Commercial Appeal?

Getting Noticed By Management
Where to begin? I understand why WWE is littered with commercials, ya gotta pay the bills. But why do they always have the commercials during the matches that I want to see? Instead of having a boring, uninteresting Diva match or a mockery of professional wrestling some unfunny bull like Hornswaggle vs The World, why not just show the commercials then? I'd rather see the commercials because maybe I'll be informed of a useful new product or an interesting new movie that's about to hit theatres. Your thoughts?

Because the company thinks that this is actually the least damaging place to put the commercials, with the least chance to actually lose viewers.

If they put the commercials on after a backstage segment or during a match nobody cares about, the viewer is much more likely to tune out for the remainder of the show. However, if they put it on during a good match that the viewers actually care about, they think you are more likely to sit through the commercial break and come back to watch the show.

I don't give them props for many things these days, but that is pretty good logic on their part ... even though it is common sensical.

No, I didn't mean after a boring match. I mean after a great match, instead of some bull that no one wants to see, why not show the commercial? Hell, you could do like they did in the Attitude Era and shorten the matches that aren't main event matches or something. My point is that there's so little good wrestling on tv, don't take it away when I get to see it.

I also hate it when CSI cuts to commercial right before they solve the case at the end. That's the part I want to see most!

Which is the point. In the same way WWE knows you want to see all of that big match on RAW. They've been promoting it the whole week and now the last hour of the show you've been watching. They capitalize on that by playing their highest revenue-producing commercials during that match to make money for themselves and for the network. They've put in the work to get you hooked, and are confident you won't change the channel and start watching something else when they cut to those ads.

Playing commecials and breaking up matches also adds value to PPV. Pay your $40, and you won't have to watch any commercials.

Don't ever forget that WWE is a business, and all business share the same ultimate goal.

MAKE MONEY.
