Cole quits NXT!

What I think the WWE is doing, is further testing the waters with Cole as the eventual man behind the "Laptop GM" of Raw. As of late, Cole has been given a lot more free reign, involved in a face to face altercation with Daniel Bryan back in Season 1, and the man who is chosen to read the Emails during Raw.

This is just another step in gaining further heat for Cole in the eventual revealing of himself, as the General Manager of RAW and the "killer" of NXT.

I'm not sure what Michael Cole leaving means, but I don't think it's a way to reinvest in the NXT concept. The idea is dead. NXT season one wasn't all that great, but it held enough interest to develop into a main-show storyline successfully. NXT season two, meh. I never found myself caring enough to watch it. I have zero interest in season three, and all reports indicate I'm not missing much. I've seen train wrecks before. If these ladies were actually wrestling, maybe I could bring myself to care, but I suppose that wouldn't be good preparation for an organization which lets their ladies wrestle once a week for five minutes, often in a comedy match. (And often unintentional comedy.) I really do hate to say this, but WWECW was better than this.

So I wouldn't expect to see them pump up the brand by telling Joey Styles to hit the road, or anyone else who's better occupied at the moment.

NXT was a pretty decent idea; I thought it was kind of silly at first, and was somewhat right, but it worked out OK to begin with. Now, the idea has gotten stale. I'm wondering if the WWE is overextending themselves (yes, even the almighty W can do that) by having a C show.

Again it would be fine if Cole was a color commentator or something, but he's not he remains to be WWE's head play-by-play commentator, and in that role you should always maintain a face persona. Jim Ross for his entire time as a head commentator played the role of face, Vince McMahon and Gorilla Monsoon even. So why does Cole get to be the first play-by-play guinea pig when it should happen to begin with? Oh yea it's because he gets booed anyway.

But who else could fill the role?, most play-by-play guys that attempted to fill Ross's shoes ended up either quitting or being removed from the position.

Cole is the only choice to take the job but the fact is he can't, without this transition he cannot be seen as a play-by-play announcer by anyone , so if he's getting boo'd why not just have him in that role.

And as for Vince, he can't do commentary, that's the reason he bullies the rest for it, Foley even professed that even though Vince is a nice guy, he's a total ass on the headset.

The truth is Spood, Cole is not the logical choice, he's the only choice and I for one love to see his character develope the way it has been, it may not be the definition of play-by-play, but it works.

It's no so much that he replaced Jim Ross, it's the fact that not only did he take his place on television but he did it while not being that great of a commentator. No matter how much he screams, yells, or even heckles e always seems to portray himself as a man whose just going through the motions. There seems to be a lack of passion from the commentary of Michael Cole. It also doesn't help when he botches almost regularly behind the desk as well. These are some of the many reasons why most fans dislike the man as much as they do.

Most of the hatred stem's from the fact that he took JR's job, look at it this way, I for one hate to see JR get the shaft but there is no other option, it's not just looks, bells pausey can also hurt your speech, and JR has had the condition all his life, he keeps getting worse as the years keep progressing so Vince had no other choice but to replace his investment and move onto someone younger, it's sad, but true.

Which is odd considering thats the one thing a commentary team didn't use for contrast until now. King gets cheered no matter what, so it's logical he would remain a face but Cole the guy who use to have mega orgasms over all faces suddenly turns a bit towards the dark side? The only logical reason I can think of for this sudden occurrence is because the man gets booed constantly no matter what he does.

King could urinate over a Diva and still get face heat, he could take a dump on a cancer patient and will still get cheered, the fans love the guy, so the best idea is to turn Cole heel, he's getting boo'd more and more by the fans, so why not?.

Remember it's wrestling after all, it's not like Cole would have been a logical face anywho.

Again do you think it makes sense for WWE's play-by-play guy who calls and puts over the action we see in the ring to make a full heel turn and put more emphasis on his own character? Thats not really what they're supposed to be doing and it's probably the reasons it's never been done before now.

Why shouldn't they do it?, it shakes things up, it changes the whole dynamic, WWE is all about change, experimenting with characters in hopes that something will work, Cole's change is working, the guy is white hot at the moment, you could place him with a heel and automatically get the guy over and that's the great thing about his development.

Styles works for the website currently wouldn't that mean he would be under some kind of contract with WWE? I would welcome Styles to rejoin the both not only on NXT but RAW too. In fact his one and only run on RAW he was very underutilized in my humbled opinion. So in a dream world I would love to see Joey behind as main announcer's desk once again.

He has two contracts like most WWE employee's, he has a talent contract (which was not renewed), and a contract for his internet media role, now that his talent contract has expired Vince would need to get him signed prior to appearing on tv again, It just doesn't seem logical at this point.

Cole coming back to the show will happen. Mark my words on that, he will be back disrupting the program as early as next week's broadcast of NXT. So unfortunately the show won't be completely rid of him

The show is one big experiment, having Cole disrupt the show is a way to test his heel status, see if it works, and if it doesn't they can always add a greenhorn to the commentary team, someone like Byran Saxton for instance.

