Burying of Ryback continues

So on the last Monday Night RAW, we saw Curtis Axel V. Sheamus, and Sheamus beat Curtis Axel quite easily. But then we see Ryback attack Sheamus and we get a great match, I'd even say 4 star quality, and for a RAW that's great, but Sheamus beats Ryback, and like usual Ryback losses. Ryback keeps on proving and proving he is a great wrestler for a "big guy", yet WWE decides to keep him as jobber or low-mid card. Will he ever be relevant again, I honestly think he needs repackaged and let him tear lose on the WWE roster again, this guy deserves to be on the high mid-card, if not main-eventing pay-per-views or "special events". Do you think he has any chance of being a threat again, and if so should he be a face or a heel?

Unfortunately I think they blew it with Ryback. As a face when he started he was popular, had a good gimmick, and was over. Then they fed him to CM Punk that fast and it just killed him. Sure Punk never really beat him clean but it was just far to soon. I actually think he is a natural face and should be one, but what do I know?

Ryback should've got the fall on Sheamus setting up for a US title match. Sheamus already worked one match so he wouldn't have looked weak. They could've also had Axel interfere or cause a distraction. Sheamus and Ryback also had a good match a few months ago on Smackdown and seem to work well together and I would like to see them feud. I'm also a fan of Ryback and I still haven't given up on him. I'm hoping that they eventually turn him back face and bring back The "Feed Me More" chants and he gets another push.

The E screwed Ryback as soon as he wrestled cmpunk in Hell in a Cell 2012. Ryback was too green, and should never have had been placed in a wwe title match there. Hell, the only real feud before the fight was with Jinder Mahal (pre 3mb). Then the Shield came thundering in later on at Survivor Series. The final blow was the loss to Mark Henry at WM 29. Ryback should have won that match in a heartbeat if he was to save his career. But, nope. I thought they had something going with the bully gimmick, but that faded away.

Frankly, Ryback is a lost cause IMO, and that's a darn shame. He's a funny guy and could easily be upper Midcard.

Ryback can still make it back to the main event scene. First they need to split him from axel, maybe have the two feud for abit with ryback going over. When Batista leaves have ryback join evolution as there new monster still as heel! Before survivor series have ryback turn on the authority to help d Bryan or the shield turning him face! That would set up a match at survivor series and a feud with ryback going over! Ryback after winning one of his match either on raw or the chamber have Brock lesnar return. Brock can coming back saying he's the real beast and set up a beast bs beast wm 31 match! Even if ryback doesn't go over lesnar he is back in the main event scene without being in the title scene, thoughts?

Ryback is a real curios case because at one point, it was looking like he was really going to become a "big deal" and now he's floating around in the most irrelevant tag team on the roster IMO. I mean, what the hell happened to this guy? he's got the size, the charisma and the look to be a major star in the WWE. The guy is not bad on the mic and can go in the ring, his matches vs John Cena were actually good IMO. I enjoyed the Cena/Ryback feud back in 2013, it seems as though WWE truly screwed any chance this guy had of becoming a main event player in the WWE.

Ryback's biggest problem, allegedly, was that he didn't represent the company well. Numerous reports stated that he acted like a dick to fans at various meet and greets. Some stated that he would act completely disinterested in being there or would be rude to some of the fans. It was also reported that he hated doing interviews with local press in order to hype the company, an upcoming card, ppv, etc.

I'm not saying it's true but, if it is, then he shot himself in the foot. If you want to be a top level player in WWE, then you have to be willing to put in more effort and work than just about anybody else. If you don't like it necessarily, just keep it to yourself and do the best job you can. It's not all about getting in the ring to wrestle or talking in the microphone. All the proof anyone needs is John Cena. Cena was ambitious, no question about that. He knew that if he was gonna get where he wanted to go, he had to work extremely hard for it. Fortunately for him, he had the right looks, the connection with the fans, the ability to put on consistently good matches and the work ethic. If all the reports are true, then Ryback lacks the work ethic and, again if true, you can't have one of your top guys treating fans like shit and expect to remain on top.

Hes turning into the Warlord of the 90s, guy had the size, the look, wasn't the best in the ring, but did a ton of jobbing for a guy who was bigger than Hogan in size & muscle.

He's not being buried. Hes a low card guy, they tend to lose a lot.

Yeah, someone just started a thread about this. The over-use, and mis-use of the term "burying". It is ridiculous. Ryback is not being BURIED.

He's on tv every week, he's winning matches albeit as part of a tag team, and personally, I enjoy when he is on camera. The guy makes me laugh. The "old" Ryback, the one who wasn't being "buried", the one who was in main event matches was a forced "cyborg/machine" thing that was straight out of the 80's. Now he's acting like the goofy meathead douche that he really is and its good. Rybaxel has grown on me big time. BIG GUY OUT.

he has no charisma i could care less, he's a one trick poney, Goldberg clone the fact that he was even allowed to get into the main event he should and does count himself lucky

I don't know why but I've always felt Ryback would be a great All-American character. Basically the American Hero type. He needs to be a face again either way. He was over in a big way following his debut.

