CM Punk Face Turn?

mrbrownstone

Fucking Hostile
First of all I want to say that I really hope this is just an over-analysation on my part, Punk is a great heel andd he shouldn't turn, at least not in the foreseeable future.

There are some signs though. On commentary this week he seemed to be somewhat out of character, he was very nice in regards to Daniel Bryan, he was telling jokes and being funny and he seemed to be a very happy and likable person. Perhaps he was just being himself but this dosent seem like something Vince would allow, especially given the fact that he would be yelling in his ear the whole time. Even post match he just stood there and clapped Daniel Bryan, he didn't try to attack him, he had nothing bad to say about him he just clapped.

Raw is also unbalanced when it comes to ME level heels/faces with Miz, Sheamus, Punk and Nexus on the heel side and only Cena and Orton as faces so turning Punk would be a logical move, especially with HHH still to comeback.

So what do you think, did you pick on Punks odd commentary as well or am I just overreacting?

I don't think Punk is turning face. Punk may have eventually feud with Bryan, but said those things out of respect for Bryan's wrestling ability, since they had their indy days together. Though you can't forget that while he was with Nexus, they did attack CM Punk during one of his matches (the famous tie incident). I actually hope they do wrestle each other, because it has the potential to be a very good match.

What I found particulary odd was that Michael Cole, who has been anti-Danielson since NXT Season 1, was suddenly on his side after CM Punk told Cole that Danielson is a great wrestler.

If you have been watching wrestling for more than say... a week... you would realise this is the obvious build to a feud between Bryan and Punk.

Punk will watch Bryan, give him his props.. maybe even help him out.. then in approx 2 or 3 RAW's is going to beat the hell outta him.

Bryan v Punk - US title at SS.

Obvious.

I agree with onecrazykid, though I can see a number of things happening here.

A. CM Punk is wanting to reform the Straight Edge Society, and looking to recruit Daniel Bryan, causing Daniel Bryan to either turn heel and join or feud with CM Punk.

B. CM Punk is scouting for a new faction, of Indy Wrestlers, like Daniel Bryan and Kaval and we all know Tyler Black is on the way (I like this one).

C. This being most likely I think, CM Punk wants the US title.

I think no matter what happen's we're eventually going to see these two face off in the ring sooner or later, and in the words of good old J.R. it'll be one hell of a slobber knocker.

I remember CM Punk saying he was scouting and everyone assumed he was scouting the other heel Dolph Ziggler but I really think that CM Punk wants Danielson to join Straight Edge and I think it could work DB seems like a person that does not drink, smoke etc. and I think he could make a good heel or if Punk does turn face then a face version of SES featuring DB

Well...I Liked the fact of Punk blasted HBK, and said that HBK stole $3,000 from Bryan, and that Regal is his true teacher.

I find that interesting as well. Also I think Punk did it, out of respect, for good wrestling. I take you back to NXT season1 when Bryan said he was better than Miz and Regal's and Punk's reactions were priceless.

CM Punk looks like one of those respected wrestlers that could be face or heel I really don't think I'd mind just him a push for crying out loud... why The Miz? =[

i just want to see a feud between Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, i mean, cmon, they are quite talented within the ring, CM punk does great promos and DB does fine on the stick; the match could have the makings of greatness, and yeah, it could be better than the jericho vs mysterio feud for the intercontinental title...in fact, that's almost guaranteed, cause there won't be any "______ vs mask" crap. -_-

I don't see a Punk face turn anywhere in the near future, the reason Cole changed his mind and started being for Danielson after Punk said something was because Cole is sucking up to Punk much like he does for the Miz. If anyone saw the episode of NxT where Punk was commentating and Cole came out to "reclaim" his spot, him and Punk had good chemistry on the mic but it was clearly obvious that Cole was sucking up to Punk.

Back on topic though, I do see this leading to Punk going after the US Title from Danielson, and not trying to reform the SES on Raw.

I think he's going to be on Bryan's side for a few weeks, praising him, helping him, applauding him etc and then he attacks him. Then he reveals that he attacked him because he wants the US Title, then they feud over the title with a match at SS.

Atleast that's what I want to happen.

mrbrowstone, I completely agree with your observations. This is not the CM punk that we have been used to seeing on Smackdown.

Pretty much everyone else has said it. His behavior is either being done to form a rivalry or an alliance with Bryan. I find Punk very entertaining and strong as a heel. I really hope that he does not turn face. As a former WHC, he can be seen a major threat to the overloaded face roster on RAW, and the current WWE Champ Randy Orton.

