Bring Back Mordecai

Somebody tried to touch Kevin Fertig's balls in the shower so he's got a job in WWE for life. Bring back Mordecai. Ok so he showed no potential as him 4 years ago. But I blam Hardcore Holly. He was supposed to get him over at The Bash 04, yet he didn't let the guy get hardly any offence. The next Smackdown Rey Myserio beat him and he was gone. He was then released, bought back, and turned into a vampire.

I really don't think he's that bad. A little balnd maybe. But the Mordecai gimmck looked cool. All white, and anti-Undertaker. Taker is getting old, why not start looking for an alternate wrestler to take over from him? You get Mordecai a manager. I'm not suggesting Paul Bearer. Just somebody creepy who can talk. Not Brother Love though. And away you go.

If after a couple of months he's still not over, what do you do? Have him feud with Taker, and win. A total beat down. Blood everywhere. Imagine the visual if Taker bleeds all over him, and Mordecai busts his head open himself. He stands in the ring, arms raides, bloody and victorious.

I think this would be an interesting idea. Fertig showed he was pretty talented as Kevin Thorn, so I'd say if they want to repackage him this would be a good choice. My point is, if you aren't going to use him anyway, why not give him a try at something. Who knew that Mean Mark Calloway would go on to become the legendary Undertaker. Or 'Stunning' Steve Austin of the Hollywood Blondes would shave his head and be the most well-known wrestler since Hulk Hogan.
I'd say just pull the trigger on this and see if it works. Give him a big push to start. Put him in a feud with a decent guy, maybe one of the Hardys and then have him go after the Undertaker. If you do it right and it works, you could even drag it into a Mania match.
Now, I am completely against having the Undertaker's streak end because it is part of his legacy as we know. But if you're going to do it, why not build a guy that could maybe take his place in a similar yet totally different character and someone that could have a huge benefit from the win.

I love this idea. He has talent (not the best, but talent). He can work a decent match. Put him in the ring with certain superstars and you have a good upper card feud. A repackaging would help, because the vampire gimmick is too "Halloween - ish".

I like the idea of bringing back the Mordecai gimmick, as it has a nice ring to it. Every superstar walks around with the "I'm going to win because I said so" talk. Mordecai could have the "I'm going to win because GOD said so" talk. That has some power. He could be a great heel OR face. Definately a tweener character. No matter who he faces, he can cut a promo about purging them of the evil inside them. Against a heel, fans cheer. Against a face, fans boo. Reactions either way.

If he really built up his character fast, he could face taker. I'm not saying he'd win, but put up a damn good fight. Make it believable. In a losing effort, he could say that Taker's evil is something even he cannot cleanse. Makes Taker look EVIL (popular evil though) and makes him look like an ANTI-Hero more than a villain. Fans react to those characters, and would watch.

Nice idea.

That's a pretty awesome idea. Fertig has never had fantastic in-ring skills but he's got a pretty good "scary guy" look both as Mordecai and Kevin Thorn. It would be freakin' awesome to see him with a manager in an Undertaker/Paul Bearer type of role. And I can't really get over how much the Mordecai gimmick resembles Gangrel.

He's like a bigger Gangrel. Id dropped out of watching WWE when Mordecai i was around, and Kevin Thorn didnt get my attention. But the Mordecai giimick grabs me for some reason, WWE could do worse then try and run with it again. Undertaker or even Kane would be perfect for him to feud with, plus throwing him in at the deep end with maineventers will get him more fan attention.

If that stuff about Hardcore Holly is true, i think thats pretty sad. It just adds to my general dislike and disinterest in Mr Holly.

I liked Mordecai a lot. Great gimmick, truly unique, tailor made to be thrown to Taker for a feud.

Hopefully they realize Kevin Fertig probably doesn't have enough charisma on his own and needs an interesting gimmick, and decides to give this gimmick back to him.