With watching NXT on YT on Wednesday & Michael Cole played an old school heel type thing when they moan about everything & everyone.

So blah blah, i'll get straight to the point.
I'm just wondering who they will replace Michael Cole with.

My opinion of the perfect fit would be Abraham Washington.

I watch/listen to him & i find him hilarious.
Espically when Naomi comes out & she does that whole 'ghetto hayyy thing' & he copies it to.

Just my opinion. But who do you think will fit the role?

I think you're absolutely right. WWE has been trying to find a role for Abraham Washington on WWE TV since ECW folded, and unless he's the Raw GM, this would be a perfect oppertunity for Abe to make a name for himself again. I've personally wanted to see Abe on Raw for the past 5 or so months, so I would love Abe and Josh on NXT.

I for one am not bothered by Michael Cole's departure from NXT as he has become a ranting and raving lunatic that is getting more annoying by the week.

Although I am suprised to see so many people want Joey Styles to do commentary for NXT. What is the big attraction of Styles? because he shouts 'OH MY GOD' a lot because that is all I have ever heard from his commentary and besides Cole has his own catchprase to with either 'Vintage ............' or 'And I quote'. I feel that Cole is better than Styles and that doesn't say a lot because I dislike Cole.

Saxton or Washington to replace Cole on NXT. Hope it ain't Grisham, have enough of him on Smackdown!

They will probably replace him with a female announcer. But Cole quitting NXT declines the quality of the show. Heel Cole is actually entertaining and his back-and-forth with Josh Matthews every week is a reason to tune in. Having Cole quit was a poor move but I don't give a fuck about who wins this season or even what happens because the divas division is total shit.

Sigh. Cole was actually the only reason I still watched NXT. It can hardly be considered a pro wrestling show this season, so without heel Cole to provide comedy, I have already switched to Superstars for my 3rd weekly dose of WWE.

I havent watched this new season at all. Even when I wanted to, I completely forgot about it. After reading some of the reviews, I dont see myself watching this season. One of the things I loved about NXT is the team of Cole and Mathews, they had the best chemistry of any of the WWE announce teams. Now I hear that Cole has quit NXT and I know that there is no way I will be watching this season.

As for who will replace him, a female announcer makes the most sense to me. Especially if Cole comes back after the Diva's season is done (please?). Maybe one of the 4 or 5 ring announcers that randomly pop up. There is also a small chance they could have Vickie pull double duty. Either way, I hope Cole's "quitting" is only for this season and if there is another season, he is back with Mathews when it starts.

Hopefully the only thing I can foresee with Cole quitting NXT, is maybe a few different options, here there are: to push Vickie as a commentator, because I really do not see any point in her being a PRO for Kaitlyn. Then, if that happens, to have either Dolph Ziggler become her Pro and continue this little jealously streak happen. Otherwise, if Cole is quitting, then maybe somehow work Beth Phoenix back in to get back at Vickie, maybe as Beth being an announcer, since it may be refreshing to have a woman at the announce table, considering Lita did it before when she was recovering from her neck injury.

i dont believe he really quit i think like people have said that it is just a way of him getting heel heat, i think he will show up and say "i quit, but the (insert authority figures name here) made me show up so im pissed" type thing, but on another note coles heel announcing is funny because people hate him just because of who he is lol but on topic if he does quit joey styles would be amazing i love his commentating, i alos wouldnt mind the final ECW announcer yron saxton and justin roberts

I think that I read somewehere that Abe was the one they were going to put on the job and I think that it is a good idea because NXT is all about making new superstars so he'd be the Next commentator rookie

I applaude Michael Cole for quitting and he actually grew on me a little bit by doing that. I've always had it out for em seeing that he's "JR's replacement" on RAW. Over the last 2 weeks he's really stepped it up with his heel commentator role and it's worked.

Now that Cole is gone...BRING BACK JOEY STYLES! That guy is too iconic to not be commentating. Granted, after announcing ECW where it was truly extreme....it'll be a hard gig for styles, but i think his slight wackiness could help balance with Josh Matthews, who NEEDS to go to Smackdown and GET RID OF MATT STRYKER! Cole was right...Stryker sucks!!!!!

I checked out NXT this week only because I heard Cole quit and I won't be watching it again this season. The only other possibly redeeming quality about the show was the Vickie Guerrero jealousy angle and that's only because it could make for some funny segments on Smackdown...

Nobody liked Abraham Washington, he was a guy trying so hard to be a face character that he ended up drawing heel heat. So he just became heel? I've had enough of him.

I'd rather have Joey Styles or even Mike Adamle than Abraham Washington. What ever happened to the other announcer from ECW? The black guy? He'd be a good one too.

So good that you can't remember his name...

Abraham Washington was given a horrible character, but in the end, he's also one that got people to know him. To me... he's another Matt Striker. He started off horrible and had that crappy "im your teacher" gimmick, then he got into the commentator roll and he grew on not only myself and a lot of others.

I think if you just give him a chance as an announcer, he could be better than before.... Besides it's either this or having him as GM of Raw, and I'm choosing commentating the third show.
