Confusion w/ the Divas

Pre-Show Stalwart
One week the Bella's are faces & the next heels - Paige comes back with a huge explosion & promises change but continues to lose night after night - these are just a few examples of the idiotic (and often incomplete) story lines thats plaguing the Divas right now....So my question is: What is the cause of all this confusion within the Divas division? Are they stalling trying to decide which NXT Diva to bring up?!

1. I don't think the Bella's were playing the faces on RAW. It seemed like just a heel vs heel tag match between them and Naomi/Tamina. Than again, I did find it odd that they were getting the majority of cheers and playing up to them so really, who the hell knows at this point.

2. Paige is losing because she can't stand up to the "Bella Empire" on her own (for storyline purposes). Her recruitment efforts have failed thus far so she will continue to lose until somebody decides to help her. The payoff is the debut of Charlotte or Sasha or whoever and Paige finally defeating Nikki for the title. I don't find this part idiotic or confusing in the slightest.

3. I don't think they're stalling. I think WWE Creative has run out of ideas so we're going to see filler until BG where hopefully a new Diva will emerge. There's not much else that can happen with this story at this point other than another Diva joining the Bellas in the build-up to the title match.

I'll be interested to see if Nikki Bella continues to put in as much effort when she loses the Divas title. If the focus isn't on her, she couldn't look any less interested. On the other hand, you have Brie, who should stay as far away from the inside of a wrestling ring as possible. She lets out more yells/screams during her match than she lands punches and kicks. I can imagine what her pre-match pep talk is like. "Now, Brie: Go out there and try your best. And most importantly, don't forget to climb the turnbuckle and scream "Brie Mode" so we can sell your shirts!"

Let me clarify with you about the Faces and Heels in the Diva's division. I've mentioned on one of my earlier post already that there are no obvious faces or heels in their division except Paige who's always a face despite her actions or not having ability to cooperate with any other Diva, because of her huge fan support. And recently Naomi's character was firmly established as a Heel. Other than these two, the rest are all tweeners.

WWE hasn't been given any importance to the Diva's division. So I don't think its a great idea to talk about the face/heel division in the divas division. But as the OP has quoted, WWE is in the serious try to bring up a NXT diva from WWE to ally with Paige. We can't conclude how good that idea will until it makes an impact on the Roster. Paige and Rusev were the top draw NXT alumni whereas Bo Dallas and the Ascension were a huge flop. So it clearly isn't the time to discuss about the potential outcome of the promotion of a NXT diva into the Main Roster.

Cheers!!

Paige is clearly being used to debut an NXT person at some stage. Probably Charlotte after she has lost to Dana Brooke. Despite the fact Paige hasn't really done anything wrong, they're going down the 'all the other divas hate her' road, so she'll 'bring an old friend' for back up against the Bellas at some point. When that happens, she will win the title, her friend will turn on her (or vice versa), Naomi will win it and the same cycle will continue.

Honestly, the divas division is an afterthought, and despite the opinions people hold about the Bellas, there is enough bona fide talent in that division to actually make something worthwhile, but as long as the wrestling audience are perceived by creative as being neanderthals, and as long a the wrestling audience act like neanderthals "TIME FOR A PISS BREAK, LOL, LOL, WOMEN, LOL" then they won't bother doing anything with them.

Surely we can not chalk this entirely up to evolution (or lack thereof) since the WWE has all but trained entire generations to view it as much by the way the women are booked and treated on the show, specifically the time they are given and the spot on the card they are in nearly 110% of the time.

At the NXT house show I went to, the women main evented, got 22 minutes, and the crowd ate it up.

Not 6 minutes including entrances as the match sandwhiched between semi-mains, in what is only thinly veiled as an obvious intermission period.

It's been an afterthought for some time now. The WWE has no one to blame but themselves really. The women who work for them are capable of putting on excellent matches, NXT is a great example for that, but for some reason once you hit the main roster all that goes out the window.

It's really six of one, half dozen of the other. If the girls on the main roster would put on the kind of matches that we see in NXT, then they wouldn't be considered a piss break. But as long as they are just a gloried ad for Total Diva's it's hard to take them all that seriously.

