Maybe I am showing my "Colorado-ness," but has anyone else ever heard of the legendary painter?

One of my local channels started replaying his show, The Joy of Painting. I remember when I was little, I would wake up at 3am just to stare in amazement at his painting. When I was big into acrylic painting, he was my idol.