Meh? At least it would be better than having him appear back on ECW as Kevin Thorne and get the Charlie Haas treatment(no reaction). Thorne doesn't have alot of charisma alone and cannot pull off characters very well(Ariel helped Thorne alot before she was released). I think it's worth a shot putting him back as Mordecai. You could have him destroy Taker since taker is getting old and it may help him get over, and even if he doesnt Taker still wouldnt lose any credibility. I say bring it back, but if it fails this time with the proper push, say goodbye to Kevin.

I much enjoyed the Mordecai gimmick when it first came out and was very disappointed by its short tenure. I thought he had potential to make a great middlecarder and looked to be getting a reasonable push, winning his first few matches before losing to Rey, then he was gone. If the WWE really wanted him to get over, then beating a name wrestler liked Mysterio would've done wonders, but they never chose to and then he was done. I think part the problem was the suddenly large amounts of emerging middlecarders who came up around this time, like Nathan Jones, Dupree, Kenzo Suzuki, Matt Morgan, who WWE must've thought would do better than Mordecia. (all of whom are currently not with the WWE). The other problem may be Kevin Thorn himself. Although he's never gotten a chance to show it, he must not be very good on the mic, and he's never had a whole lot of charisma or connection with crowd. The WWE just doesn't seem to ever want to try the off the wall, kind of out there gimmicks anymore, like Taker, Kane, Mankind, instead chosing to put out the same basic wrestler type, just each with a different attitude/personality type. I think Mordecia could work and wish the WWE would give it a second chance, but I doubt they will.

Just the other day I was watching Mordecai's debut on youtube. Sure he isn't the best wrestler ever, but with the right gimmick (Mordecai) anyone can get over. And it would lead to the obvious Taker fued, which i would love to see. Whatever they decide to do with him.. please dont bring back Kevin Thorn!

I would love for Mordecai to re-emerge. He had the main essentials needed to make it. New, fresh, decent gimmick and cool finisher to go with it. You can easily make it work if the wwe put the proper time in it. I have still wanted to see him form a stable with the new elijah "black pope" burke. How freakin' sweat would that be. Both are doing nothing and would be awesome to see these two come out during a ppv match of takers and cost him a match.
Just my oppinion.

Can't believe I'm the first one saying this but I would not want Ol' Mordy back in WWE. Kevin Fertig was passable as an up and coming guy but after repeated attempts hasn't really learned all that much and IMO probably wont get significantly better. Both on the stick and in the ring the guy just doesn't have it.
My main problem with Fertig as Mordecai would be Fertig's wrestling style and the barely average matches I believe they produce. Kevin generally has a slower big man style yet really isn't all that big at least not for WWE. I would liken it to Mike Awesome's problem when he made the jump to WWE.
Sure he could dominate the smaller guys and make it look respectable but this super dominant character of Mordecai probably wouldn't work on the big guys.
When you put him in with 'Taker who is bigger than Fertig and wouldn't be as easy to manhandle, it would produce matches that would suck the heat out of any fued they would have. Basically it would be highly well produced vingettes and story line build up that would get killed come match time. Just two guys sucking wind in the ring.
In my opinion Taker doesn't work all that well with the big guys. Show, Vis, sometimes Kane, Khali, etc. Since Fertig models his style in that vein I think the same boredome would be the end product.
However if they could find another more athletic, and bigger guy I think giving him the Mordecai gimmick or a Mordecai styled character could work. I guess what I'm saying is the gimmick could be good but Fertig can't be the guy playing him. Perhaps in the future a more seasoned Matt Morgan?

Summation: with 'Takers ever worsening knees and helath in general I think the guys that are put in with him will have to do a large portion of the work a la Edge's run with the Dead Man and Kevin Fertig's Mordecai doesn't fit the bill.