I do agree with you that the storyline for Paige right now is helping with the debut of an NXT girl. I'm hoping it's Sasha Banks, but it will probably be Charlotte. Bonus if we get both, but that's a bit unrealistic I suppose. In saying that though, I sincerely hope that whomever debuts won't become a shadow of themselves. If that's the case, they are better off staying in NXT.

My thoughts on the Divas Division

1. Please don't bring up an NXT Women's WRESTLER and put but them in this crappy divas division with failed models or bodybuilders and Paige & Natalya. Any women who takes the step from NXT Wrestler to WWE diva has regressed massively and is still yet to have a match better than what they had in NXT. Paige v Emma in NXT was each of their best matches and Summer Rae did her best work there as well. Women are better off in NXT

2. Total Divas is killing the divas division, WWE storylines are step up more for Total Divas content than WWE content, they also keep far more divas than they need. Because of Total Divas Cameron and Rosa still have jobs and Eva and Jojo were put in a big spot too early. WWE need to book the Divas with more consistency and to benefit the product of the show they are on and not a different show

3. The main roster Divas division either needs to be scraped or HHH should takeover control. I think that if Vince doesn't wanna to give the divas more than 5 minutes a week I think its time to scrap the division because it would be better to use the time elsewhere instead of using it on something WWE doesn't care about. On the other hand I think if Vince wants to find out if HHH would be a good successor why not let him take control of the main roster divas division, have him book the stories and matches and provide them with the time necessary to shine and also prove that he would be a capable successor.

Ugh, even if you ignore the terrible continuity, Alicia joining Bellas makes 0 sense. There's one belt eligible to WWE women, why would you make sure you will not hold it? There's no womens tag titles love. At least say The Bellas are paying her, and make that clear so the Bellas can get some heat for it, it's a terrible angle anyway but they're not even trying right now

I think it's in a transitional period now, but you see it evolving. It is confusing to see the Bellas switch back and forth. It felt like they were turning full face and then all of a sudden, they start using Twin Magic again.

I suppose the good thing with the division is you start seeing the divas switch from wrestlers more to valets, as you see with Rosa and it looks like Summer. I think within the year, you'll see a crop of women as managers/mouthpieces/eye candy and a separate crop as wrestlers competing for the title.

True, yet to remain optimistic, I keep thinking the division is just one successful program away from becoming relevant. Perhaps the "Paige leads a NXT invasion" will be the one. Surely, the company isn't looking to kick Paige to the side by having the other divas turn on her.....I think some big plans are about to revolve around her.

Okay, some NXT gals will come up, although I believe it would be self-defeating to grab the entire female roster of the minor league and leave NXT dry. Just two or three could get the job done.....and everyone who watches NXT could have their opinions as to who goes up. I look forward to what they can do with this.... as shown in the past with Nexus and other groups, a faction that comes in and takes down the veterans, upsetting the applecart, often has major impact. Time to see if the divas can make something big happen. Since women are inherently superior to men, I think there's a good chance for this.

By the way, when Paige gathered the gals for her locker room speech, I was surprised by how few of them there actually are, weren't you?

Nikki Bella might be the best diva in WWE, but they need more than that. NXT diva will get called up to team with Paige. It will likely be Sasha Banks or Charlotte. There's always confusion in the divas division because WWE doesn't care enough to make the stories make sense. Nikki Bella is still going to be divas champion when it's all set and done. She's all they have curently until they call up an NXT diva like Sasha.

I consider the divas worthless, but it doesn't look like they're going anywhere anytime soon.

'I don't know with Alicia Fox recently aligning herself with the Bella Twins it possibly could be both of them because it would still be 3 on 2 just to make it an even playing field. I mean except for Paige there are no other face divas. THere's Natalya sure, but she is out right now with Kidd's injury and all the other main roster divas are heel, so it is quite obvious an NXT diva or two will be called up soon.

As much as im excited for any of the nxt women to get called up(except carmella or dana yuck) im as equally afraid for them. i hope they actually let these women wrestle, because if they(wwe) wanted to, it could have a very solid womens division that doesnt just equate to "piss break" time
