Steamboat had some pretty big wins, but often at the end of long series that he had lost for lots of the matches. Haystacks was the only British wrestler that made the leap. He didn't have the accolades of Steamboat in the US, but he was basically finished by the time he went over. Haystacks once wrestled to larger television audiences for most of his career, and I'm putting him over, but it's a marginal case.
