Breaking Bad..As I Go Through It.

Randy Orton's Head Blood

Swinging with Cesaro...
**NOTE** - No spoilers for past where I am in the Programme. If you haven't seen past my current point, then don't carry on as I will be posting thoughts on what happens as I see it. But please don't post spoilers past the point where I'm up too.

Currently, I am sitting & watching Breaking Bad. I'm at Season Three, Episode 8 - "I See You".

This will be me, sharing my thoughts on each episode/special moment/death/birth/whatever as they happen.

Points on key moments so far;

- First episode was awesome.
- Bryan Cranston is an INCREDIBLE actor, Aaron Paul too.
- Walt setting off an explosion in Tuco's apartment was the first "genius" moment for me.
- Walt Jr (actor's name has escaped me) is a great character, played perfectly.
- Jesse's girlfriend, I originally thought she was a cool character, eventually with me leading to despise her. When she died, I felt like it was needed. Her father causing the plane crash was an amazing ending to the second season.
- Skyler is a fucking bitch. Treating Walt the way she does (I know that she knows about Walt but still), fucking Ted & all that.
- Hank being shot surprised me. He's in Hospital now, this is where I'm up too.

Also, "Well roll me further, bitch" is my new favourite quote. Followed closely by "I bought Dipping Sticks".

Feel free to share thoughts, up to where I am.

Must... resist... urge... to spoil...

All I'll say is if I was told I could only watch one show for the rest of my life, without a doubt it would be Breaking Bad. Season 2 was amazing, I watched that in one day. And every time I order pizza I gotta get dipping sticks.

Walt is a drug dealer. Sorry if that spoiled it. I loved this show. I wish that I could erase all memory of it and then just rewatch it from the begining. I love how addictive the show is. I always want to go get some blue rock candy when I watch it.

It's the kind of show where if I could just sit watching it, I would. But 'cos I'm usually stuck at work, getting time to actually sit down like today & watch it is rare.

Apologies. The way it worked for me was that I could open this page & none of what I'd posted regarding what's happened was showing up, so I thought a warning of me posting what's happening would be good.

Shall use the Spoiler tags to post it from now.

To be fair if someone opens a thread titled "Breaking Bad...as I go through it" and they aren't expecting to get spoiled then it's their own fault.

Definitely agree with you on the part of walt going into tucos place with the explosion. That was the first time in the series when I could tell that the show is fucking awesome.

Timothy Olyphant is a better actor and has more charisma on-screen then either man combined, and Justified is a better show, both dialogue wise and depth of characters, as well as storytelling, breezy as it can be. And with Olyphant and Walton Goggins as its leads, there isn't a show out there where the two leads have such perfected chemistry and the presence to steal any scene they're in.

Feel free to share thoughts.

You didn't say it had to be about BB. ;) Excellent show, however, though parts of the final season are eye-rolling and feel forced, just so Vince Gilligan could get the desired finish to the series he desired.

But its flaws are few and far between. I have a lot of respect for Cranston the actor and man, and enjoyed BB quite a bit.

As for I See You, it was the episode in the hospital, correct? That was Walt back in fix-it, tinker-with-it, would-be-mastermind mode., even though there was little he could do. Really good stuff from Cranston in that episode.

That's the moment that did it for me too, I've finally been watching it and presently halfway through Season 2. But that moment in Season 1 made me go from liking Breaking Bad into loving Breaking Bad.

I wouldn't have said Aaron Paul was a great actor for a long while, but he definitely made good strides as the show went on. Good material helps though.

Aaron Paul does have some flashes of brilliance in the show. I have to say it's one of the best shows ever created, but I agree with LSN about Final Season having some flaws. However come season 5 you feel the change of pace - it goes from a cool story to something real and you feel the whole series coming down on Walt and Jesse. Not spoling the show, only what I think most people will feel.

True Detective is filling the void that Breaking Bad left.

I just watched the episode solely based on Walt trying to get a Fly out of the lab.

Still undecided on whether it was brilliant, or a really bad idea.

Just caught up on that episode, just seemed like a basic bottle episode, just there to help save money for other episodes. I found "4 Days Out" from Season 2 to be a better use of a bottle show in this series. That being said, with the lab they have, they needed to have something that would fit that set for a bottle show format; it started off well, but just tired itself out and gave up, like the fly.

I'm about 5 episodes from the end of the whole Damn thing. I cannonballed the while series in about two weeks and it's been amazing. I don't know what the end has in store but I do agree that season 5 has seen a remarkable shift in tempo and feeling from the outset.

Ozymandias is pretty dark, no? That tempo continues to change somewhat, and personally, I didn't like it, at times. Much of it was brilliant, but some was eye-rolling stuff, intended on giving Vince Gilligan the ending he desired rather then have solid continuity, and worse, believability at times.

I won't spoil anything, but I will say this. I just think the addition of the Nazis as the bad guys at the seeming last moment was a bad idea. Walt's your villain, keep it that way.

Intriguing stand-point LSN80.

I'm curious to see how it pans out as I'm coming up to the mid-point of Season 4, it's been enjoyable so far and consistent, so the shift in tempo you speak of will be interesting to see. It does feel like things have slowed down, but in a good and tense way, building up to a big pay-off at the end of S4.

After Gus and the super-lab, I appreciated the unglamorous element the Nazis added to the show.

Right, let's go. "Full Measure", the final episode of Season 3. I'll be moving onto 4 today AT LAST.

Beautiful moment where Mike shoots a guy through a wall & you see the blood splatter against some form of tub. Great special effects right there. Looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Ok, so Gus slitting a guys throat with a Stanley blade & just holding him there for those few seconds was absolutely brilliant. Terrifying & chilling, but brilliant.

Yeah, I've started Season 4.