I think monday night on Raw proved that they don't believe in Ryback anymore. The most logical pro wrestling 101 booking would be Axel losing the first match, Ryback winning the second, thus setting up a decent looking match at Payback for the US title. Sheamus looked strong beating Axel and wouldn't look weak if he lost to the big guy in the second match in a row.

Ryback has a decent gimmick at the moment. The twitter crazy guy / the big guy works fine for him in my opinion, I find him decent on the mic and he is ok in the ring. He doesn't need a repackage. People will only accept a repackaged guy just for so many times, right? After all, what could you make Ryback into that you can't do right now? Make him a destructive "I beat jobbers" guy? Been there done that.

I'll admit I was never high on ryback, or his nexus character, whom I cannot remember the name of at the moment. I admit after his ryback repack he was way over with the fans and to my knowledge that the ryback character was his own idea and he had played this character in some indie form. "Feed me more" was annoying IMO but it wormed well for him. I never thought he was particularly great in the ring, maybe that's just my opinion and it probably is, but someone must feel like me somewhere right? He just doesn't appeal to me. I hope maybe they let him be a funny heel and maybe win a few? I guess I'm conflicted? I certainly don't think he's being buried though by any means...

I think he deserves another push. I'm a fan of his, but I'm wondering why WWE dropped the bully gimmick. It thought it was hilarious and it definitely would have built him up again as a major heel. Everyone hates bullies and he would have drawn major heat. The problem with that gimmick though is most people would want to see him get his ass handed to him. It would have ended up with a lot of faces going over him. I really don't understand why they didn't let him go over Sheamus with the help of Axel. Ryback is improving in the ring as well, and I'm guessing that's the reason why they tagged him with Axel. I'm also thinking that it will be RybAxel who will take the titles from The Usos later down the line. Also, why is he the one who gets tripled powerbomb most of the time?

IMO Ryback has no charisma and nothing that stands out. Why in hell does he deserve a push?
He's undercard at best. And undercards do lose.

Also, people seem to use that "buried" word for WWE a lot. I enjoyed when Triple H cut a promo and said people seem to think I like to bury talent and yet NXT was his idea. One example of being buried is Ryder. He's hardly on TV at all. Most of the talent, in my opinion, are being underutilized. For some examples are: Emma (Santino), Fandango (gimmick), Drew McIntyre (3MB), Natalya (jobber), Kofi Kingston (gimmick), Xavier Woods (I personally hate his gimmick).

Like Jack-Hammer said, I've heard reports of Ryback having poor work ethic and just being and all around unlikeable person backstage which may have had some part in Ryback not being in the position he once found himself in. Then again, I'm not normally one to invest much stock on reports I read online.

I think where things started to go south for Ryback was after his heel turn which I initially had mixed feelings about. He was very over as a face at the time and got the audience engaged with his "Feed Me More" chant. Ryback's heel turn made little sense to me and I thought it was dumb that he never got his comeuppance on the Shield and was continuously their whipping boy. Then he got stuck with that Cryback moniker for awhile after he began complaining about Cena not having his back. Him, a jacked up monster that up until that point had bulldozed through most of his competition. It just seemed totally out of character to me. His association with Paul Heyman didn't do anything for him either which is a shame because it was a good idea on paper but didn't pan out that way.

I don't think "buried" is the right term to describe Ryback's situation (I really don't like that word and at least he's consistently featured on television) but he's certainly been put on the back burner. I wouldn't mind if WWE tried to take another chance on him but I don't mind him where he is right now. The tag team division is fairly depleted at the moment and RybAxel could work as a temporary team until more teams can be created. Maybe split him away from Axel and push him again after the Ascension are brought up from NXT.

Or the Shield can continue to triple powerbomb him like they've taken to doing again in recent weeks.

I think the thing with Ryback is that when he got his big push and was challenging for the title, he was in a somewhat shitty predicament in that it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to win because with Rock having that guaranteed title shot at the Rumble it just wouldn't have really made sense, at all for him to win it. He wins his first title, dethroning Punk after he held it for so long - only to lose it to the Rock, because even had he beat Punk he definitely wasn't getting past the Rock. Who would they wanted us to cheer for in that situation? Punk was the dastardly heel, if Ryback beats him as a face he would have either needed to turn heel again right away or the Rock would have had to be a borderline heel cutting jokes on him and putting Ryback down to the point where we basically feel sorry for him and cheer him out of pity because deep down inside we still want Rock to win because he's the fucking Rock. It wouldn't have been the same shtick as when Rock was cutting down Cena because that was personal and Cena is a big enough name to handle it. Having Rock cut down the fresh face who just dethroned the bastard that is CM Punk wouldn't have worked and they were kind of forced to go with Ryback because Cena was injured. And then they just kept going, and going and going with him losing to Punk over and over until the point where he had lost so many times nobody cared. Maybe, had they had Heyman turn on Punk and help Ryback beat him they could have made it work but I still think things wouldn't have really worked once Rock came into the picture. Then you factor in that Ryback is sloppy as hell and has legit hurt guys inside the ring, would you even risk putting him in there with the Rock? Besides that, booking him to be the next Goldberg right off the bat was dumb, a big guy in an RVD looking singlet looks dumb and when he opens his mouth he sounds hella dumb - basically Ryback's a dumby but that shitty booking of him when Punk was the champion and they had nobody else to go with didn't help.