I have a feeling the Punk will offer Bryan a spot in the revamped SES, but Bryan will refuse. Bryan will say that he agrees with Punk's ideals, but not his actions. Thus, Punk will give Bryan a beating and in the process set up a great series of matches.

Macskye, great ideas! Especially the Indy wrestler faction. You get some REP.

I wouldn't mind them at least teasing a face turn and having him join the fight against Nexus. I think it would be intriguing to see and he is a guy who could really get the fans behind him without changing his character too much, in the same way that Randy Orton has. Another badass "anti-hero" style face would be good and would break the monotony some more when it comes to faces. He already gets a lot of face heat so it wouldn't be the worst idea ever.

However I don't see it happening. I think he will remain a heel, which is hardly a bad thing. It was only a couple of weeks ago that he destroyed Evan Bourne, who is one of the most over faces on the brand and somebody who it is easy to feel sympathy for. I don't think they plan to turn him anytime soon.

I think that someone mentioned that Punk might be scouting Daniel Bryan as a potential member of a new incarnation of the SES and that's a thought that I had as well. It might be a case of merely overanalyzing some things, but I just remembered that Punk still uses the WWE still shows the SES symbol for Punk. Also, when you look at Bryan's lifestyle, it does seem to be compatible with Straight Edge.

However, I do think that Bryan would refuse such an offer if it came, thus leading to a feud between the two. Even though Punk put over both Bryan & Ziggler on commentary on Raw, there were still little signs that he's heel. They weren't overly obvious, but they were there. Punk blasted HBK a little when Cole mentioned that HBK initially trained Bryan and said that William Regal did most of the real work. And at the end of the match, Punk was applauding the effort but the applause just seemed to have this sarcasm behind it as it wasn't the applause an enthused fan might give.

CM Punk has been one of the best heels in wrestling since last summer and has been solid gold on the mic ever since. A big reason why Jeff Hardy is still seen as something of a superstar is because of his feud with CM Punk. Quite frankly, Hardy hasn't been involved in any program since Punk that even remotely compares with that one. It'd be a mistake to turn Punk face in my opinion. He's doing great with what he's doing now. He's not broken, so don't try to fix him.

First off, Punk will NOT turn face, this is just Punk putting Danielson over and i agree with him, Punk knew when he was a pro in NXT season one that he was good and even nodded his head when Danielson said everyone knows he's good. What i think will happen is Punk will challenge him and likely respect him, then beat on him. this would be a great match.

Yes. I was thinking something similar and glad someone else considered it too. I don't know if they'd just call it Straight Edge Society again or come up with a label for themselves such as 'the purists' because of both their similarities in the ring and in their personal lives.

I'm hoping that WWE can get some good mileage out of whatever angle they have planned for these two, because whether they are wrestling as a team or against each other there's no reason why we can't get some excellent matches out of these two and maybe see what Bryan can do on the microphone too.

If they're trying to push Daniel Bryan, having him join SES and be Punk's stooge is a terrible idea. I'm sure they're just going to feud. As others have said, he will watch him for awhile, possibly try to recruit him, and then when Daniel says no, he'll attack him. I don't even see Punk making a new SES on Raw. That storyline is over and done with.

I believe that yea this is a face turn, at Bragging rights he was popping jokes against miz and going off of Santino. On raw he came out in a cubs jersey ((again paying homage to his home town)) which alot of heels don't do like take swagger he said he is with Texas or w/e now. Also he didn't attack bryan and was just clapping for him...

thats my 2 cents if its worth anything

No I think it was a part of punk being punk, trying to establish a unique heel character, giving him a fresh start over on raw heelwise. WWE did say they were concened that there were few heels on raw becuase punk got injured, and if they were turning him face they wouldn't say this.

No I think this is a new dimension to the punk heel side. Notice how in his match with bourne he wasn't outwardly malicious in terms of how he felt about bourne, he was just saying, it's nothing personal. I think thats punk's new niche, I don't dislike you good guy, but I am going to injure you or win your belt if it's good for me. Could make punk a big heel on raw but it could also make him a tweener. If punk starts to sounds non-definitively heel, like slightly heel then WWE just have to be precautionary, could go the way there don't want it, they'd have to send someon else over in that case, and I don't know who on raw know could carry a heel gimmick atm, besides cena of course.
