Christy Hemme as Ringside Announcer?

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
To be honest, I was never all that thrilled with female ringside announcers in general, and So Cal Val was always awful IMO, but Hemme has spunk and seems to have a lot more presence and charisma in that position than Val ever did.

I know this is a relatively minor upgrade (yes, it's an upgrade), and I'm sure most of you probably didn't notice the difference all that much, but I gotta say that Hemme deserves the credit here. I really hope she becomes a permanent staple there, because she's not just better vocally, she's easier on the eyes, too.

Thoughts on this?

I liked it.

She brought sort of a hot sexy... rockish edge to the ring announcing position.

Nothing like a sexy red head screaming out the names of your favorite TNA Wrasstlers as they enter the Impact Zone! Yipee!

It was very good. It was real refreshing to hear Christy Hemme in her role of ring announcing. That should be her permanent position while So Cal Val could be the backstage interviewer instead. JB should be left to do the big main events of the night like how he did his boxing introduction on tonight's show like how he does on PPV.

Yes it was a small change but a huge upgrade imo.

Yea I thought Christy did good job and she was much better then So Cal Val who was pretty bad. Christy had a good presence and charisma. It also doesn't hurt that she is Really Pretty who doesn't want to stare at a nice beautiful red head. I hope they keep her around as ring announcer because I think she did a good job tonight.

i noticed right away i was kinda wondering where JB was all night but i loved hemme as a ring announcer!!!!! she did GREAT and seemed exicted doing it i hope she stays there put socal val backstage to interview people

SoCalVal is also a beautiful redhead to stare at ... just saying...

I think it was more than just switching annoucings (if she stays) it was the fact that the camera showed her each time (atleast twice that I paid attention to.)

When its JB we only see him during the main event stuff...other wise we rarely see him just hear him. It seems like TNA really wanted to show you it was Christy talking and wanted you to see her each time. Sort of like injecting even more sex appeal into the show.

It would be interesting if they had her change clothes through out the night to different revealing clothes to keep some fans attention. But we will just have to see if they will cont. to do this with her or if JB will be back.

I was impressed with how noticeable the change was. Her voice came off really well and she is always nice to look at. It is relatively minor but I think this is the type of small improvement that takes away another area that TNA didn't appear to be quite up to par. The more of those small things TNA can improve upon the better.

I noticed it straight away and thought she did a fantastic job. I've never been real big on Christy Hemme either, but she almost seems like a natural fit in the role of ring announcer.

Hopefully this wasn't just a one-off thing and she'll get more TV time, matches, etc. I agree it's important to show her (or anyone for that matter) doing the announcing as it helps capture emotion in the product.

TNA in general has been on the upswing lately, particularly over the last two weeks I think. Hemme's first gig as ring announcer has contributed to that success in my book and hopefully she'll continue to grow in that role.

I noticed it right off the bat and thought wow, nice job TNA, she brings something new to the show, she blows So Cal Val away in looks and performance on the mic. Hopefully this is a permenant thing more Hemme on the screen is not a bad thing

It's funny how the little things can make a product more enjoyable. Hemme did a tremendous job as the ring announcer tonight. The tone of her voice matched the alignment of the wrestler (heel, face) and their attitude. She's gorgeous as always and added something more. Well done.

She did a great job with it last night! I was really impressed and ther tone and emotion came off really well. Like Zeven said, the way she introduced the Heels/Faces let you know who is the face/heel if you weren't a weekly fan.

I think it was cool to see her announce the wrestlers. I always like Christy Hemme (so damn hot) even when she was in WWE. SoCalVal isn't bad, she has a nice voice and she is hot as hell.

she made the entrances sound a lot more epic and is pretty easy on the eyes as well. she made everything sound better imo. (sorry borash lol)

i hope they have her continue having her in this role. it would kind of drag everything down a notch if they didn't have her continue as an announcer.

Well great. Now there's TWO hot women in ringside. In the words of the great Jerry lawler, PUPPIES!. Yeah. With Christy as the ringside announcer that leaves JB free for anything else. Question is, what? Should he return to backstage interviews? How about commentary? I really don't know what. Interviews aren't exactly the same as in 2009 when JB was in all sorts of goofy skits with Kurt Angle and Mick Foley. Though it would be nice to see that again now.

Well I must say, as a guy who is training to be an actor/voiceover artist and has done a fair amount of vocal training, that Christy Hemme surprised me.

Because she makes a bloody good ring announcer.

Now my grandfather used to be a boxing ring announcer, so ring announcing has always interested me. I've always liked JB's stlye and I hope he carries on in his role as well, because I like his old-school feel.

Christy was great. On the technical side, good clarity of voice, and a lot of resonance. Sounds like she made her voice slightly deeper to help it carry. Women should do that more often, it's hot as hell. Her voice carried clearly and she wasn't just "reeling off" like Chimel sounds like he's doing sometimes (with all due respect). She was also very impassioned - she was trying to help get each wrestler's nickname over, she was telling you a great deal about each guy just from the way she said his name. Not to mention she's extremely camera-genic, they had shots of her as she was doing the announcing (quite a rare occurence during actual entrances to focus on the announcer, but hey, she's a hot chick).

Gushing much, I know, but I thought she was phenomenal.

Are you people kidding? She's a terrible ring announcer. I've been a fan of hers for years; she's smoking hot and I could even like her singing ("Society Box" anyone?) but as an announcer she's awful. I could look at her at ringside all day long, but just take that microphone away from her. Her announcing just feels so rushed and yelled. I like pretty much everything else she does, but this is just one thing she doesn't do well.

It is a chicken and the egg scenario but I just noticed this week that the traditional backstage interview is being phased out of the show altogether and has been for a while now. Almost everything backstage is shot ReAction style now. They might have moved Hemme since they were not going to get much use out of her in the old role.

If shes yelling...its honestly because shes yelling over the crowd. Yeah, she has a mic in her face but shes not going to stand there with a blank stare or sad look with her shoulders slumped and wearing a full body jumpsuit...saying:

"blah...blah..heres...so and so...and that guy with the mask..."

NO! Ofcourse, shes gonna yell and scream and be excited because chances are she geniuely is.

And as for that ReAction style backstage interview seems like they were doing that before the show. Its more of a "TMZ" type thing where you have a "camera guy" following the "star" and asking random questions.

I like that style because it seems more personal and more possible. Where as before in any company its like okay Promo in the locker room or Promo in the hall? you choose. But this TNA way is more fluid...a wrestler arriving or leaving, a wrestler hiding in the corner, talking on the stairs, anywhere and everywhere that a wrestler can be a camera man can get there and it doesnt seem as forced as a guy with a mic "waiting" for his interview.

I think she was better than other female announcers I have heard.
I miss Dave penzer. That guy was really good.

To be honest, they need to hire that one guy I have seen around the south, in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, when I was managing on the indie circuit. I saw him at a show last year in Louisiana, and he has the best announcer voice I have heard since Buffer. I always used to be happy when I saw him because I knew he'd make my wrestlers and myself sound good before we hit the curtain.
