The problem that I have with that theory is that it goes completely against what is written in the Bible. Since I take the Bible to be true, the Word of God, then I don't believe that would happen.
For that...
you got it. god is mercifull, not vengefull.

Bottom line is, I don't have all the answers. None of us do. I believe what I believe. Can't really say more than that.
Seems pretty vengeful to me.
so tell me, why would god the almighty have such a narrow minded apparoach to which of his children he welcomes into heaven?? or maybe the guys who wrote the bible snuck the part of having to do things THEIR way in there for status/financial purposes???
Dude , Jesus DIED so we could be forgiven of our sins. You cant deny that. It's a pretty well known fact that the only way you go to Heaven is by having Jesus Christ as your savior. It would be nice if all good people got into Heaven but if they wasnt saved they got sent below.

only becuase of how people and their "religion" make him out to seem.
You are so narrow minded! Seriously! Its not a FACT Jesus died for our sins, he was prosecuted for what he believed in; yes, but to tack on the fact that he died for US is not a fact, it is a belief.
Seriously, this is why no one is taking you or your beliefs seriously.
The Impercipient by Thomas Hardy is my favorite poem regarding religion. It describes almost exactly the way I feel about god.The Impercipient by Thomas Hardy said:THAT from this bright believing band
An outcast I should be,
That faiths by which my comrades stand
Seem fantasies to me,
And mirage-mists their Shining Land,
Is a drear destiny.
Why thus my soul should be consigned
To infelicity,
Why always I must feel as blind
To sights my brethren see,
Why joys they've found I cannot find,
Abides a mystery.
Since heart of mine knows not that ease
Which they know; since it be
That He who breathes All's Well to these
Breathes no All's Well to me,
My lack might move their sympathies
And Christian charity!
I am like a gazer who should mark
An inland company
Standing upfingered, with, "Hark! hark!
The glorious distant sea!"
And feel, "Alas, 'tis but yon dark
And wind-swept pine to me!"
Yet I would bear my shortcomings
With meet tranquillity,
But for the charge that blessed things
I'd liefer have unbe.
O, doth a bird deprived of wings
Go earth-bound wilfully!
. . . .
Enough. As yet disquiet clings
About us. Rest shall we.
No religions have cold hard facts. There's numerous passages in the Bible that says he died for our sins. He knew he was going to die for us and that's why he did it. You should be thankful.
I'm not reading this whole thread, but I'll say this. CCS, I am a Christian and have no doubt about that, but saying things like that is why Christians have a bad name.
This may have been said already, but prove it.
That doesn't answer what I asked. We're celebrating Jesus not whatever the pagan traditions are. Take that up with the person who said Jesus was born December 25th.
That doesn't answer what I asked.
The two biggest celebrations of the Christian faith are both centered around Pagan traditions; Christmas and Easter. They represent the birth and resurrection of Christ, and yet both are traditions/celebrations which are little more than assimilations of various pagan festivities. So, why then, is the entire Christian faith based around that which it preaches against?