ECW's Kevin Thorn, who hasn't appeared on WWE television in over a year, has posted a rather controversial blog on his WWE Universe account where he essentially accuses the creative team for their lack of direction. Thorn writes, "So who do you want to be for halloween???? Me I just want to be me again, the resident bloodsucking dark prince of ECW. I want to be undead again because it seems like I have been dead for a year now. but wait, I cant be dead though because they stuck that stake in my back, when they really should have stuck it in my heart!!! If they really wanted to get rid of me.Thats gonna come back to haunt them. A Year ago, I was told there is a new direction and we want you to be normal!??? THAT really doesn't work ,when you already were being what you thought was normal.I mean ,who wouldn't want to be a vampire? He also added: "I WILL RETURN IF NOT HERE, SOMEWHERE VERY SOON AND WHEN I DO ! I WLL FIGHT FOR THE BROKEN ,BRUISED,PICKED ON AND ABUSED I WILL BE YOUR VESSEL OF RETRIBUTION FOR THE DARK IS ABOUT TO FALL UPON THEM!!!"

So Im not sure if creative told him to post this to "foreshadow" a return as Mordecai, or if he is legitamately shooting on WWE.

But with the bolded quote, it seems like IF this is a work, and he does return, it'll be as Mordecai. Mordecai's gimmick was to be a "savior," to "gain vengeance on darkness" like a reverse-Undertaker.

What do you guys think about this?
Could it be Mordecai's return, or lead to Kevin Thorn being released again?

I remember watching this guy and thinking wtf is wrong with him, but in time i grew a fan. I liked his finisher and his gimmick was very good, although his mic skills weren't all there he was still talented. I think he could have another great feud with Rey, and mabye some guys on Smackdown and ECW. I can also see him and kane team up and dominate the tag division. I can see many more things Mordecai can do in todays WWE, and i really think he could be a help to any brand he would be put on.

I never liked the Mordecai gimmick. Apart from going against the Undertaker it would of gone nowhere. With it being gimmick heavy it would of failed. I know he did a Mordecai gimmick in FCW a few months back however Ihope he returns hasthe vampire drinking monster that we all know and love.

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!!!!! the Mordecai gimmick was a fresh and actually good. i thought he was going to have a future. then he got his ass kicked by hardcore holly and rey mysterio and was gone. this gimmick would be great on RAW. have him come out in the middle of match between Kane and Rey Mysterio and have him beat the shit out of Mysterio. have him team with kane to feud with Mysterio and Evan Bourne for a few months and then give them a tag title run (maybe even have Paul Bearer be their manager). imagine that tag team: Kane, a pyscopath, and Mordecai, a bigger version of Christopher Daniels. i think it would be awesome. eventually they will break up and Kane will put over Mordecai therefore vaulting him into the upper mid-card level. give him a small feud and then during the royal rumble have taker eliminate him. Mordecai will then flip out and eliminate undertaker and beat the crap out of him. give him a world title shot at No Way Out and during the match the lights go out and after several seconds they come back on and Mordecai is laid out so he loses the match. the next night in a rematch Mordecai has the champion in the crucifix takers hand comes out from under the ring and pulls mordecai through. on smackdown undertaker has his druids place him on a giant form of his symbol and sacrifice him ( just like in the attitude era ) then a bright light shines around the entire arena and Mordecai is gone and taker is instead on a giant cross. they have several other promos and at wrestlemania 26, mordecai barely defeats the undertaker forever launching him into the main event scene.

WOW I cannot believe that there are people that actually LIKED the Mordecai gimmick LOL. More like Boredecai, the anti-Undertaker. I could have just seen what would have happened if this STUPID-@$$ gimmick had taken off. Mordecai vs. Taker at Wrestlemania. 2-3 months leading up to it Mordy would have beaten and "crushed" and "destroyed" the Undertaker just like everyone else always supposedly does... but then at the biggest show of them all 'Taker would have made his "miraculous" return to the ring and annihilated Mordy in a casket match. The Mordy would have been in mid-card matches after that ala Snitsky before he became a jobber and was eventually released.
Speaking of which... WHY THE HELL hasnt WWE released ol' yellow teeth Snitsky yet?
