Can a Bad Idea in 2007 Be A Good Idea in 2011?

Getting Noticed By Management
you know it, I know it, frankly put....who doesn't know it? TNAs roster is just too packed and a ton of talent goes unused. As in my other thread, I got this idea from watching BFG 07. Anybody remember fight for the right? It was sorta like a reverse battle royal to begin with then once there was 8 in the ring it turned into a battle roya til there were 2, then from there it was a straight up match. Wrestlers in tna have since then multiplied.....don't you think it'd be smart for tna to now have a match like this?

I'm not a big fan of the idea, but I do think that TNA needs some sort of unique gimmick match that includes all if not most of their roster. I know it would take some time and well planning but they could do it.

If TNA tweaked it in someway I could see it being decent. I just think it's a little too complicated for being a wrestling match

I don't remember anyone really praising that as a good idea when it happened. It would still look ridiculous though.

Just hope they don't just make something a "reverse" of another match.

A bad idea in 2007 could definitely be a good idea in 2011. If in 2007, you'd have said "The Miz as WWE champion", a lot of people would have said no, it isn't the right time. Now, it is.

However...the reverse battle royal in my opinion is a bad idea year-by-year haha. I just never thought it made any sense even on the page, let alone the execution. In 2007, in 2011, in 2015 it'll still seem like a bad idea to me unless they change things around, but if they change too much, then it just becomes a battle royal, which has always been a good idea lol

I've always thought tna should do something like the Rumble but instead of a over the top rope match how about a elimination match by pin or submission. 20/30 man elimination match would be awesome in my opinion! Just think at least half of the superstars in the Rumble are midcarders anyway and TNA have there fare few! Have the main eventers eliminate the midcarders then the main eventers go toe to toe eliminating each other! Hell go one step further and make it for the title! And it would be perfect for when you need to push a midcard guy! Have him eliminate a few main eventers or even win the damn thing!

I actually liked the idea of a battle royal type match where the final 2 would go 1 on 1... I thought it worked pretty damn good. I also was a fan of The King of the Mountain match. What the hell happened to that?? I love TNA, and will stick with it til the end of days. I wish they would go back to the things that made them unique. Ultimate X and those matches listed above. Belt changes hands on a DQ! Made every match matter a little more! Gave storylines another avenue to grow and develop. I do enjoy what TNA is doing now, and I am hoping that they get another show in the future. More time for everyone and everything! No idea is a bad idea in wrestling today, especially when you have the 800lb gorilla called the WWE putting on terrible matches and lame gimmicks that turned me off over 2 years ago. I give TNA credit, they are trying hard to achieve and I applaud them for it!

I don't care for TNA but they could take their Fight for the Right match and tweak it a bit... Do a battle royal style with the World Heavyweight champ included and title on the line, make it an elimination style with the final two ending the match traditionally with the winner becoming the new champ.

But, I don't expect anything too interesting or original with the current layout in TNA. I will say I once hoped for more but it really is a lost cause. Shame cause I think that Angle, Ken/Anderson, Morgan, Dinero, Hernandez, Storm, Roode, Magnus, and Wolfe deserve more. Hopefully there will be a home for them in WWE one day.

I actually used to love the battle royals TNA used to do where it was exactly like The Royal Rumble until it came doen to the last two guys, then it turned to a one on one match. Close enough to the Rumble but with a big enough difference. I wish it'd becom a yearly thing.

A reverse battle royal is a horrible idea no matter what year it is. TNA Creative must've thought this looked good on paper, at least in some strange alternate universe, but it's really something of an embarassment in my view.

It was a horrible idea for the WWE to put the World Heavyweight Championship on The Great Khali a few years back. They put a world title on a guy that's slow, awkward, clumsy, can't wrestle & can barely speak a word of English. That's going to be a bad idea in 2011, 2036, 3999 and on through eternity as will a reverse battle royal.

I usually tend to defend TNA, but the reverse battle was pretty stupid. If anything, I think they should bring back the King of the Mountain Match, although maybe simplify the rules getting rid of the penalty box and the qualifying stipulations just to make it more simple. Or bring back the Gauntlet for the Gold match, which was basically a Royal Rumble but the last 2 people would fight in a standard one on one match.

This is actually a neat idea but it could never be pulled off without at least doubling the referee staff. There's no way a small handfull of refs could oversee pins and submissions by that many people at the same time. And if you DID add that many more referees, then it would just be total chaos. It would never work. Nice idea though.

Yeah, The King of the Mountatin match, while a bit ridiculous still had a good concept in it. There needs to be something else to make the reverse ladder match better. Since we are on the subject matter of reverses, A reverse cage match would be funny. Start backstage and the first on over the top of the cage wins lmao. Put a ladder in the middle of the ring with the title suspended to make it more interesting. Serious note, the reverse battle royal wont put seats in butts anymore. TNA needs something else like their ultimate x match or start using the other matches from other promotions to big them mainstream. sheesh they have wikipedia to steal matches and moves from if their wrestling experience is like Michael Cole saying Punk's Koji Clutch was an Andacana Vise.

The reverse battle royal was one of the worst, unorganized, and mind-blowingly awful matches of all time. It is reviled as one of the worst matches ever and rightly so.

It didn't work then and it wouldn't work now, simply put. It was something that sounded good on paper probably but was so poorly executed that it will never recover. I don't even know if it can be pulled off in any way but shit.

I understand the idea to bring interest to a match like this though. WWE's Royal Rumble is probably the second biggest PPV in WWE after Wrestle Mania. People love the match, as do I. TNA was looking for something similar but gave it a twist that didn't pay off. It came off as "WWE does it this way but we're not WWE, so we'll reverse it to be different" as well (at least to me). I don't think TNA needs a big match like this either. An occasional Battle Royal is always fun but making it a big deal will come of as stealing from WWE and reversing it would make it seem like being different just for the sake of being different.

The "Fight For The Right" Reverse Battle Royal? God, no. Better suggestion. "Gauntlet For The Gold". 20 men in a Royal Rumble style match and in the end the last two have to go at it in a full fledged match to get the pin and the win. A much cleaner and much more understandable and much more fluid. With WWE's Royal Rumble going up to 40 men, maybe TNA should head in a grittier direction and have a 20-man "all must be pinned" Gauntlet match. For one, it wouldn't be as exact as the Royal Rumble and the possibility of many dream matches in one night sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

I love that idea. You get that Rumble vibe, but it's even tougher. Call it what it is - The Gauntlet, and you've got a high profile PPV ready to go, utilising the entire roster. Genius.

Someone get Dixie on the phone!
