy under his wing, and run a small heel group. Ray is a mega heel atm that is a huge old hand. He might not be the "greatest" in the ring imo, but Gunner is handeling himself rather nicely in my eyes.

Have him hang with Ray for a few weeks and cut a few heel promos with him. Get the dude some mic time, and let him tell his story to us. That is the only way he can be a good champ in my eyes.

Gunner shouldn't have been champion from the start. Although if anyone's going to take the title from him. It'll be Daniels.

It's ideal. Daniels is a superb old hand and a great pick to lead a rookie through a great feud over a title. I just wish it wasn't Gunner who was on the other end of it. Him and Murphy are so green and generic that it's painful to me.

I hate that these two are being forced down our throats. They are horrible.

Daniels being involved in a feud for the Television Championship is a HUGE step in the right direction. However.... can anyone tell me why GUNNER is the current champion? How Gunner and Murphy ever got past their security guy roles is beyond me, they still suck. In order to get a decent program for the Television Championship they need to take the belt off of Gunner first because he's not worthy of being a champion when there's so many others on the roster far better than him who could benefit from holding the belt. This feud would, however, be far more entertaining then the recent title matches for the title. I just hope Daniels wins it if they do this feud due to how the TV title desperately needs to get some prestige back, for those who believe it had a little prestige to begin with.

I seem to be in the minority in thinking the tv title isn't completely worthless...(I mean it did give us a good feud between a.j. and doug williams). I do think a feud with daniels would definitely help push gunner as a legit title holder and add esteem to the title. Also for all the people who say gunner sucks and all that, i say give the guy a chance to show what he can do... i mean i dont think he's even had a singles match longer than 10 minutes so i don't think its fair to judge him yet.

Gunner is good in the ring, but he lacks a personality.

Uh? Dr Metalhead Did you see when he won the belt? He was acting like sabertooth in the X-men movie (at least in my eyes). Yeah he is good in the ring, i saw a match between him and Lodi (the sign guy in Raven's flock in WCW) and i was impressed.

"Sorry about your damn luck!!!"

Off the bat I'm going to say no. I enjoy Christopher Daniels in the ring and Phil Shatter (Gunner) is a guy who I've seen work plenty through my friend who works at "The Hardy Show" and he's pretty decent but no, it won't give the title credence.

A few months ago, AJ Styles held the belt and had a sweet feud with Doug Williams. If those two putting on amazing matches didn't make people care about the belt, I'm not sure anything will. We can hem and haw all we want about how Daniels in the midcard is solid, yada yada yada, but in order to bring credence to the thing, it has to be held by someone who is literally on every show (just like the TNA champ) and who brings real attention to it. Simply putting decent workers with it isn't going to work. Not only that, an entire division needs to be built around it so that there are constant challengers. At this point, it's a hope that we get ONE decent feud for it which may or may not have any personal heat. To build the belt up, there needs to be a lot of guys who want it and see it as a prize. Until then, it won't have credence. The belt was held by THE FACE on TNA and that didn't work. Somehow Daniels will change that by himself? I'm thinking no.

I'm very interested in this feud. The main reason is that Gunner seems very promising wrestler at TNA. At the moment, Gunner is like Crimson, I just want to see more of both and check what they can do in the ring, on the mike etc. So I think that Gunner vs Daniels feud will be good to watch. And if at the same time, the feud increase the value of TV belt that it will be even better.

Gunner does seem to have become quite intrusive lately. He got involved in the Kurt Angle/Jeff Jarrett match at Lockdown and he got involved on Impact twice during AJ's cage promo and during the Sting/Hardy match. And Daniels is no mystery to titles. He and Aj are the guys that put the X Division on the amp and on Daniels' case, he helped put the Tag Team titles in TNA on the map too. XXX? Aj wasn't able to do the full job of pushing the TV title due to the hip injury just as he would become a record 3 time TV Champ. Shame. That meant Doug's push would still be going. But if AJ couldn't do it, Daniels can pick up the slack.
