Blake Griffin For MVP????

Big Papa Panty Droppa
Now here me out, I am the biggest LeBron James Fan you'll ever see, even got an LBJ license plate( The Heat are my NBA Team) but Blake Griffin is the best young player right now in the NBA. But IF and this is a VERY BIG IF!!!!

If the Clippers make the playoffs, do you vote Blake Griffin for MVP?

In my very honest opinion , I say yes. Now I know people are going to say Amare, but to be honest Amare was always this good, and he hasn't just come into the league. Not only that the Knicks weren't as far down in the cellar as the Clippers, close but not there. Blake Griffin is playing some of the best basketball I have ever seen in my 19 years of living, and if he holds up, he is my pick for MVP.

1. The Clippers are not going to make the playoffs.

2. Amare and Kevin Durant are both having better seasons and they are doing it for teams that will be making it to the playoffs. Durant lead the league in scoring and his Thunder currently sit 3rd in the West standings. Amare is 2nd in scoring, 3rd in blocks, 13th in rebounding, and his Knicks are comfortably in the 6th seed in the East. Griffin has had a tremendous season thus far but he isn't going to win the MVP award.

Rookie of the Year? Locked up. MVP? Even Jordan could not accomplish this his rookie season, and he averaged 28.2 PPG, 6.5 RPG, almost 6 APG, and shot over 51% from the field. Blake is shooting 52% from the field at this point, along with averaging a double-double with 22.5 PPG, but Emeka Okafor and Elton Brand both averaged a DD for the year and only got the RotY for their efforts. Wes Unseld is the last player to win the MVP and RotY in the same year. Let's look at Wes Unseld's year and effect on his team:

- The Bullets had a 21-game improvement in '68-'69.
- Unseld averaged 18.2 RPG, along with a respectable 13.8 PPG.

Obviously, a player must accomplish something ground-breaking in order to win the Rookie of the Year AND the Most Valuable Player in the same year in the NBA. And while Blake Griffin's season is a spectacle that many of us may never witness in a rookie season (nonetheless ANY season in a player's career) again, it still is not enough to win both awards.

EDIT: All statistics from Basketball-Reference.com

I love Blake as much as anyone, but there is no way in hell he'll win MVP, even if they do manage to secure a playoff birth. LeBron is my first pick, the best player in the world should win this award every year. If not him, Derrick Rose and KD35 are great choices as well.
