Hmm didn't know that he was was supposed to have a storyline with Jake Roberts after winning the world title.

That would have been epic at that time!

He also mentioned that he was supposed to work with Ultimate Warrior for Wrestlemania for the title as well..

I watched the Shawn vs Bret DVD a few days ago -- it was pretty good, for the most part -- and one of the things that immediately jumped out at me was how Bret (and Shawn, to a degree) was a huge mark for himself. It gets a bit obnoxious.
